That could have been nasty with the power. Sounds like some one did not do the job properly.

Yes Simon
The field supervisor was very embarrassed and wanted to take Ann and Me out to dinner

The Ice Cream parlor is looking awesome! That's funny that the police got a tour of The Party Garage while waiting around  Glad to hear there was no damage from the power lines :wtf:

Thanks Bears Fan
The parlor seems to get a little better each day. Today I received the new SS refrigerator and 3 signs from Ebay so tomorrow I'll spend some time out there again.

REALLY?!?!?! What, did they send the apprentices out to do the work??
Shoddy workmanship like this could lead to loss of life and property. There is no excuse.
Sorry for the rant but this is inexcusable IMHO.

Ya Finallygotit
I overheard the 2 supervisors talking and someone was either demoted or sent packing they didn't know which but they were all apologetic about the whole thing. But they loved the garage

Certainly not the typical power company project.
Certainly the typical Don Long project on the parlor.
Having a police appreciation function could get you a top of the heap response in the future. I'm sure they appreciated the Party Garage and would also like to have a little function there. Not that you need more to do.

Thanks for the encouragement Andy

You are right about the cops. They started the tour in the light but the power went off before they were finished so they asked if they could return to finish the tour

If you only had some donuts and ice cream:dunno:, now were talking 24 hour protection:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

That a good one Herb

The other day before the power problem, I returned home from lunch to find to motorcycle cops in my front yard asking if they could see the garage.
I guess that one of the guys BILs was here with a car club a few months ago and showed him pictures that he couldn't believe so he wanted to see for himself and he had mentioned it to his Sarg who showed up when he heard the fire call and he brought 3 other officers with him (I believe their visit was unofficial)

Ouch. lol
Don looking good. Looking forward to getting a burger and then a 'naner split after the safety test drive.

Hey Don, shops lookin GREAT! So glad to hear you're back to 100%, kinda seems like you're being tested, fires, scorpions (yes, saw the pic of the nasty lil critter). Love the mesh grille, I think something like that would look great on a chevy truck, like maybe a blue 2001 Silverado, LOL

Don: sorry i've not read or posted on GJ or your thread for a couple months. your thread is one of my favorites that is for certain.

i just have started reading some of the posts and saw some great and not so great things going on. first of all i hope your ticker is working better and glad to hear the Party garage didn't burn down.

i'll post more soon, but still trying to catch up and finish a few more projects around here at home before the rains start in again.

cheers and feel free to post on the GET HEALTHY THREAD I started a couple years ago and here's the link. we talk about a lot of stuff, but mainly just a place to chat about health issues and successes and possible solutions.

https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=298568

take care and looking forward to reading more about all your travels and the new ice cream parlor and other things.

Really nice grill work. SS mesh?

Give me a PM if you decide to pay us a visit. We'd love to have you drop in

Evening Don

I've read most of it and love it all, but the ice cream parlour tops it all, a "99 with a flake" please. The 'vet looks fantastic, great work all round.

regards
Steve.

Hi Steve
Thanks for taking the time to read through this chaos I'm glad you are enjoying it. The Icecream parlor has been a fun project for me and the Vette is coming close to paint.
??? "99 with a flake" ???

Throw on some raspberry vinegar and and I'm back home in Stockport as a boy!

David

David

That sounds terrible. Do you know what a 99 with a flake is?

Thanks for the visit Lamar (BuickFarmer)

I have driven the car a ways and let it idle in the garage for a while and have had no overheating issues. Knock on wood.

Today I felt like just puttering around so I started in the ice cream parlor hanging signs and moving things around a bit and Here is the latest shot of the parlor.

2017-09-20 16.23.31 by don long, on Flickr

It's almost finished however as Ann and I were sitting in there this afternoon eating some ice cream it hit me that we need a wet sink to wash dishes and clean up so I'm on a hunt for a stainless sink to install over by the little door at the back of the room.

I also tinkered with the Radio Rancher wagon.
Remember this little project I started a couple months ago

IMG_0370 by don long, on Flickr

It looks like this tonite and I still need to finish the railing.

i'll just have a chocolate banana milk shake please and can i have what's left in the blender cup after it's served in one of those cool old milkshake glasses? :bounce:

always fun checking in on you and i'll make my corvette comments over on your other thread, but safe to say it's probably going to include something with WELL DONE SIR again.

how was the crop from the garden this year and is your crop still growing cause we just cleaned ours up?

Damn Andy

I thought you knew

Everything you touch, turns to gold.

Corvette progress, as with Rancher wagon, is just perfect.

Thanks Grizz

It would only turn to gold if I sold them but so far I haven't figured out how to part with my stuff

The wagon looks brand new. Great job!

Now the trick is to finish the thing and not let it sit for another month

Here is a shot of the garden mid way through the summer

We ate out of it all summer and we are still eating from it. Ann has planted in it again for the fall season.

The old man's a painting! Who knew? I thought it was you standing there, Don.

I've had a 99 with a flake but didn't really know why it's called that. The ones we had the flake of chocolate was in at an angle :lol_hitti

My wife has had many fun hours playing in her garden and bragged every time she served up food from it

Evening Don,

Sorry for any ice cream related consternation.

No problem here Steve

I should have thought to ask Google for help. Most guys were scratching there heads like Me

OH, and your odometer rolled over to 200 pages Don. Is it time to change the virtual oil?

Getting ready for a big red barn sale has taken up my time lately
Today I set up an electrolysis tank to clean up a BUNCH of old rusty tools for the sale. Thanks to the help from guys here I was able to build a tank and it's working well (pictures to come) I finally talked my buddy Pat into selling off some of his vintage tool collection and we have been sorting out his stuff. So far we have gone through 8 tool boxes full of stuff.

Best wishes for an excellent sale.

Don: I was very impressed with your first go at an enclosed raised bed garden area and then you show pictures and it looks like a small farm. WELL DONE and yes if i was you or your bride i would brag too cause it looks like it is producing some great stuff. thanks for putting up a picture and nice that you get a couple crops a year.

not that i NEED any more tools, but I PM'd you with my email and if you have time to send me a few pictures of your stuff maybe i can find a NEED.

I love your Ice Cream guy that i'm sure is what a few of the members look like that have great hearts in behind that grumpy look.

cheers and hope you are feeling great or at least improving and since you haven't mentioned any issues i'm assuming you are on the mend. are you?

I took a tour of Rick Hendricks privite mueseum at Hendrick Motorsports and your shop reminds me of it. He has a Dairy Queen, Drive in movie theater, ridiculous amount of 427 corvettes, copo and Yenko Cameros's replicas of many stores and his second dealearship office. His is mainly cars no work being done in there just 400 cars sitting in the a/c. Also has a awesome loft with 100's of signed guitars and a few helmets. And a conference room with a massive glass table sitting on a corvette chassis. I would have some pics but they don't let u take any. Awesome shop Don
