You should get the Kennedy cantilever shipped too so you can send it to Twertsy. I hear that he is into Kennedy boxes. :D

True that[emoji3] I need another box like a hole in my head but if you don't ask you don't get !

I heard back from the seller. She is going to the shop today and if its still there she will pull it and get me a shipping quote.

[emoji30] oh well it was just as well! I have been spending a ton on sweet craftsman stuff as of late. Please let me know if you decide to pass! I think shipping would be about $40

So give us an update! Are they able to ship it and at what price? Do I need to make the 8 hour trip to Boise just so you all can lament my luck?

Posted this in the garage sale thread but thought I would throw it over here as well. This was a Friday after work pick up at the local Re-Store just $10. I'll probably just clean it up some and re-line the drawers later this winterbac75949cd546252ac67fdf99557cffc.jpg9ead730e95395d756e2a08f8cd32082b.jpg

My Blackhawk torpedo. About a year and a half ago I posted an inquiry on this site about it, then forgot the name of the forum. I found it this week. I am sorry if someone thought I was a troll.

That has to be the most beautiful box and set I have ever seen! Thanks for showing it.

Interesting note -

I saw a Blackhawk Porto-power torpedo box with tools last weekend at a swap meet. The guy knew what he had and was asking $350.

I found this SK box in Rileysan's back yard. It had a bunch of "junk" in it, but I saw enough items that I could use that it convinced me.

The first photo is of the box and contents. It also shows some extra items from the same sale, namely oxy/acet. bottle caps, and emergency triangle to replace a broken one in a set I have, a 24" long 1/2" twist drill (factory made), a "Pony" brake rivet tool, and a SK 1/2" 42470 ratchet. In the back corner are a cup brush, boiled linseed oil, and P&C 1710 wrench I got at other sales. All the stuff from this sale cost me $30.00.

The box is a #1502 Auto Mechanics Tool Chest. It is shown on Twertsy's site in the 1943 SK catalog, but with a round leather handle instead of the stamped steel handle on this one. I guess that this one is wartime or early post-war. The box has a very dark brown wrinkle finish. There is no evidence of a paint job. I was able to close and latch the box at the sale, but it took some light body work at home to make it close easily. The handle on the tray appears to be brazed on one end, probably a repair.

The decal inside the lid is in very good condition, a wonder since the box seems to have not been given much care.

It was sort of a sad sale, since the fellow was a hoarder, and his girlfriend had made him clean out the garage. He left as soon as the sale started.

There are cars from the 'teen's up [many runners] and paraphernalia everywhere .... But just focused on this stuff this time ....
If anyone has any comments or experience with any of these units - I'm all ears ..

Sun unit in first set looks like it was/is an engine ignition analyzer.
Exide unit is a charger/jump start box.
Allen unit looks like a distributor curve machine.
Bog white boxy thing looks like a refrigerator, and now i'm hungry...

Thanks Al, Thanks for the input.
I have used some of those types of equipment in my younger years.
I was also wondering if anyone had any thoughts on the Craftsman box or the roller with all the screws... :headscrat
I really like the fridge, an old GE unit from the late 30' early 40's I would guess.
He also has some older ones with the mechanical works on top.

I ran into this machinists' chest at the flea market today. The condition was marvelous. So marvelous that I wondered if it might be a contemporary throwback or special anniversary thing. It has a Lufkin badge and transfer decal, and the hasp is also marked Lufkin. Too rich for my blood, but this is the first Lufkin and the first unused vintage machinists' chest I've ever seen in person (that's the original paperwork in the top compartment), so I snapped a few photos.

It good to see you pick up every box I even show a little interest in [emoji106]
Everytime I see something on CL is see later here that you got it.
That Craftsman box is cool I recently picked up the Kennedy version of it that's why I passed. But it caught my eye and had me tempted even when it was $35.
Yet again nice score Brian!!

Thank you! I wanted it when he first listed it, but not enough to pay $35. Once he reduced the price, it was an easy stop for me on my way to Antique Powerland this morning.

But in all seriousness having you around this area definitely keeps me on my toes. My tool budget just isn't a large as yours, so it's nice to see you getting Alot of the cool stuff from around here. 166484fb0e4a745d7794352284fc807e.jpg

Just out of curiosity what were they asking for it? I really dig Lufkin! :)

Not sure if this counts as a tool box or not. Picked it up this weekend from a guy I bought a vise from. I'd like to find another or two

Been looking for a cheap older metal two tier cart to put sides and doors on for a HD shop cart.

Just so happens the guy I bought the vise from, also got this cart from his work. The vise is dated 62 and the cabinet looks old as in about the same vintage. Has the machinery green paint behind the drawer faces. It had tool and die accessorys in it with roller slides.

Just curious if anyone has seen anything like this or maybe knows who it was made by. Fairly stout little cart. 1/8" thick top. (Has a piece of 1/4" on top in the pics also)

Measures 21-1/2-22" wide by 38" long. Has skinny little cast iron wheels.

He might be able to get me another one. Which would be cool to have one for a two with declared supplies for grinding, porting etc.

I just realized what you were saying. I had to see the ad for myself! It's not like he didn't have my name - I included it in our texts back and forth. Perhaps he was protecting my identity?

Headed that way this weekend in case somebody wants a GIANT favor, but no promises...

Just bought this No. 895 Stanley Defiance Tool Cabinet with most of the original tools. I think it's from 1952 or 1953 based on the ads in Popular Mechanics from the time. It looks like it is missing a scraper, a wood chisel, hammer and a pipewrench.549137355c5a4b5d6db8369aad7ccd56.jpgdc9c8eca5e558f2e23cdfaa29d447451.jpg7917e20ea4074d0b4ae56a6594ed457c.jpg947de997619c6079f3c058311543601a.jpg

I have been wondering for the past year what it was that I bought at ReStore, and you have now solved the mystery. Thank you!

BTW - Great acquisition!

Nice find! I've found some interesting tools at the local ReStore lately. There is an original ad for this set and the other Stanley sets on page 238 of the December 1950 Popular Mechanics on Google Books.
