A local Ace hardware should have wire wheels in 4" diameter. Try Amazon for the deburring wheels? :dunno:a

Wish it were that simple on the deburring wheel. Have about 40 open tabs of different sellers, went through all 220smth 3M scotch-brite products one by one. Can find 2 useful products but only available in cases of ten - expensive.

Norton likewise seems to have 1 finishing convolute wheel at 4" also only available in packs of ten.

I'll find something eventually :)

I would just hop on eBay and search for phrases such as:

unitized wheel
convolute wheel
deburring wheel

Sort by lowest and price and go from there...

Picked up this 1/2HP snap on bluepoint for $30.
7" wheels.

No idea why this was bolted to the side shield.
95a09ec38acf9b185af04a6f585ba87e.jpg

Anyone have any idea what model number this might be?

Anyone know how the inner guards come off? Last thing I want to do is break this thing.

Put the outer covers in my simple green tank for a couple days. All the paint and grime just fell off. Quick wipe down with a rag and rinse later..

Dug out the set screws and had time to get one guard off.

This grinder has some serious inner flanges. Had to use a puller to get it off.

It's even keyed.

So I went to look at a drill press today, and this followed me home. Based on the serial number and limited research, I believe it's from the early 40's.

Runs very smooth. I'll need to change out the original plug, but I think I'm going to use it as is.

I paid $20 for it and sadly while researching the Cincinnati Electrical Tool Co, it looks like that may have shut down earlier this year.311bcf6500134c9921205de6f6ebee73.jpgfb04480ff00a7edd506becb24876bfed.jpgce6095dd07cca1bf4eb5ac89da5997fb.jpg

Very nice Don!
I have no regrets, having paid $50 for a Delta like that.
It is the nicest grinder I own (of five).
Mine did not come with the shields though.

I recently bought this old Craftsman. Could not pass it up for $10.
View attachment 669071

It is interesting that it is only rated for 1/3 hp, yet draws 5 amps.
View attachment 669072

This 1/2 hp pre-block draws 5.2

Well, Hell. posting photos here is frustrating to me.
never mind, I guess.

Does this count? Found it under a pile of junk at an indoor flea market. $10. After putting oil in it (it was bone dry) and making a tool rest, it works great. No markings of any kind, I have no idea who made it or when. The nut that holds the wheel on is 25/32 (finally a use for that old wrench haha)

This not my grinder, but it is listed in the Grand Rapids, MI CL.

I have experience with vintage Craftsman Block style bench grinders; but, I have not seen a Craftsman as massive as this one.

https://grandrapids.craigslist.org/tls/d/craftsman-de-pedestal-grinder/6299823692.html

Wow - that is like no other Craftsman grinder I have seen. The logo is from 1953 - early 1960's. But I find no grinder like it in the catalogs I have seen online. Not all catalogs of that era are online however. Thanks for posting the pictures.

I have the same grinder in the same color. It's an outstanding grinder. I'd put it up there with the best of them.

I just sold it today and I'm already regretting it.
It was a smooth running grinder but I have just too many including a bigger 1/2Hp bluepoint by Kingston Conley which I'm currently slowly restoring.

Use the "Go advanced" or the "post reply" to post, then use the "paper clip" or the "manage attachments" to load pics in a post as thumbnails. You can also use the postcard/URL to link the full sized pics:

There is a similar one that just showed up for sale in Connecticut this week. I bet it's made by the same mfg.

The Craftsmangrinder it is amazing. I highly doubt there's anything similar between the comparable unit and that Craftsman. There are too many obvious physical differences in their appearance.

Just was posting my friends millers falls grinder! He inherited it and is in the process of giving it a new cord and grinding wheel! It has no wheel side guards but we can fix that! It looks like it was also mounted on a craftsman motor mount which is the same as the one on my table saw motor [emoji1]Wondering how old this is as well as if anybody has another nicer data plate or any original side shields ?

This is my second one of these beautifully made Craftsman grinders that I found. Don't let the fact that it is rated at 1/3 hp fool you. this sucker weighs like 80 lbs and it is a BIG grinder.

I found this one in NY, paid $75 for it.

For those of you who haven't seen one of these before notice how the work lights are cast into the side shields. Just a work of art:thumbup::bounce:

Picked this Black and Decker up for something like $20. Un-grounded plug and a bit beat but the motor was good and even the bearings were in good shape.

All I did was clean it, oil it, rewire it, paint it, add new wheels and build new tool rests and I have been using it now for going on 2 years. I have a newer Delta grinder that is not nearly as smooth or powerful. The Black and Decker keeps spinning for over 2 minutes when you shut it off, the Delta about 40 seconds.

ALL: sorry for the bad picture, but picked up this one today and i think it had more of a stand or some other part of it underneath it. i can set it in a vise and turn it so it might actually work.

anybody own or see one of these? ask if you want better pics too cause i'm able to do that if needed.

cheers

Both my B&D grinders are like that. Lots of weight in the shaft and rotors, and really good bearings.

My Craftsmans, Blue Point, & Baldors slow down in less than half the time that the B&Ds do.

Van Dorn 1/2 HP, 8" buffer/grinder. I haven't tested it yet as it needs a new plug, but the bearings have no play and the wiring underneath looks fine. Paid $10.
