LED coach lights

I have three coach lights outside by my garage doors that operate off a timer, or at least they should in which I installed LED light bulbs.

The weirdest thing happens when the timer tries to turn on the lights. The one farthest from the timer starts flashing on & off while the other two do not light at all. If I manually turn on the lights everything is fine. Also after awhile all three lights will turn on.

I previously had CFB's installed that worked just fine and as they burned out I replaced them with the LEDs.

Should I simply leave best alone and not concern myself? I'm only inquiring since I thought they should turn on just like incandescent bulbs and its really not a big deal.

Yeah, old or bad timer switch. Replace it, or put a small wattage conventional bulb in one of the fixtures to "absorb" the leaking electricity from the old style switch. You are wasting power, by the way.

Thanks guys. It is a old timer I bought about 10 yrs ago, well before LED's.

I have a never used photo cell in my collection of electrical "stuff" I'm thinking of trying.

That should solve the problem - I have 15 lights in my soffits outside on 4 circuits and had to put in LED compatible timers to work with them. The ones on the front of the house and detached garage run dusk to about 02:30 and the ones above the garage doors on the house and the detached run dusk to dawn. When programming you input your geographic location and they adjust for changing sunrise/sunset times too. All 4 sets of light turn on within a minute of each other and I have had no time adjustments and haven't touched them since installation. It's pretty nice not having to deal with them for 2.5 years so far.

Did that solve the problem?

I've been swamped with honeydos. Hope to change it out today, with luck as usual. I just hope it does not turn into my latest & current plumbing job that started out with just a leaking faucet. :rocketwho Damn those 60+ yr old iron pipes inside the wall.
