Hello, I'm trying to remove a broken brass fitting in an air conpressor tank. I sprayed penetrating oil on it two weeks ago and let it sit. It's about 3/8 in diameter, I'm worried I'll break the easy out . Won't budge, don't have a heating torch only butane for solder. 930

I've had good luck with using a hacksaw blade through the centre of the fitting to cut it into a couple pieces and remove it.Some minor cuts in the threaded bung of the tank will seal with the pipe thread dope on the new fitting.

Pick up some left-hand drills - it's possible that when you get close to the diameter of the brass insert that the left-hand rotation might just back it out.

You might have better luck with a pipe extractor than a regular easy out.I say might because in some situations ( brass) actually distorts when using any extractor and ends up tighter than it was.Probably better off drilling it.I've drilled a ton of em out like the other guys are saying.Hacksawed em and used a dremel or die grinder also.Goodluck!

you can also pick up mapp gas for your propane torch, gets much hotter. Other than that I would just drill it
