I have the Klein 11-in-1 in my side pocket at all times when at work. Same with the Klein 5-in-1 nut driver.

I vote for the milwaukee. The reason i like it so much is the bits are long like a normal screwdriver shank. I have a klein as well. Never gets touched cause of the short bits. Too fat. Dosent fit into alot of places i need it. Bits are suprisingly good too

I picked up several Enderes 6-in-1's for X-mas a few years ago.
I even picked up color coordinated mini 2-in-1's for me and my son.

Used one yesterday while doing some network wiring (electrical tool bag was in the other room).

I have found older Enderes 6-in-1's at the flea's and I like the newer larger handles.

Cheers

Depends on use. The orange Home Despot ones are a couple bucks, reasonably durable, and easily replaced.
Are you getting something you will take care of, or something that "may grow legs"?
As far as bits go, I frequently use them in my cordless drill and they hold up fine. They usually get lost before they break.

Thirty years ago all I used were the Enderes as found at Ace stores.

The tips were decent but wore, over time I had replaced the entire many times for lack of spare tips.

The last I had was about 8 years ago and the tips were soft. It wasn't going to hold up at my job long so it stayed home.

I went to some two buck Asain flippers and simply cannot wear the tips down. Not in even heavy use.
And a Chinese driver fits Chinese drywall screws perfectly. I win. I use a lot of those screws in a year.

Less parts to lose and the regular hex bits lock into the handle as possible spares. Available at any hardware store around me, good deal.

I started a thread several years ago, you can some more opinions from it and I believe it shows how times have changed.

http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=75616

I have a Great Neck one I have used for years, probably my first one. I have a Kobalt one in a tool bag. A cheap orange in my turn-out gear at work. I have a Channellock one that stays out on a shelf above the bench at all times for a simple screw removal or tightening. In my tool belt I spent a few bucks more and bought the Lenox, I believe that one is my favorite.

These things are so versatile and cheap (relative to what you use them for) that you can try several different brands out and tuck the ones you like less in various places, vehicles, work, home, garage or shop.

Went to Home Depoy and Sears

Looked at what they had

Klein 5 in 1 9.97 assembled in USA with overseas parts
HDX brand 2.97 assembled in USA with overseas parts
Craftsman Western Forge 9.99 assembled in USA with overseas parts
Craftsman with built in LED light 14.99 made in China (actually pretty nice gimmick)
Milwaukee 9.97 Proudly made in Taiwan...it really says Proudly!!!!

I walked away empty handed...

I am not a must be made in USA but it's just a damm screwdriver.

Actually, happy with my Kobalt. But then again, I keep it in the house for random needs - its not something I use all the time.

My only multi-bit drivers are my Ideal 11in1, I have four of them. I use them all the time at home and at work. I need to have one with square bits since I use those more than all the other bits. And the wire nut driver in the handle is a huge plus.

I like the Kleins as well, as long as it's the 11in1.

Yep i was looking at it before.

I just ordered some stuff from Snap On and the shipping was fair and fast.

I was just hoping to walk into a store and buy a decent screwdriver that was hopefully made in USA.

I have nothing against the brands that were recommended but I was just a little disappointed that none where made in USA when I went to look at them.

These assembled in USA labels is a bunch of BS

I agree about assembled in USA... but the Klein 11 in 1 is made in USA.

Is Enderes Tools the same company?

The website says under new ownership and not much more.

Yep. Their website is painful. You can download a pdf catalog though. You can email them to find a local store. They shut down for a few months a few years back and lost their dealer network. I bought from them directly when we did an enderes day. You can also get through epsteins now. EBay is probably easiest.

I have my fathers Snap On 2-1 in my box with his engraving. it's very nice and kinda cool all these years later. Also have a few newer 4-1s Like the op posted in my electrical bag, carpenters belt and in a few small kits. The handles never fail and I just buy better bits when needed...

I don't use any of them often. But it nice having them and not having to fumble with bits on certain jobs.

Do you know with the new ownership are they still made in USA?

The story as I remember it is Enderes went bankrupt. The company who did the maintenance on their machinery (which was right down the street) bought them out. It took about 6 months to complete the deal, and they were able to rehire most of the former employees. So it's still an American company with USA workers. IIRC they outsource some of their handles, and were bringing new offerings to market as conditions allowed. The new owner was posting here on the Journal, and asked what style of driver the members wanted. If the demand was enough, he'd invest in a $10K injection machine to make the handle. This was a couple of years ago, so, if I missed some info forgive me.
I actually prefer the older 6-in-1 handles to the newer deep-fluted ones, though most of the handles I've seen on the catalog are the older type. Just not the 6-in-1.:(

So I've been grabbing any of the older ones I find, as I have spare shanks and bits. The picture I posted earlier is only about half of the ones I own. In 30 years of using them I've never stripped out a shank or bent/twisted a bit.

Klein made in USA

Negative or at least not the ones sold in Home Dopey

Assembled in USA not made and the have the nerve to put an American Flag on the front of the packaging to make you think they are.

Once you factor in the gas money, time and hassle make another trip accross town....its a wash at best monetarily...I can see trying to save say $10/each in a 8pc set set because the money adds up, but here on 1x piece I'd ratcher have the apex quality bits then taiwan/chicom special of the month...:dunno:

My 4-in-1 and 10-in-1 sure are.My newer drivers with the new handles are not marked for COO, so they may not be USA.

I believe the Klein multi screwdrivers used to be made in USA. But they haven't been made in USA for a few years now.

As others have noted, I found the new Klein 11-in-1 lacking compared to the old USA one I used to have. The bits would not stay put.

I gave up on my Klein screwdriver about the same time I was given the Irwin 9-in-1.

No one has mentioned the Irwin here yet but it's been my go-to and it's only about $9.

When I lose it, I would like to try an Enderes piece.

On my 11 in 1, it says made in usa on the black rubber grip. It doesn't really jump out and grab your attention. I forget what the packaging said, thought it was made in usa. I bought it maybe a year, 1.5 yrs ago at HD. I've had good luck with the bits, except they got some flash rusting.

I think folks would be surprised at how many of these brands are made by the same manufacturer.
Skyo Industries/Bestway-Tools/Anderson family holds the US patent and has a manufacturing plant in FL.
Just because a product doesnt come with a Made in USA claim, doesnt necessarily mean it is devoid of domestic made components.

I use the Milwaukee one pretty regularly.

I also have several of the Stanleys - I stash them in several places and they work fine.

First time poster here, and I already have opinions. :) Lenox or Irwin 9-in-1. Same one Doan recommended. They're identical except for color and slight variations in the rubber grip. It's a lot like the Klein 11-in-1, except it doesn't have Torx and it's a lot cheaper; the Lenox variety can be found for $8 at Lowe's right now.

I have 4 megapros, 3 Picquic, and the Milwaukee. Not to mention 4 SO/Williams ratcheting drivers and a few bit holders from various brands. Even the Wera with the belt pouch that I carried when I used to install network equipment.

To me nothing is the equal of a screwdriver, nut driver, etc built to do one thing well. But I appreciate the convenience and keep my 11 in 1 in my electrical pouch, and a few others in strategic places where space is limited.

Milwaukee 9.97 Proudly made in Taiwan...it really says Proudly!!!!

This is really not a bad driver. And what's the issue with people being proud of what they make in a country that isn't USA? I feel that lack of pride is the main reason most imported tools are inferior. I mean, I acknowledge it's mostly chasing profit by American brands, but when you find a bidder at such a low price point, that bidder is not proud of their product just their price.

I emailed Klein last night about this. Here is their response:

Alan,

Thank you for your interest in Klein Tools.

The majority of our screwdrivers are made in the USA at our Mansfield, TX facility.

Our online catalog (http://www.kleintools.com/catalog) will call out a product made in the USA:

If thats the case, it looks like the nly multi-bit driver made in USA is the 32505 11-in-1 with multi screwdriver tips.

$18.00 or so at Home Depot but not in store. Not sure if there is another local source.
