Great stuff...I mean it's worthless junk. I'll be by in the morning to take them off your hands so you won't have to bother dealing with them.

Of course you'll get a lot of comments like this. We are very jealous. Please tell us the story.

I want to hear the story behind those! Are they yours or someone you know? What else is in them?

Brian

They are mine. I live near Chicago and the only reason I got the K60 and bottom is because my friend works for a shipping and logistics company. He shipped them to me free. The boxes came from Utah and were originally on the west coast. Snap-on supposedly contacted the previous owner about them for their headquarters, but would only offer new tools for them. He was so upset with that offer, he sold them to me after a few calls and pretty reasonable, I had to pay in advance, and was worried as I had no recourse. They showed up on a pallet with plastic wrapped around it. It was later I found out my buddy wasn't charging me.

They are generally filled with old mechanic tools.

I'm 57 and have collected mechanical tools for awhile, but my dad is 84 and has 2 pole barns full of old car and tools. He has a black Snap on chest super old. Next time I'm there I'll get pics.

Where are the date codes?

My Snap On boxes are from the 70s and have the code either on the back right corner, or front right. They are stamped in pretty shallow usually and are hard to read. Here's what mine looks like. The "79" after USA is the date of manufacture.

Date codes on boxes started in the mid 50s

Yep. The only thing you might find is "Made in the USA" stamped on the right rear corner of the k60. I can't remember where on the k200.

I believe if memory serves me the k60 was a box made from 1939-1947.

I've heard that story more than once, I kind of wonder if it's an urban legend.

Kind of like selling a car that was only driven by a little old lady to church on Sundays. ;)
