Can I use just one on an axle? Some times I work on just one side at a time and leave three wheels on.
I do that occasionally for brake work but I put the tire under the pinch weld and keep my floor jack in place as well (with the weight on the stand). Keep your limbs out from under the hub/rotor/etc.
If you are getting under the vehicle use a minumum of two jack stands and wheel chocks.
Why should I use two jack stands as suppose to one? If I'm using just one jack stand I also place the floor jack under the pumpkin and place the tire under the frame on the ground.
