As a long-time Toyota enthusiast (I've had the same Toy truck for 17 years now), I have to ask: I know this is a garage site, but how come most of these Jeep pics are sitting in a garage and/or being repaired? :fawk:

Here's my old '00 TJ that I sold a couple years ago in order to get a better daily driver for my ~80 mile roundtrip daily commute:

I'm sure having WAY too much lift on short arms didn't help him out at all.... looks like easily 6-7" of lift in that pic.

Also WTF is up with the car in the background?!

My XJ was sitting on a 6.5" RC suspension (post #40)..his looks a lot higher than mine..could be his smaller tires?? But yeah, i agree..the extra height from the lift doesn't help your stability at all.

it wasnt a stabilty thing....it was the sudden end of a cliff. I believe its a 6" lift, but the small tires hes running make it look taller.
He had a new body on it a month later and its back in the mud

Only pic I have of it with a garage around. This was from a day or two after I got it (the maroon one). Had to steal dad's wheels/tires to see what I really needed for lift to fit em well. Stock I actually had no problems with the 33x10.50's, assuming I would never unhook the swaybar!

Picture733.jpg

I did a few configurations, but eventually ended up as low as possible with 33x10.50's (short of doing something major, like a high-line). 2" front lift, 1" rear, and proper bump stopping.

Re: Jeep Garages ONLY Need Apply
How do you guys get away without having fender flares ? I am not posative, but I think here in NH if your tires stick out beyond your fenders they need to be covered by flares.

Not required here in Indiana but I plan on getting some Poison Spyder fenders with a 3" flare so that should cover most of the tire

Hello, A friend has a 1980 CJ5 for sale. 4 cylinder, manual, one owner, no mods. I'll take some pictures when I get his shop key. Jeep in is Amarillo, TX. O and I have a 1986 Grand Wagoner as a shop vehicle. Love those plastic window gear/strip. 930

Why? Something special about the German version?

Well... they do have the diesel versions in Germany/Europe, but this is not one of them.

I should have explained... I lived in Germany recently for 4 years. We just moved back to the States in June. I bought the XJ from a Chief Master Sargent over there, its an American spec vehicle. I was just saying, I had it shipped back over with us since I spent so much time and money building it over there. Its nothing special, the XJ is originally from California, bought new by the CMS, then taken to Idaho, from there to Japan, from Japan to Germany, and now back to the US with me. Its been around the world, so I guess thats kinda special?

:D

my stock commander with a 2'' suepsnsion lift, need bigger tire next summer:)

While I'm sure there is a name-plate on there somewhere that has the letters "J-E-E-P" I'm not entirely sure that's a Jeep. :wtf:

If you don't wheel it, it ain't a Jeep.
It's cute, and I'm sure it does a lovely job hauling groceries home from the market and makes a great place to put child-seats. But I cannot in good conscience put that in with the likes of some of the other JEEP specimens we've seen here.

Possible exemptions to this would be:
1) if you built/re-built/ significantly modded it yourself.
2) did something cool like a diesel/big-block swap.
3) wheeled it on a trail where body damage is immanent.
4) it's been around the world (cause yes Stump, that IS cool)

sorry sir, im a french canadian, not so good in english, i read the first post and i tought they wanted us to post picture of only jeep, sorry if my jeep is not a real jeep:) cause i saw some other jeep (like the second post with the blue jeep, have nothing to do with the 4 item in your list)

OK guys... time for a picture & idea thread for "Jeep" garages. NOT any old 4X4 now... No Yotas, or Broncos, or Ricer IFS vehicles. No tube buggies or rock crawlers. No FJ's. Your vehicles must have had a VIN number at one time and manufactured in Ohio or Michigan. (unless older Willys or non-US) I just thought this up while at work so I'll get mine up soon. Jeepskate, I know you can start

Didn't know this was now Pirate 4x4.

I posted my TJ earlier. My company car / daily driver is a 2wd KJ. It's still a Jeep, even though I hate the thing.

I think my point was missed... it was a :lol_hitti
I wasn't trying to be all hard-core like POR, but rather more good natured ribbing, as in "one of these things is not like the others".

Honestly though, Jeep has built a lot of stuff lately I'm not a fan of (compass, liberty, commander, yadda, yadda).

I hope jeep starts building econo cars and wranglers. in the not so distant future Jeep needs to raise their fleet average fuel economy to 35 mpg. there needs to be something that gets a high mileage number to offset the low mileage numbers wranglers will always get. Well, low mpg barring some amazing technology or ruining everything that makes them cool...

Long time jeep fans hate many of the new vehicles with the jeep name slapped on them. But they are saving the entire reason we like jeeps. be happy that jeep took that route as opposed to making the jk aerodynamic, IFS and low.

I'm sure you all have or owned a "It's a jeep thing you wouldn't understand" stickers. Was behind a guy in a Ford yesterday that said "I caught your Jeep thing and now it burns when I pee." I thought it was hilarious!!

'Zactly. A Wrangler on it's own would not last. Not enough market penetration to survive the cost of doing business these days. Must have a supporting cast. Be ********* all you want, but you must accept (begrudgingly) that the Jeep name plate will be on many vehicles that can not, will not, and do not need to be Rubicon capable.
