Recently, I have been on a DeWalt kick. A couple of months ago, I bought the DWE402: 11 Amp, 11K RPMs's. Today, I found a deal, at Lowes, two DeWalt DWE402's for $100. The DWE402: 7.5 Amp, 12K RPM's.

With the three angle grinders, I hope it will cut back the changing of the abrasives and allow more efficient workflow. I have some 36 grit flap discs (overlapping with abrasives on bottom), some grinding discs, and some cutting discs. I was also thinking about getting the braided cup brush and/or another type of brush.

What is the best way to go on the wire brushes? Cup, the ones that stick out instead of down? As I understand it, these are more for light cleanup, prior to welding or when you want to just get things off the surface, without getting into the metal. Braided, not braided, coarse, fine, I don't know!

My uses will be cleaning up small projects for welds when building random **** I think up, some small cuts, and making metal presentable, for a gift. I was thinking I could leave the flap disc on one, the grinding disc on another, and the braided cup brush (or whatever) on the third. If I needed to cut or use something else, then change out the abrasive.

With that in mind, which abrasive would be best suited for which angle grinder. I have no interest in buying different models-these three will be it, for a while.

I use the cup brush the least, typically for clean up, knocking BB's off before paint etc..

So I would have a cut off on 1, and different flap disks say a 60 grit and 120 grit on the other 2. Since I discovered quality flap disks I rarely use the hard disks and if needed you could swap one out quickly, same for the cup brush.

Personally I have 6 angle grinders in use, 4.5 inch hard wheel, abrasive cut off, Lennox metal max cut off, 2 flappers 60 and 120 and the cup brush. There is a 7in as well but it only comes out to play when things are serious.

I've got two cheap Hitachi grinders I got on sale at Lowes. Diablo cutting wheel on one, Hobart flap disc on the other. I do need a third to keep a grinding wheel on one at all times.

The other day at Home Depot I noticed they had 2-packs of Ridgid 4.5" grinders for $79 I believe. Might have to go check that out. Can never have enough angle grinders!

Flaps can be very aggressive. 3M makes bristle discs that might be more appropriate for rust & paint removal from sheet metal.
