I am not sure how much work I want to do to it, part of me wants to go to town and modify it to fit my needs, the other part of me wants to do the bare minimum, then sell it next spring so I can build a trailer exactly like I want. So I may meet in the middle and do a bit of modification, but not spend too much time and effort on it. I really need to do a full assessment on it before I decide what direction I will be going in.

You guys can all laugh at me, I sold one of my trailer hitches at the auction, but I kept one for sure, can't find it, must have spent 30 minutes looking for it. :( I ordered another adjustable hitch the other day, but it won't be here until next week, so for now, I can't move the trailer, at least not easily.

With that conundrum, I decided to adjust the plans, now I will bring in the other air compressor tank, then the burb will come inside. I want to try and get the glow plug harness replaced at a minimum, if I can change the plow harness, that would be good as well. I am not sure I am ready for actually work on a vehicle inside the shop.

$1,100 shipped. It would have been about $1800 to order just the eight trays, I don't need that many yet, but I will once I start setting up the storage wall. I need to play around with sketchup so I can draw things to scale. For some reason I am just not understanding how to draw with that program.

I got the compressor tank inside, setup the pressure washer so I can work on it, moved the Lista cabinet so I can get the trays out of it and install the fixed shelves, and put the burb inside. I guess technically there was one inside, but now there are two. For some reason tapatalk is locked up on me, so I will wait to post pictures. Overall, I feel like I got a bunch done and I am now ready for the wind/rain, of course I can guarantee I will lose power at some point so I still won't be able to get anything done!

I think I am about done with having too many projects. Things keep costing me money and time. As an example, this morning I went to buy a bumper for the suburban. I looked it over, it looked very straight and the back had a bit of rust, no big deal. Apparently I failed to see the thin opening in the chrome, so there is actually a place rusted all the way through. Totally missed it, should not have been that hard to see, but I was caught up in the deal. That is it, things are changing. I don't want this many projects. I started thinking about a couple, then a couple more, then a dozen more, then the hundreds of sub-projects needed to be completed in order to get anywhere near where I would have to be to complete any of them.

I have my current running burb inside, it needs work, then it needs more work, then it needs more work. I can't bring myself to do a half assed job, but the amount of time and effort involved makes me think I should just concentrate on the good truck and complete the project that I really want to do. Yup, no more BS, this is over with, can't stand the feeling of wanting to quit and toss everything. I know if I get back into the project I will be fine, I know that for sure.

Most projects are not worth it for the aged decrepit... I'm talking from experience... Not suggesting the aged part towards you. Decrepit maybe... But that's only from some of your comments.

With the trailers on the ground ... Do you have rot issues?...

Hey if you ever have some questions on sketchup reply here or PM me. Im no pro but i use it for a good number of projects. Curves are still complicated but most other things i may be able to help with.

The two smaller ones are truck boxes and they do are rotting away. The conex is semi off the ground, but when it is in its final location, it will be supported much better and have more airflow.

I think my mentality is to take the easy way for now? Not really sure yet, but that is what I am getting out of it, because everything seems to get exponentially harder when you have done all the easy things.

Well the only productive thing I did today was to bring the area rug to the shop so I could dry it out after washing it. As far as the bumper goes, I crack that up to a cheap wake up call, losing $75 is never fun [emoji20] , but if it kicks me in the *** good enough to start a change, it is probably money well spent. Life lesson number 2,987,469, but who is keeping track? [emoji6] If I have power tomorrow, I will do some updates, if power is out, well I guess I will take a break.

I just spent a couple hours straight watching sketchup videos while messing with it, I think I am getting the hang of it. I have made three renditions of things, the latest one has multiple layers so I can turn things on and off, plus modification is much easier. It is definitely something that the more you use it, the easier it gets.

Now I am into four hours plus of messing around, I have come up with what I think is the best layout for the stockroom, I just need to compare it to the Lista dimensions to see what will work best. I hope to have no dead space and minimal wasted space. I do want large aisles as I hate being cramped.

Sketch Up is great. Tip #1 you used already, use layers.
Tip #2, build sub components off to the side then move into place.
Tip #3. Use groups or components to make small parts then put those together to make a bigger assembly.
I started trying to draw everything on the main model then learned about components. Easier and you call one up when another is needed.
Also I started a Strouty-like pile. It's small but a start. Thanks for reinforcing I don't need to keep every scrap or repairable item. 03fc9568a21d6767404a7acabbcfeed6.jpg

Been there and done that and, have the bad parts to remind me of my bad decision. It happens so don't beat yourself up too long and you'll find a better bumper.

The other mistake is not buying the item when available. I did that yesterday at a swap meet. What do the Pickers say? The time to buy something is when you see it. Well rather than take a chance on a set of headers being wrong but at a very good price I talked myself into waiting and coming back later only to find they had sold to someone else. Would have saved me at least $100 over brand new ones and I was 99% sure they would work but still second guessed myself.
So either buying the unknown bad part happens or, not buying the good part happens. That's life and we have to move on and be ready for that next opportunity.

In your effort to reduce projects it sounds like you need to pick one of the burbs to fix up and use the other as a parts vehicle then scrap it when one is up and running.

Power was out at the shop, probably will be for a day or two. Had to setup generator for one of my tower customers, will be checking in on that throughout the day and night. May be a couple days, two trees on the lines and the road only feeds two houses, so last on the list.

My power was out so as soon as I went to the MIls for Genny got it running and grounded and the freezers plugged in... Power came back. For now anyway. Still windy.

Luckily no damage at the shop, but no telling how long it will be before power will be back on.

My new trailer, well, let's just say it is movable with the right amount of wind. I know if I had chocked the wheels it would have staid, but I never would have thought that it would move. It rolled back into the good suburban, luckily it just hit the license plate frame, still caught me off guard. Also the F350 dump truck's hood wasn't latch all the way and it blew up, roughing up the stops a bit as I had to mess with it to get it to close. At least the Porta potty didn't take a dump.

That the trailer was not pointed downhill, but it was near the downhill section. You can still see the lock that the jack was on.

Here is the tree at the tower site, going to be a while before it gets taken care of, I do get paid for generator service, so I can’t complain too much.

I have actually been working removing a tree from a house, I am not sure if the shop has power back yet, I have it at my house.

I just remembered that I can call my shop phone and see if the answering machine picks up or if it goes directly to voicemail. When I called it is directly to voicemail, so no power still. Oh well, they are saying they think the majority will have power by Saturday.

That's a dangerous tree.. it may well snap back upright if enough of the crown is removed.

I hate when that happens.

CMP sent me an email to let me know that the power at the house up north was back on.
I didn't even know it was off. I only turn the breaker on for a few hours once a year.
My cousin is one of two linesmen in town, he was too busy to call.

I got lucky down here. Power was out for less than 24hrs and no trees down on my street.
The other side of town is still a mess and won't be back up until Friday, at least.

We thought the same thing, we ket preparing for it to do exactly that. Funny part is a neighbor stopped by and said that he cuts trees for a living, he told us that if we didn't install a "Y" to support the tree we were going to take out the entire house. It was almost funny, but we just thanked him. The tree got light, but only when it was about 10' of just one trunk, did it finally go back. We even tried to coerce it with the tractor, but it wanted to stay semi horizontal. :headscrat

The Salvage Garage is back online!

Glad to have things back, now I have to get back on a roll like I was. Momentum was definitely stopped, but I think I can get things moving again.
