Those that read how I got this pile of.....joy..... will know why I call it the "speed Franken-pressor".

So i couldn't sleep last night and the wife got tired of me tossing and turning. So to the shop I go! Once there I decided to start some damage assessment on a raw deal Quincy a got not too long ago. I over paid or didn't charge enough to haul it off, take your pick.

The speed franken-pressor: ain't she purdy?

What a hack!

But, I'm slightly stubborn. So we will at least see if there are parts worth saving.
First, hose was removed. And then started on that ridiculous line feeding the tank (oh boy the tank! More on THAT gem later.)

Note: I guess I should pause and say that if you have ever rigged up stuff like this before I'm not specifically bashing you with my opinions. I'm just bitter and no one else near me will listen.....

Well, this is going well........

I know reducers can be handy but for Christ's sake!

This was actually, not as bad as I expected.

But I was still in need of good news.
So......OFF!!! With its head!

At least the bolts weren't seized.

Even if you are frustrated you can still be professional. Removing something like this just takes finesse.

Because then you knock stuff over (like hammers) or could damage what you're working on.

And before you know, things will work out!
You will be a step ahead and have kept your cool!

Honestly it doesn't look it's age at all. Don't get me wrong there is plenty of work to be done, definitely! But it did have compression.

That's all for now, to be continued!

What is that scab "welded" to the side of the tank. Doesn't look like an access port. That tank might be usable. YMMV

I think it a genius mark. Aka some genius found a welder and left his mark

Quincy "speed franken-pressor" tear-down.

So the weirdness continues. I had a few minutes so I finished pulling the motor and pump of the carriage/tank.
Then I pulled the rigged up drain line with the steel cap. While I did this I saw that the boss for the drain fitting looked weird and the paint was flaking anyways so.....

Brazed?????

Then right below it...... a booger!

Then the scab that was commented on.

That it ALOT of brazing rod!! T-25torx bit for scale.

Now the carriage is an oddball but the bars that hold the tank took the cake.
More brazing!! Welded to the pump plate but brazed to the tank???

Now I'm genuinely curious about this tanks former life.
