I'm looking for a short storage cabinet. I'm wanting it to store basic supplies and consumable in my work area in the shop. I want a basic standing cabinet. I intend to but it in a rolling base with a set of drawers I have that holds several other supplies I use regularly.

I've seen Sears' Craftsman cabinets but haven't been overly impressed with them. So I decided to check out Menards. They have a line of Masterforce garage storage options. They had a short cabinet that's the perfect size. I went to the store. However, the display is way up on a shelf where you can't actually check out the quality of it. So I bought one. I opened it and I'm not impressed. It's going back. The metal is thin and flimsy. Plus they're new "easy set-up" doesn't look like the strongest construction idea. Not worth what I paid for it

This is what I picked up. Like I said the size is great. Over 30"x30" plus 24" deep is perfect. I defiantly am looking for something that is 24" deep. The 16" cabinets just seem like they lack space.

Any suggestions for me? I've searched local places, sales, Craigslist, even Facebook market place. No luck finding any used cabinets or anything I could repurpose to use.

There is an Edsal cabinet available through Menards. It's not available in store but I can order it online and pick it up in store. It's not quite the same size, but it has a good depth. Plus it's made in USA. From what I've seen before Edsal is usually good quality. It's also cheaper.

Has anyone used or seen any of the cabinets available from ULine? After some more searching I found they have some. Roughly the same price as the cabinet from Menards. Just not sure what their definition of "industrial" is.

Keep on watching CL and auction sites.
Those type cabinets a very common.

You should not pay over $25.00

I use antique gas station merchandising cabinets. They're cheaper than new ones and have a lot more personality.

This, so much of this. I've got three old auto parts cabinets and they are great for holding everything. The most I've paid was 50 and it was a very nice early 70's AC Delco cabinet.

Do they have to be metal cabinets?

If not, then look around for wooden kitchen cabinets that people put out to the curb when they upgrade their home, or see if any big box stores have some 'scratch and dent" stuff laying around for cheap. Most of the cabinets that are intended to go under counter tops are 24 inches deep like you want.

I have a bunch of old wooden kitchen cabinets in my garage for storage. I put the wall cabinets on the wall obviously, but I also have two of the floor cabinets that are normally installed under countertops that I made into rolling cabinets in the garage.

I mounted the two door floor cabinet to a square base I made, then added some wheels to the base. This allows me to roll it around my garage. I cut the section of countertop that was still attached to it up, and sized it to fit right to the edges of the cabinet so it would not overhang the sides or the front and back of the cabinet.

This may be a bit "ghetto" for some people, for something I got for free, and easily customized to exactly what I wanted, is priceless to me.
