Wow and double wow. The hand lettered side looks like a decal also. Would you mind sharing the name of the decal company?

The Porto Power box and tools came out beautiful. Your painter definitely does top quality work. Once again a job well done saving an old piece of tool history.

Don: when you said you were going to strip your Porta Power box and create new decals when you already had a good portion of the originals there i had mixed feelings.

again you've surpassed maybe even making it better than new and i want to congratulate you and your guys for doing an AMAZING JOB restoring it.

i also heard that either another member owned it or maybe he just posted it on a thread years ago hear and you were able to find it and buy it. WELL DONE SIR!!

best of luck on the corvette's engine issue and sorry to hear of that set back when it was going so well.

cheers and keep up the great work at MAYBE ONE OF THE BEST GARAGES ON GJ that is working on becoming maybe a MUSEUM.

Don, I'm quoting drives for a couple of reason. His first line is exactly what I'd say.

I would change his second line to read...ONE OF THE BEST GARAGES ON THE GJ that has become a museum.

Awesome as usual.

Hi Shorty
Thanks, I had Dave the painter build the decal artwork then he sent it somewhere to make his artwork into a decal.
Dave does an outstanding job at creating / duplicating with paint.

The Porto Power box and tools came out beautiful. Your painter definitely does top quality work. Once again a job well done saving an old piece of tool history.

Thanks rmalkow
The porto power set was a fun project. I'm glad you like it

Drives, Here is a link to the porto power set that I saw a few years ago that let me know about this set.
Yes CRTDI owned this set in 2012

http://garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=133381

best of luck on the corvette's engine issue and sorry to hear of that set back when it was going so well.

The Corvette mistery has been solved. WE pulled the heads on the motor and found a 3/8 bolt about 1 1/2" long bouncing around in there.
The heads are in the machine shop being reworked

cheers and keep up the great work at MAYBE ONE OF THE BEST GARAGES ON GJ that is working on becoming maybe a MUSEUM.

Thanks again Drives

Hi dlcwent
That's a very nice complement that you and drives are offering. THANK YOU

I just got back from a 5 day vacation at the river again and the reason for going was to take my truck and bring home the items I gathered up a couple weeks ago.

My wife found this cool old wood rake that she wants to hang in the country store.

I ran across this old battery charging station that needs a little attention. It has a charger built into the back of the rack and it is wired to charge 7 batteries at one time

Very interesting battery charger find. It must be an oldie since it says for 6 volt batteries but I've never seen one like it before. Quite a unique find and will make a great addition to your place.

Great finds! Love the battery charger, can't wait to see it restored at "The Big Party Garage".

Thanks guys
I was pretty stoked when I found it and even happier when my offer was excepted.
I have seen others but not with a charging system included and when I noticed the battery connections was after I made my offer. I was really excited after that.

I went out to the dessert this morning to look at a candy scale a buddy told me about and came home with this too

I will need to take it apart and get it powder coated if I want to put it inside the building or leave it alone and put it out in the yard somewhere.

Cool charger! I found it interesting that the text calls for a Mazda replacement bulb. I had never heard of Mazda bulbs so I looked them up. I'm the last to know that Mazda was a GE trademark starting in 1909 for tungsten filament bulbs.

Great wheeled fire extinguisher. In the refinery where I worked we had brick fire building scattered over the plant with extinguishers like that with 5 ft wooden wheels, and hose reels with the same wheels. The fire department declared them obsolete and was giving them away to employees. I put my name on one of the hose reel carriers (with hose) but was too busy to claim it. When I finally drove my truck to load it up someone had helped themselves to the wheels and I left the carriage there. Missed opportunity.

Your museum will be a lasting legacy.:thumbup:

I have restored a few steel coaster wagons as I am the owner of [URL="https://www.facebook.com/Wagonwerx/"]Wagonwerx
.
Those are fun to restore...be careful, restoring them is addictive!! Enjoy!

Not the last Andy. I have an old piece that also calls out for a Mazda bulb which know one seems to have heard of or where to get one. Problem is now that I have a clue to what it actually is I can't remember what I need it for. :dunno: Oh yeah, i think it was for the Do All blade welder. Have to check it tomorrow; if I remember. :lol_hitti

Great job as usual Don. What is a museum, really, but "education central."?

I just spent the better part of 2 WEEKS reading thread.....
all I can say is thanks for sharing...

Welcome, and yes...... there are a few of these threads where the content is just mind blowing.

This is certainly one.

I love the diversity and finishes on the restored items.

Don: looks like we just past your 5th year ANNIVERSARY on your PARTY GARAGE thread and your journey. i recall when you first built it and it was such a big grand garage shop and full of so much cool stuff it left me speachless (hard to do BTW) and i think i read posts now and then and never had much to add or say. i usually view my GJ threads with the last post first and yesterday while on my cell phone i accidentally hit first page and thought you'd built another garage the last couple weeks (always a possibility with you sir) and it reminded me of the first time i saw your thread so many years ago.

for all those posts i missed back when you first started i want to say VERY WELL DONE SIR!

you are well on your way to fulfilling your dreams and thank you very much again for sharing some of them with us.:bowdown::bowdown::bowdown:

Hi Bolensboneyard
An education is for sure what I have gained from collecting these old items. I think that is what keeps me on the lookout for the stuff.

Obviously you had heard of Mazda bulbs.:lol_hitti

Yes Andy Mazda is just a brand name and all brands have kept the number system so an 1157 bulb is the same with each manufacturer (I think)

Don: I'd be willing to bet you maybe like PICKING more than walking thru your PARTY GARAGE admiring some of the great finds and work you did to restore a lot of them?

I'm happy to hear that you check in often Drives
Yes the hunt is the driving force and the find is the climax to the hunt and looking at it on display is just the satisfaction and the justification for the hunt.

Don, Hope you enjoy your cruise. Its an interesting part of our world and often overlooked when folks want to travel or cruise. We've never met and likely won't but I wanted to say thanks for all your posts here. I've followed then from the beginning and have seen the incredible work that has gone into the Big party garage and grounds.
When I can't get to my own small shop, I can visit you and the other contributors here. It makes it bit less frustrating and helps me look forward to when I can get back to my multitude of projects. Enjoy your vacation!

That's a very nice offer Bobby.
The ship started in Montreal, stopped in Quebec Nova Scotia and Sydney
Then down to Maine. From main to Boston then down to Bermuda for 4days then back up to Boston where we are today sitting in the airport waiting
I would love to drop in on you some day.

We did enjoy the cruise. We were in a large suite with a nice balcony and the views were spectacular and thanks for those kind words about the garage.
I have missed working in it for a while but tomorrow will be a good day!!!

Sounds like an interesting trip. If the trip ends in Florida, welcome. Happy sailing.

Well we got home from our vacation and landed in the hospital with heart problems.
So the garage projects will be on hold until I get my energy back.
About a month ago I received some restaurant booths and tables. We have decided to create an ice cream polar inside the party garage .
We cleared out an area and started setting up the booths. The signage will be changed out to ice cream and dairy signs. I also have a rocket to hang in the ceiling like a Jonney Rocket store.

IMG_0826 by don long, on Flickr

IMG_0827 by don long, on Flickr

I also have a Fatburger sign that needs restoring so I started cleaning up the sign to hang in the parlor

IMG_0830 by don long, on Flickr

I took the letters off the base and sanded the paint off them.
I also sanded down the sign base

IMG_0843 by don long, on Flickr

IMG_0844 by don long, on Flickr

The letters were painted a bright yellow color then sent out to a sign shop to have the letter caps remade.
I will paint the base a bright red then assemble the sign again before having the neon tubes bent for the sign.

Don, you will always have an open invitation. As for the health problems, a way of telling us the pace may be too intense for our well worn machinery. Like the fine works of art we so lovingly hold dear, we must now cruise and enjoy the ride now, as we are already running the race with time. That being said, keep moving, and I know you will, but pace yourself; take care of that heart;its a good one!

Yes sir, take care. Can't put off to much when it comes to the heart. I just spent 4 days in the heart hospital because of A-Fib, my heart beats were 166bpm. So it was beating like a jack rabbit.

You're pretty good at taking care of machinery, so listen to the master mechanic working on your ticker. Just no fun to have equipment problems slow you down.

Booths and Fatburger sign look great! You sure know how to do things the right way:bowdown:

Don, well, thats no way to end a vacation, a cruise is supposed to relax you, although 3 weeks on a ship with no tools or anything to restore could be a bit stressfull :eyecrazy:. If you need anything, if I can give you a hand, you know I'm only 45min. away, don't hesitate to call me. Love the ice cream parlour idea, although it's probably going to keep Ann busy with strawberry shakes :bounce::drool:

Don, vacations are dangerous things. I loved to travel but it has become such a stressful hassle that I dread it now.

Now that you have turned so many of us into Party Garage Junkies, you have to continue to supply us. We're happy to take smaller doses so do whatever you need to do to restore your health.
