Steven, congratulations on the new place. Has to almost be bitter sweet after all of he work you've put into this one but it will be your dream place and I know all about having plans change to acquire that.

Looking forward to seeing the new place transform as this one has.

Wow. Looking great. We're smoked out too and with a little time to surf, I became stuck in the GarageJournal vortex reading every post and looking at the detail of your shop - Amazing!
I live in Spokane and work in Wenatchee looking at a similar giant piece of concrete on the same river, but just a few miles downstream.
Chase your dream!

Right on! It's cool to meet someone on here that close to home! Thanks for the kind words. The shop gives me an outlet I need in life.

Just looked at a smoke map. Wow!!

Contractor just left. Lot is ready for compaction and crushed rock tomorrow. To say I'm excited would be a massive understatement!

Before photo of the shop driveway.. Tomorrow he will shape, compact and put the same rock down on the drive.

Very nice improvement, looks much better!
I hear you about the wild fires, were chocked out. I live in Boring " east of Portland on the way to Mt Hood" its was covered by the smoke and ash from the Eagle Creek fire in the Columbia Gorge.

Thanks for stopping by. I know Boring, OR. I lived in Portland for a long time prior to moving out here. The fires are horrible.

Contractor has ran the roller over the lot. Rock is next!! I am so damn excited!

Thanks for stopping by and commenting guys! I am really happy with the results. I would love to have a concrete drive, but it's not in the budget... yet.

Greetings! do you have time for a Upholstery question?
I'm building a 1956 ford F-100, currently working on bodywork.
I would be interested in your opinion on Sound deadener and insulation.
I'm getting ready to final prime the cab and would be interested on your view.
I have used "Q pads" and also bed liner on the areas behind the Upholstery in the past. Can you think of any does and don'ts from Upholstery stand point.
I also moved 26 yards of gravel today (-:.
Thanks for your input!
Greg.

Congrats!
Looking forward to seeing what you'll do with it
Thank you!!

Congratulations ! That deal moved quickly.
That was part of the deal. Offered on a Friday, with closing four weeks later. It went quick!

Congratulations! and thank you for the other information.
Happy to help! One of the things I really dig about Garage Journal is the community we all choose to create with one another. Happy to share the bits of info I've picked up along the way!

Congrats on the new home as as above will be interested to see what you do with this building.
Thank you! I'm equal parts horrified with another project and thrilled with how cool this place can be with some work!

I will toss in my congrats as well! New project car to fill up that third bay? :)
Thank you! Nothing.. yet :)

Thanks for following along, commenting and cheering me on guys! I appreciate it!

SD: i knew when i heard you had a guy to clear the lot where the mobile home was that it would be a great idea. i didn't know for sure you picked the right guy for the job or that it had a basement. it's looking AWESOME and i bet the neighbors are happy you showed up in their neighborhood.

nice looking garage with apartment you just purchased too. i know paying for all of this stuff must have you working 24/7 so any thoughts of getting a couple workers so your side upholstery biz is a full time gig?

everything you are doing has been top notch so keep up the good work and remember to take a day off now and then just to SMELL THE ROSES and take a break so you don't burn out.

cheers

Drives:: thanks for stopping by! I get my share of downtime ;)

Started prepping for some more outside painting. Pressure washed. Ready for some stucco patching, crack filling and so forth. Then, masking and painting! It will be another big transformation. I’m starting with the remainder of the stucco portion of the shop. When that’s done, I’ll move on to the rest of the cinder block.

Current after pressure washing all afternoon..

What did we do before we discovered power washers? Love them things. After using up a couple of consumer grades we popped for a commercial model. More power is good.

Oh man! I can’t believe how useful the pressure washer is! I bought a Karcher electric model off Amazon. I’m really happy with it. The “turbo” nozzle does a great job on concrete, prepping the roof for coating and all of my exterior paint prep. It also cleans concrete so well!

As these projects go... prep work is taking a bit of time. Alas I believe I’m ready to mask doors, windows and a/c unit after I get some lunch. Then I’ll get the primer sprayed today! It can be top coated in an hour. Time will tell if I get a top coat on today.

I did a lot of bandaid work on the old stucco wall. I feel good about what I’ve done in an attempt to preserve what’s there. It may need to be completely reworked someday, but it’s a ton better than it was. PT plywood glued and screwed with mortar between it and the concrete stub. I poured a few patches with the mortar mix as well.

Drives:: thanks for the continued words of encouragement!

Ken:: donor car. Gonna pull the LT1/4L60e and junk the rest.

Primer yesterday and first coat of elastomeric topcoat just finished! Second coat of grey tomorrow. This is soooo much work. It’s going to look great. I’m ignoring the part where I have two walls left..
