Caps for air tool quick connect fittings

I'm looking for a source for rubber or plastic caps for the quick connect fittings on my air tools. Here in Northern VA, we have mud daubers that like to build their mud nests inside any pipe or opening. I regularly have to disassemble and clean out the quick connect fittings on my air tools because of this (and god help you if you forget and blow all that mud and bug eggs into your air tool... ). And yes, the little #@$&@# bugs even do this to air tools stored inside the drawers of my tool box - not to mention pieces of brake tubing and vacuum hose.

Yeah, I can easily get vacuum caps and push them over the fittings, but I'm looking for something with a molded-in tether, like the caps used on some brake bleeder fittings, so I don't continually lose the caps. Thanks in advance for any help.

I bought a bunch of them for my air tools and they work very well. They're made from a flexible rubber and fit tightly on the end of the air connector. Only problem is you have to take the air connector off to put them on because the rubber doesn't stretch enough to allow it to just slip over.

Stud terminal battery's come with a cap on the positive terminal that work great on I/M plugs.

Awesome, thanks. I'll also check HF (thanks for that suggestion also). I looked at cap vendors like Caplugs and couldn't find anything that was the correct size.

Low tech solution: Leave a tool attached to the end of the hose at all times. Store spare tools on a wood block with finish nails sticking up and slide the coupler over the nail. With the opening occupied, no mud daubers!

Please go back and read the part about "with a tether" in the first post. Loose vacuum caps get lost.

I am always looking for a job around the house that will require (justify) me to buy a new tool but... buying a $50 spool for the 3D printer would equate to about $10 per cap for my small arsenal of pneumatics.

I think I will go with the earplug idea.

A valid point, but then you have a new tool and a new stock. Who knows what you will get yourself into?

I bought my small printer on a whim. It was cheap. I'm amazed at how useful it has been.

Honestly thought this was going to be a thread worrying about a little dirt getting in. I can’t imagine realizing I have wasps in my air tools. I hate them.
