Tilt hood or alligator hood? They have a real c channel frame rail in front and the engine sits deep I the frame so height shouldn’t be issues, length maybe, put a ln cab and hood on it and it would be factory lookingThe F700 is not much larger, so it could be an issue as well.
Slowly knocking items off the list as I keep fabbing
Intercooler mounted, one ic pipe down, hood latch is an issue currently that I hope to fix tonight
NiceNice! I had to figure out a place for the ford temp sender in the cummins engine on my swap. I ended up taking the factory cummins one at the back of the head, cutting off both ends, drilling out and tapping the ford one right in.
Cool, this engine is 93 build vintage but didn’t come out of a dodge plant.Following with interest.. Love the look of the individual valve cover 5.9.. For a period in 1992 and 1993, I would occasionally run the station that installed those at the Columbus Midrange Engine Plant (Dodge / Ram / Chrysler)..... Install the valve covers, do the sub work (cover/seal) and "tamp" the rubber seal between the injector and the fuel line......

It’s a nice looking engine especially with all the clutter gone, need to make simple heater hoses, and glad I’m using the ford intake horn instead of ugly dodge style everybody uses
Cool history, own a lot of consolidate diesel then. 95 8.3 p pump laying on a crate, pair of 93 5.9 and 8.3 in the gradall, and the case skid loader has a 4bt I’ve rebuilt alreadyYep.. that "other" plant (in the US) was a joint venture between Cummins and JI Case called Consolidated Diesel.. They produced all this size (and the 8.3 displacement, along with the 4 cylinder version of the 5.9 (3.9)) for Case, and the balance went to Cummins customers.. When the Columbus plant was opened for Dodge, we were both supplying the engine to them.. at Dodge City and in Mexico.. We also had a plant at that time in the UK making this size engine, as well as others spooling up (joint ventures in particular). I remember the Ford style intercooler cross over well.....
Well it’s not sleeved.....I have a 5.9 cummins that is ford badged, I wanted to use it to replace a worn out one in my freightliner, but I am almost thinking rebuild may be better. How bad is a 5.9 rebuild?

Might have more valve clearance than valve cover clearance currentlyWhat thickness of feeler gauge do you use to measure the gap between the firewall & rear valve cover?![]()
Just kidding, it does look like a tight squeeze though. I like your plan to have it factory "appearing", by using as many Ford items as you can.![]()

Simple engine but will require machine work, not a simple in frame and spin in bearings
I just had a machine shop rebuild mine, and the whole bill was under 2500 not including the pump. The pump was another 1000, but it's good for 450hp now.
