And here are some photos of the other tools I picked up today, starting with the swivel socket clusters...

A friend's Aunt"s husband passed away (Bus mechanic) and asked my friend her nephew to come over and get his tools. There is a vintage Craftsman toolbox a little above waist high in a shed with Snap On & Mac tools along with Ingersol Rand Impac tools. My friend has no use for them so he is giving them to me. We will go and get the toolbox next week. These tools were in a small tool bag she gave us. The sockets on the rack are Snap On 1/2 inch. I'll post the rest when I get the toolbox.

Outstanding! That is a mighty gift from your friend. Of course, now you're on the hook to work on his car :)

Is that an S-K "Frankenstein" ratchet I see in that picture?

I had one of those Frankenstein ratchets.. I traded it because I grip ratchets near the head and it was always changing directions on me when I was using it... Looks like there is a half inch drive rhft in the tool lot ! Very good price [emoji1]

Thanks. Yes that's exactly what my friend said. That is a "Frankenstein" ratchet. Another curious piece is the 1/4 inch breaker bar. It's about 6 and a half inches long has a round stamped marking on it, and the letters and number "A6F" If anyone can clear up the mystery I would appreciate it. Thanks.

I stopped at two sales this morning and netted these items.

First one I got the corner clamps, the Yankee hand drill with a lot of bits, the roughness scale, the little Craftsman wrench, and pilot hole bits along with a set of house phones that's already in the house for $6.

Then I got the reelcraft reel at the other sale for $10, I didn't even haggle her down.

Now to go work on taking a playhouse apart!

Some wheelhouse/sweet spot stuff today. The 5-gallon QMC can is a 1945 Rudy. That OTC 1/2-inch drive hinge handle is shown in GMTK manuals. Both of the long 15* pattern DBEs are also wartime. The Crafty CI is humdrum, but the other one is a Barcalo 11/16 x 3/4, which is not an easy size to find. And the Williams bantam ratchet fills a hole for a set I have going.

Got this old Campbell Housefield 2 cyl compressor today for $12. Works fine, but the tank has a couple of pinholes.

Nice finds guys! Lugz, great find on the Jerry can! how is the inside?

Pop, scrap the tank on that compressor or make a smoker out of it. Tanks are easy to find, but you don't want to take a chance on one that has developed pinholes...

Well, I can say I had a good day! A very good day! Watt I lacked on quantity, I made up for in Quality for a couple of things! :pimpflash (Wait for it!)

And I nearly didn't go! :shocking: (lots more to do to prep for next weeks hunting trip)

First stop had promise, but I passed on all but a roll of 1" nylon webbing... $5

Most everything else was at the HS flea.

Lugz may be interested in this one: Right off the bat I spotted this Army long coat. double layer, AND has the button in wool liner. Very good condition, AND it fits perfectly!

Guy wanted $25, I offered $20 and he said "take it!" :rocker:

The emblem is for the "Big Red 1"... Very Cool!

Smalls at the Flea: Giant safety pin for a buck and brass hinges to help replenish the supply of hinges I about wiped out building the camping boxes for a buck each:

Skipping one last flea market item for the next post (Wait for it)

On to a TOO Yard sale: A pair of wrought iron candle sconces: $2 all.

So I was VERY happy with the Big Red 1 jacket find, but this one took some will power to stay calm...

I'm standing next to it looking in a box deciding if I want to bend down and dig, and I see this:

attachment.php

My Brain is immediately :willy_nil and thinking "is it a Baby, or a 2-1/2" toddler?" I'm trying to remain composed, and calm, and not pounce on it. I squat and lay hands on it, (Now it's MINE! only Q is HOW MUCH?). I look for the people and finally ask this woman and she's like "Oh I don't know..." and looks around and hollers for her husband several booths away across the "road"

He comes over and says "What do you got? That little vise? Five Bucks."

"Sold!"

I paid right then, and THEN stooped to see of anything else was worth getting!

So it's my FIRST Baby Bullet! 2", in really good shape, not beat very hard! Should clean up well!

This is one Wilton I'm keeping! :rocker: (I've sold or traded every other Wilton..) I need to go dig, but I MAY have the power arm for it? :headscrat

I may go back later to see if a Mil Spec lantern is still there at another booth... I was so jazzed I left without going and making an offer...

More pics as found: (the Nail is pretty ugly, but I'm not complaining!
:bounce: )

Nice finds folks! Outlaw, I plan to remove the mount base from the top of the compressor and junk the tank. I really don’t need this thing, but it works and it was $12.

Been kind of a dry spell for decent tool sales lately. Picked up a few misc tools, some rope and a three tier plastic display shelf I'll use for my diecast collection for $7 at an estate sale two blocks away.

Had more time and room to dig in the second half price day of the estate sale. $15 bought a few Stanley Surform planes, extra blades, box of bits, coffee can of hardware, scrapers, and a nice little hand grinder.

Dang, Brettjull. Now another pile of those turns up. Pristine looking too. You guys are making it look too easy.
Yea we might be running into old employees stuff? There was a couple more but another person was interested so I gave up a couple. I figure I'll give away a few to buddies and keep a couple for me

Drove right past three yard sales in Ocean City NJ to get to this (SWMBO in her broad-brimmed straw tiara, two of our daughters and the lab pup). Onesies, Little Tikes yard toys, chewed up second-tier novels, rusty kitchen appliances, and broken beach chairs is all I rubber-necked - no reason to stop.
Meanwhile, my son drove through the Badlands yesterday, having stopped at Crater Lake, Mt Rainier, Glacier, Grand Tetons...I honestly don’t know why he’s returning to PA - there is nothing on a par with any of those places here. I don’t think he’s stopped at any garage sales, so no poaching worries.

So like usual lately I am a week behind in updates. Last Friday I went to an estate sale that looked good in the preview pictures. it got better, it was the estate of a guy who worked at Sears. I was a kid in a candy store! Spent $120. Here is the Craftsman and Sears stuff, will post the rest later.

Pic 1: Never used router and shaper bits.

Pic 2: Tap and die set, mirror and pick set in pouch, hydraulic rivet gun, drill bit case, Dunlap grommet tool? Crown logo stapler, Crown logo router bit case with some bits, punches and chisels, boxes of staples and other stuff.

Pic 3: Made in USA vise, 2 sets of router stencils, single bit axe.

Pic 4: Sears machinist chest, I think this is late 70's early 80's

Pic 5: The best deal of the bunch, NOS ratchet repair kits of which six are for RHFT ratchets! are for the 50's vintage ratchets and one box was just various leftover parts, mostly new.

Pic 6: Sears store double sided sign that would hang inside. After I got my original pile paid for one of the makers mentioned it and showed me where it was hiding at!

Well, I had what I thought was going to be a promising estate sale just north of me, barn, house, shop, the works. Some interesting vehicles in the pics too! Well, it was kind of a bust. Over priced vehicles ($5200 for a Saab Sonnett that had been parked for 30 years.)
Searched and searched, all I found was a draw knife and a 4" Cresent adjustable. Truly the whole thing was just depressing. Then I went to another ES that looked kinda promising. Found some Snappy G sockets, couple Plomb and Long C Craftsman. Proto needle nose and a weird sanding block. Also a Plomb extension and two SO extensions. Weird thing is all 5 SnapOns were the same size (3/4) the two Plombs were the same size (7/16) and the 3 Craftsman were 5/8. Didn't notice, got greedy...

Today was mostly working on the house, but stopped in the restore for a minute and found this:

Craftsman belt sander, minus the table and disk. If anyone has a lead on decently priced parts, I would be interested!
