I hope someone jumps on this before the Bell Gardens dude gets it & tries flipping it for $800+.
Yea, pretty much!
:Toilet:

Agreed....

It's already been sold, hopefully it found a good home and we will not see it again on craigslist with the same dust.

Sounds like you guys are all too familiar with the Bell Gardens dude.

The Bell Gardens dude is such a knob, I see he's still advertising the same band saw he's been trying to sell for over 3 yrs and still hasn't lowered the price. He has a very odd business model as a craigslist flipper, he currently has over 125 ad's as a non-dealer in our local craigslist but he never sells anything because the condition of items and prices are terrible.

Count me in as one of us who follow the "Bell Gardens dude"
I agree that he has a very strange business model. Has anybody met the guy and tried to make a deal?

Well.....
I don't know how he makes any money. I've only see him sell one thing, and only cause he got to it before me.. it was a Wilton c3 that was up for $75 on offer up (!!!) Posted while I was at work, so I doubt he has a day job, (not bagging on you retired guys out there) and he sold it for $475 on cl, which also tells me he doesn't really understand value in the things he buys, there's c3s that have sold for $600 around here. I have contacted him about a vise he bought for $15 on offer up, listed for a couple hundred on cl, when I asked if that's what he payed for it he got really aggressive and a bit threatening... He called me six times in a row and after thinking it must be some type of emergency I answered and, it wasn't a pleasant conversation...
Anyways, there's my first Internet rant!

Cheers

Looks like a lot of people have been clicking prohibited/flagging his ad's as they keep getting removed but he repeatably keeps re-listing the same ad's daily. Must be a lot of work.

Just the other day I saw a cheap chinese combo lathe-mill for $200 with tooling which would be great for someone starting off and to learn their mistakes on, it was located in Beverly hills and only used for plastics. I sent the link to a friend about getting it to make to the odd piece or two, my friend missed it by one phone call.

I then see it virtually the next day back on craigslist with no tooling by Bell Gardens Dude for $850. Tried to include link it but looks like the ad has already been flagged.

I have dealt with him once over the phone about a drill press, just like you said, I called him, he wouldn't answer but he keeps calling you back over and over not leaving a message. We spoke, he couldn't tell me if it worked or what was wrong with other than what do I expect, it's a 60 year old machine, he didn't know anything about the machine. I asked if he could go down on price since it most likely will need a lot of work, rudely he says hell no, I never go down on price and would rather store it for the next three years, end of phone call.

Rant over

Craftsman Electronic 10" table saw - $100 (Riverside, CA)

It's not free and it's definitely not a Unisaw, more of a novelty but it's kind of cool. Owners say that it actually works and repeatable. Controls height & angle via keyboard. .1 degree angles & .001" height.

Ryobi Table BT3000 saw with stand for sale - $50 (Los Angeles)

Again, this is not a Unisaw but they do have a strong following and its own fan website. $50 is cheap and I see a Delta 22-580 13” finish thickness planer with new blades stashed underneath the cart that probably could be had for very little based on the table saw price.

Ryobi Table saw with stand for sale, I don't use it anymore and need to make room in my garage

Those are the magic words all of us should look for...

"I don't use it anymore and need to make room in my garage"

By following up on those words I recently scored a vintage Snap On roller cabinet full of old machinist tools for a very low price. (anybody need a Starrett 454 18 inch vernier height gauge? What do I do with 10 pounds of cutters if I don't have a lathe?)

That's a real shame.
keeps someone that could really use it from getting a deal.
He must not need the money either, Or he would say, "sure, I'll work with you on the price".
Even if he doubled his money on the mill, If he needed the money, an easy $200.00 would help a person that *needed* it.
Wondering how old he is, he will probably Die with it all.
Has to have money too, as it costly to store in California.

I cant believe you are talking about that bell gardens guy. He has beat me to several items (20" bandsaw, huge vise, more) over the years. I know because he repost them SAME DAY for 1000% more. I have seen so many deals disappear and reappear next to his white trailers. I will never deal with that guy...

For the so cal guys the guy that has good deals is in Alta Loma. He is a cool dude, buys at auctions usually pallets to get the one item he wants and needs so resell the rest which are priced to sell.

EDIT: I went to the Los Angeles CL tool page, searched these words "Cash Only FIRM CALL " which is the Bell Gardens guys few key works. I briefly counted he currently has 106 ad's posted , thats over one hundred!!! wow...

Holy ****, I'm glad I live in Sacramento and not Southern California. That guy sounds like a nightmare. ...He also sounds like someone that would be prime for having a lot of fun with. :D

Found this table this morning, EDIT - AND it's gone.

Also, this old handsaw is free. Down in Pleasanton.

Nicely done, let's get a look at that cabinet in the vintage toolbox forum! http://garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=49743

Triple stack Snappy for $90?
Sure it's old, sure it lacks ball bearing drawer slides, but there are plenty of vintage SnapOn collectors who would happily double or triple your money on that one.

Rockler Dust Collector on Rockler Rack Clamp & Tool Storage System - $100 (Yorba Linda, CA)

Doesn't look like much but both the rockler dust collector and rockler clamp rack cart sells for over $400 combined and this one looks like a clean set-up and ready to go for someone.

"Rockler wall mount dust collector that's mounted onto a rolling clamp stand. Clamps not included.

A Dayton toolbox (likely rebranded Waterloo) in Hayward CA for $20. The poster says it's damaged but other than a small dent in the 2nd drawer (easily knocked down) I don't see any catastrophe. ( That top drawer is tilting a bit, maybe there's more to it than I thought. Still- $20.)

If it is a vintage Waterloo rebadged as Dayton then it's a very solid box, not at all like today's awful low-end Waterloos:

Logan 820 Geared Lathe and base- $500 (Simi valley, CA)

Just posted: 8 x 32 with threading, definitely needs a good cleaning but if it checks out then it's a really nice lathe for $500. Has the nice & desirable cast iron legs. I wonder what tooling will go with it?

8x32 Logan lathe good working, lathe turns and threads, comes with a tail stock and manual. call or txt

This should go very quickly

Heck of a deal!
Considering QCGB and the better apron.
Plus the legs and chip tray.
Is that 8 X 20 mean only 8" swing? Crazy. Didn't know that.

I would try for a lower price. Although the jaw teeth look to be in great shape, it seems rusty. The mechanics line of Wilton bullets (tradesman) is not at all equal to the machinist line of bullet vises. And that one is missing the base. It probably broke. (a weak point)
If you don't need a swivel it might make a good user, but IMHO, for collector value, 120 is not a steal of a price.
