What kind of cure time for Loctite 545? I looked around on net and saw overnight and also 1 week. How about in your experience with it?
Thanks

I use it almost instantly, never had an issue, but I only use it on smaller fittings. (Usually 1/4" and 1/8") When you tighten the fitting it sets almost immediately when it gets to a place with all the oxygen squeezed out. I just wipe off any extra and that's it. It will continue to harden a little bit for the next few hours but the sort of paste it turns into right away should be enough.

There's a big note on the bottle about how they intentionally left a big air space in the bottle to keep it liquid.

Moonshine coil... LOL!

You should definitely have plenty of air. :)

Nice clean setup OP. That will be a lifetime of air for sure!

Only question I have is on your electrical plugs. GJ Sparky's can chime in, but thought you were supposed to be hardwired. Also, thought you needed a shutoff rather than pulling out a plug. If it were me, I'd have a small subpanel right there.

My panel box is literally 5' away, each is on its own 30 amp circuit.....

The new ones sit where the old one and toolbox are located in this pic.

As far as the plug.......... I have read through section 430 and I see nowhere that it states a plug cannot be used. It states that over a certain HP a plug cannot replace a disconnect. If someone can point me to the section I'd like to read it.

That doesn't mean I will change anything though. I have a hard time seeing a 20 amp capacitor start motor causing any issues with a 50 amp plug config. I can't see how it would be any different than a welder, or plasma cutter plugged in...........

I do not want to be a debbie downer, but I think the way you have your system may work now, while everything is new and such. But with age it will require a lot of tinkering to keep it all in sync, to keep working the way you want it to.

Two compressor systems are nothing new, and are found in most body shops. Most have a switch that alternates the compressors run time.

While you have the ability for a lot of CFM of air, in most cases, most do not need it. If you need it then you should have a compressor, capable of pumping that CFM.

What I see is a system that will we running simultaneously, every cycle of air pressure. Not sure that is good for your load on the electrical system. Again maybe while new it will work great, but let them age a little and then it maybe a problem.

One reason for the electrical switch that alternated the compressors is one pump only runs most of the time, but you still have the volume of both tanks. If the need arises that both pumps are needed, to maintain air volume, the capability is there.

I think you have the start of a great system, but over time to keep it working as designed, it will have to be tinkered with constantly.

I'm not really sure what you are talking about. As for the electrical load, if he has them wired correctly, and they are that close to the panel, there is no issue. Nothing will change over time.

As for cycling on and off, he said he has them staggered so they don't start at the same time. No reason that is going to change over time either. Certainly does not need constant tinkering. The pressure switch is very easy to adjust if need be and either compressor can already individually be turned off if need be.

Like I said before, I had a similar setup with FIVE totally different smaller compressors, it wasn't a problem. They all turned on at a slightly different time and the pressure switches are EASY to adjust. No "constant tinkering".

I would always choose two smaller compressors over one bigger one.

I have a old black max 60 gallon and a old 30 gallon crapsman hooked together. It's not even close to looking like this. It's been working great for years though. I do still need a little more. Want to change the 30 gallon for a 60. Just not top priority right now.

My longest run is only about 30' so no worries. on my end. That and a 50' hose is still way less hose than the 100' I have been using.

Not my first rodeo here..........that is the advantage of this being my second garage. I know what works for me and what doesn't. I see a lot of overkill for a hobby/homeowner shops.....

Being a one man shop almost all the time, I like your point of view. Please feel free to post up other "observations" that would benefit the frugal one man band...I mean shop ;-))

I have the baby brother to those compressors(30 gal) sort of.

Had issues with two different units(returned/replaced) not unloading at startup. I have to run over and depress the compression release valve on the head for it to not blow the breaker.

Not sure what the deal is. Any similar issues? I just assumed it's due to not being broken in yet.
