Peg Board and Bungee Cord

I don't see this tip mentioned much... Tired of losing your peg board hooks when you grab a tool? Skip the hot glue and try a bungee cord. Weave the bungee around the hook and tie it off in the back of the peg board. It's that simple and hooks stay put.

It's a really good idea, except I can't get at the back of my pegboard. Taking it off the wall to add a new piece of bungee every time I add a hook is not something that's likely to happen with a lazy boy like me.

Good idea, zip ties would work for this too.

Same here. 16' feet of pegboard isn't coming down. Clips mentioned earlier are the way to go for this problem.

I used the bungee cord for a while, I just put a finish nail in it and put it through the hole. I guess that only works with the braided cover kind though. I was using them instead of hooks for open ended wrenches many moons ago

the plastic clips don't do a great job if you have the Wall Control pegboard, but zip ties solve the issue easily. You don't need to get to the back of the pegboard with the zip ties you just have to be patient.

Real 1/4" US made hooks with a back peg don't need any straps or ties. You have to wrestle them in and out.

Those cheap import hooks with no back peg from the BORG a decade ago, the plastic straps all hardened and cracked on me, and I threw the lot away and bought the real thing online.

It saddens me that they are presented as the solution to a problem that should never had existed.

The two piece ones are better than most. I'll see if I can find them online.

This style is what stores use. They can still come off but they are much better.

I long ago gave up on the idea of pegboard and just use a piece of plywood with screws, nails, and screw in hooks. Way easier to use than pegboard, with more mounting options.

1. Don't buy 1/8" hooks for 1/4" boards. If it says "For 1/8 or 1/4 Pegboard" then it's 1/8".
2. Look for back pegs. It's really not that hard.
3. Use Google.
