At least the guy is honest enough to disclose the repair. Seems nicely done, but IMHO it severely diminishes the value. Great paint job tho'

do you know how deep the unit is,
12" deep, or closer to full 17" deep?
Larry and Shiftless, you guys miss this one? One of you has to within driving distance of this one. Unless I'm missing something. It does appear to be pretty rusty.

Wow, that's a big one. Glad shiftless got it, and thanks to Michael for posting. (Now for a restoration thread, right?....)
I know nothing about vise, so not sure if this is a good deal for $110 . It is in Dayton OH.

From the ad:
Wilton 3" Bullet Swivel Vise, Nice Shape Machinist Vice....Operates well...Made in USA......
That'a a fair deal, not a smoking stealing it price but the anvil and side of jaws looks really good which is a indicator of non-abuse, no dings or gouges on them, the back cap is dented in, the main handle is straight and it still has the rubber finger savers. So it looks like it hasn't been abused, It looks complete with base and swivel handles (albeit bent). With a little cleaning up someone should be pretty happy having that on there workbench for $100
Seems like a good price for sure, they seem to be selling on ebay for $130-150 + shipping. I actually have the same vise for sale currently which is in very similar condition except my swivel base is cracked (and was hoping for a little more than this). If anyone is interested I'm open to offers and I think it'll fit in a flat rate box so shipping shouldn't be outrageous. That'a a fair deal, not a smoking stealing it price but the anvil and side of jaws looks really good which is a indicator of non-abuse, no dings or gouges on them, the back cap is dented in, the main handle is straight and it still has the rubber finger savers. Looks like a Prentiss 54 or 514 to me, really clean. $40. Berkeley CA area.

Anybody up for a Wilton? $80, looks nice but I wish the picture was larger. Might pick this one up.
Good looking USA-made Baldor 1/3HP bench grinder in Santa Clara CA for $30. Has the cast-iron wheel guards that are a sign of quality. Juuust a bit far for me to drive to (plus, I already have two of these):

That one is already gone. Hope it was you who grabbed it. That looks to be a Wilton C series vise. Generally considered to be the best they made. $80 is a totally "you ****" price.
Nope still there. It is $250 now.

Maybe a different seller that's flipping it.

That MIGHT happen but what I know happens sometimes it that somebody calls the seller telling him what a great vise it is, made in America, legendary, yada-yada, and he has priced it too low.
Or another scenario goes like this...
A seller gets 4 or 5 calls on his answering machine in the first half hour and decides on his own that maybe he has priced it too low. He then pulls the ad for a while and raises the price.
The fellow I bought my Reed 4C from was surprised that he got 8 calls on it but didn't pull one of those moves on me. After looking it over and saying YES, I gave him $5 over asking. He was pleasantly surprised and told me he was happy to see it going to a good home. He was an older gentleman and had owned it for about 30 years.
