Thanks to those of you who have educated many of us. Slab for new shop is formed 34x36 and I am going to put 2" schedule 80 in the footer. Is that to big for 2x4 walI? have to run roughly 55ft from the main panel to the footer access. I cant find 2224 urd by the foot but Lowes has 2224 use (I think) by the foot. Can I use the 2224 USE if it is in conduit all the way to the subpanel?
As an aside I am having the concrete guy put in a ufer. I didnt know anything about it till you all enlightened me. The concrete guy has never done one so I asked the electrical inspector about it when I applied for my permit. He chuckles and says the concrete guys don't want any more inspections that slow down pouring.
Separate question. I can pick up wire this weekend 10% off. I was thinking of picking up a 1000ft spool of 12/2 and just using it for all my 120v circuits. Do you think I would use most of it?

Relative to the materials, I would also get boxes, some possibly for fans, switches, outlets, coverplates, staples, circuit panel the whole thing if its a 10% sale. I used #12 for outlets and #14 for lights, but you can also run #12 for lights. Also important is any 3 way switches you want. I put all the lights on 3-way circuits, one for each man-door.

The 2" conduit will fit in a 2x4 wall but that's about the limit imo. Good idea to put nail plates as your studfinder will someday identify that as a stud.

While you are doing conduits, another parallel run for low voltage signal cables would be an excellent idea. Doesn't have to be 2".

As Wylie stated URD which is normally just USE is not to enter the structure because USE is not fire resistant. Make sure the 2-2-2-4 at Lowe's is not actually MHF by looking at the stamped rating on the wire. The rating should be RHH/RHW-2/USE-2. One giveaway is URD has 3 blacks, 1 black w/yellow stripe. Mobile Home Feeder (MHF) has 2 blacks, 1 black w/white stripe, 1 green.

Here is a picture of the spool
It says it is mobile home feeder. Will this work in pvc conduit?

It has to be in conduit above ground. But best to also use conduit for underground for added protection. 2 inch is a good size but 1.5 will also work. Sch 40 is okay, 80 for exposed to possible damage.

Depends on your layout, but I started with a roll of 250'. Bought 2 more before I got it all run.

Picked up spool of Southwire 1000 fir $200 & my panel for $53 it was almost like getting the panel free. I like the plastic spool because I think I can build a stand for it and just pull and straighten as I go. My plan is two 20 amp circuits on each wall alternating receptacles. My lighting will be 4 rows of 4ft led each switchable and since they are running perpendicular to the chords I will have long runs so lots of wire.
I would certainly prefer the smaller conduit but am afraid trying to pull the mhf through 60 ft of it would prove daunting.
Falcon67 your build was the first one I read on here which gave me confidence on the build. Since that time I injured my back so have a contractor drying it in. This is truly a learning experience from lot prep to now having forms up.
Thanks to all of you.

Thanks to all of you.

I've pulled lengths longer than 60' through 1.5" conduit and it's not a problem. Yes 2" is easier, but if you'd prefer to use 1.5" go for it. Technically because 2-2-2-4 MHF has compacted conductors it will fit in 1.25" but it is a challenge and requires lube. Also bending it through a 1.25" LB is hard. Personally I prefer 2", the 2" LB is easier to get the wire to maneuver through.

Just ran 2-2-2-4 URD through 2" this weekend, 125ft and it went easy. Threw some lube in there, but it think it would have been just fine without. The LB bend did ****, but was able to get it done with some wrestling. URD I purchased from HD, website said it was not in stock in my area, however the 2 stored that I had visited had a spool. Good luck with it.

Hope you didn't run that URD inside of the structure, NEC doesn't allow it unless it is multi-rated such as USE-2/RHH/RHW-2. Most URD is just USE-2. Is the cable's conductors 3 Blacks and 1 Black w/yellow stripe?

12" junction box on the wall, and SER through the basement to the panel.
