Today (Friday 1/27), went out and looked at the mess and paint job that awaits me tomorrow. basically nothing as we had both grand-kids (ages 3 & 1) today. Love them to death, but can really use up your time

Picked up some cubical cabinets from my work for free this week, Finally got them hung up last night. Tossed some junk in them and cleaned up my mess from working on the Land Rover during the week.

I assembled and put up a couple of wall cabinets that I have sitting around for the last couple of years. I had a smaller metal cabinet and shelf there but this will give me more storage space.

I've lived here for over 8 years, finished the inside of my shop, and yesterday, I noticed that the door knob set was loose. I checked it out, and found that one of the threaded mounts inside was broken. I figured that I would buy a new one, and happened to look at the lock edge of the door, and saw a rectangular rubber plug. I pulled it off, and saw that it covered the hole for a deadbolt. How cool is that? (It's a metal foam core door).

So, today we bought a new lockset and deadbolt. I already have the setup for drilling the hole in the door, so I cut out the hole and installed the deadbolt, plus the new lockset. I've never seen that plug in all the times I've gone through that door. I got the deadbolt that takes a key to unlock it from the inside, as the door has a window in it.

Cleaned and organized. Got a matching top box for my bottom box and some gladiator shelving. Still gotta figure out a workbench. Think I am just going to make a 3 x 4 one and put some of those drop down casters on it so I can move it around as needed. Really created a lot of space in my attached single car unit today, the up side is after next week I will be getting down to finishing my LS swap in my K5 so as soon as that's able to run under it's own power the next door garage will be clear and I can move the work bench in there along with the rest of the bikes and retain my attached garage for parking one bike and wrenching on another.... Today was just about getting all the tools and stored crud off my bike lift. Going to add 2 more light setups to the garage there and that should make for great lighting.

I swept leaves out of mine three times today. The wind and a 1/2 acre of hardwoods makes keeping it clean a chore. Whenever the garage door is opened, leaves are sure congregate.

I've been slowly trying to get my space cleaned out and under control.....last night I did a "fun" project. I had a cheap home depot fridge that was grey and black so I sanded and painted the door red and added a Craftsman sticker I got off e-bay....

I swapped these two switches' location so the switch nearest the entrance door controls the lighting nearest the door. It was driving me crazy.

Don't have pictures - but built a little storage area above the workshop side of the garage - 14x8 in the attic running 5 2x8's from the outside top plate to the inside wall between the workshop & garage.

According to what I can figure out with the SPF 2x8's I used I can handle a load of just a touch over 3000lb's for storage. I think this is a good use of dead space. I just need to build a hatch for easy access. Its basically just for stuff that gets in the way - christmas decorations and the like.

My BIL is doing the pad, and I am doing the rest with a little help from my friends. The pad is going to cost about @$1500, and the building I have at just under $4K, no labor, but finished with insulation, electrical and drywall.

Since my shop was built in late 2016 this has been on my mind because when the builder installed it, I asked the door open to the inside and they told me fire code in my state was to install going out, since the erectors I used generally worked commercial buildings (dollar generals) I just left it like that and went on. Well, I could no longer take it with the wind blowing the door all around when you wanted the door open so I spent some time this past 2 weekends, taking my entrance door from opening out, like it was...note the exposed hinges.

And of course, what looks like an easy "1/2 hour job of oh, just unbolt the door frame and spin it around" had the usual issues come up, but it is now the way I wanted it from the start and I like it much better.

I often read on GJ how peoples' shops are being broken into and I decided to be PRO active since I always seem to add $tuff to my shop that comes out of my wallet, so I installed what I think is the worlds best lock to my door while I was doing this swap. I find my mind at ease much better now and I am not too worried about losing power to my shop as this lock is only used when I am away from my shop for extended periods.

Since I had to move light switches and the garage door opener switch too, I had to time to make another addition to my liftmaster myQ system and install this switch (823LM) so I can control the outside lights with my smart phone or car remote, very convenient and super easy to activate. I did have to modify the two ears of the switch to fit inside the metal box but my Milwaukee m12 rotary tool made quick work of that.

It's already done but did you consider actually having the one wall slanted against your property line like in the picture below (green line)? Or was that not worth it or very minimal space gain?

I'm just over thinking since I always try to get the max amount of space utilized with things.

Can't wait to see progress pictures!
