Calling all Walker Turner DP owners

So I finally got my hands on a Walker Turner DP at a reasonable price. I was hoping someone with the same press who has the original toggle switch box could send me some good pictures of it along with some measurements of it. I am going to make a reproduction of it for mine. As you can see mine has a awful looking switch.. this is my first Walker restoration so any helpful tips would be great. Also is this considered the 900 series? Thanks for any help you can give

That looks to be a 900 series drill press. Got one just like it for over 35 years and love it. Here is a link to the manual for it. Maybe you'll be able to see what the switchbox looks like.

Thanks for the information. I've printed off the manual. Looks like it'll come in handy. Only issue I've found so far with it is the motor humms and won't spin without help.

I have one, not the original switch though. It has a GE motor on the back and a GE motor starter on the right side. I will try to put a put up a pic tomorrow.

Test the capacitor, centrifical switch and associated wiring. Don't let it hum for more then a few seconds or it can overheat the stator's windings.

Motor wasn't a GE, but a Hoover. Cross slide is an Atlas. It had a cracked sheave, but a friend bored out another one for me, and now it is real accurate (drilled out a screw on a Snappy ratchet.)

So I took the cover off the capacitor and found it still in the original box and wired. Is this standard practice? This is the first time I've ever worked with capacitors so forgive my ignorance. Also want to make sure I get the right one. This one reads 216-240 MFD 125 60 cycles. The replacement that I am looking at reads 216-259 MFD 110-125 VAC. It has the same manufacturer number. Both Vanguard B-216

I was hoping someone is still following this. I could use some help on the best way to get the front pulley bearings out. Any help would be great.

If I remember right, you tap the whole shive out from the bottom with a piece of wood. Then you can get to the bearings pretty easily.

When I restored mine, I upgraded it to a 3/4hp, 220v 3 phase motor driven by a 110v VFD. It plugs into a standard 110v outlet and give me full variable speed and plenty of power.

Is that yours!? Man it's beautiful! Jealous you have the slow speed set up. Iam still on the hunt for one that's not rediculous priced.

I got mine finished yesterday. I left it all original. The paint was still in great shape and wanted to keep this one untouched. Just cleaned it and repacked the bearings. Wiped it down with some T9 to keep it protected, modified a Delta stand for it and hooked up a foot pedal to it. Now it's home is next to my 40 CRAFTSMAN and ready to go to work.
