I have seen a lot worse in forms, by far this is the most "tame" one I have been on. There are a lot of good people on this site, many are here to blow off steam and not have someone tell them what they should or shouldn't do. As many have said above, if you don't like what you are seeing ignore it, if it goes against the rules report it. If your son is younger than 15 you should be monitoring what he is doing on the internet anyway.

Remember nudie calanders? People like the OP are the reason we dont have 'em anymore. Same goes for any number of un-PC things.

Ive had enough with the PC ****. Dont like it... dont look. Im getting mighty tired of the silent majority changing for the vocal minority.

If your worried about your son, wait till hes out in the real world. Trade school and jobsites are 10x worse than the mild stuff posted on here.

Gj is a great mix. Knowledge and the odd "Racy" pic. I wouldnt change a thing.

Perhaps Free Parking isnt the best section for you to browse.

if u need a **** calander get the ******* one i get it every year for something like 14bucks :p but its only calander i know that has **** woman in it. and yes i do have it hanging up at the shop i work at and no onee complains cause unlike john are fathers raised us to be men and admire the female form. so if anyone knows any willd garage tool forums pm me them:lol_hitti

When I open a GJ page there are always plenty of new threads. You shoud stick to the 99.9% of those that don't look to be offensive, nube.

If you are looking for tools for your son. You should not be opening a thread thats called show off your girlfriend. Or pic's of chicks with your cars.

Its that simple. You chose to open threads that are not related to your search.

Then complain about them. :wtf:

Exactly.

Even if the OP has a point, there's so much self-satisfied sanctimonious **** in the OP's message, I don't know where to begin. So I'll leave it there.

Like someone else said too, there's racist language on this forum. I don't agree with it, but I just ignore it. And I actually find some of the "offenders" to have really interesting tool knowledge or commentary on tools and related info.

The other thing that John NEVER mentioned and should have. (if you follow his thinking) The avatars. Please remove anything that may offend John and his son (whom he is protecting from us uncouth garage guys) :bounce::beer::lol_hitti

I like caper's avatar. I find it very patriotic.

Seriously, I must have missed all the good stuff. All I have ever seen is a couple of girls in bikinis standing next to a car. Of course I primarily stick to the actual garage sections, where garages are talked about. IMO, repression makes people act silly about things that are pretty normal and relatively wholesome. I can actually meet a young lady in a bikini for instance, and have a conversation with her without wanting to hump her leg.

I can actually see her as a person, in other words. A person like a daughter. I can also appreciate a beautiful and **** woman without losing my mind, or feeling guilty for appreciating her beauty.

God made women beautiful. That is normal. Getting all wierd about it is not normal.

My Grand Dad actually used to point out the girls without bras to me, because I was so shy, and wouldn't look at them. I think he wanted to find out if I was a regular guy. He used to tell me that when he was a kid, a woman with her ankles exposed was considered scandalous.

He told me he thought it was true too, until an old woman pointed out to him that a woman could raise a long skirt up just as fast as another woman could keep a short one down.

I enjoy this group very much they dont criticize other members with offensive language, they dont yell at me for my lack of computer skills.

For a short time I belonged to another tool group ; One day I got up the nerve to ask for some help;several of the members just exploded into a tirade of yelling. I guess what I am getting at is
this a great group of people please dont be too fast in judging them.

I understand some people don't feel there is a problem, but we don't need to rip on him because of his beliefs. Can we stop the personal attacks?

Men, I have a complaint and an appeal to some of you. A few months ago, when looking for tool information to help my son get his tools for auto tech school, I discovered the GJ and have found the posts very helpful and delightfully informative. I’ve always enjoyed tools myself, and I’m a bit of a backyard tinkerer on my own cars. However, while there have always been a few of you who have seemed to want to push the envelope on the pictures and language that you use, it seems to me that in the last few weeks it have gotten far worse.

In case your tempted to dismiss this as just the complaint of “holier than thou” fundamentalist, I want to ask those of you who’ve been putting the racy pictures and crude language on your posts if you really want to drive people like me away, because that’s just what you’ll do. While I certainly do think what I’ve seen is morally wrong, degrading to women, etc, my complaint really isn’t about how what you’re doing is affecting you—you and your own conscience (and perhaps facing your wives) will have to deal with that. I simply want to make an appeal to you that you ask yourself if what you put on your post is going to be offensive to someone. If you know it will be, why not just have the common courtesy to leave it off. If we’ll simply use common courtesy, all of us can enjoin the interesting discussions about tools—the purpose of this forum after all—and not have to worry about having to make decisions to stop visiting GJ.

Thanks for considering this.

I am offended by YOUR request as are many other members.

I make no judgements about what you find offensive or upsetting, but I firmly believe people have to take responsibilities for their own lives.

Issuing a "request" or a "mandate" or whatever you want to call it that everyone else in the world be on their guard so as not to offend you is doomed for disappointment.

 AGREED!

:pimpflash You are right on the money on all of your points!

I agree with you as well. No room for racist language but everyone is entitled to their opinion.

Or as I have been told before... "If you don't like it, don't let the door hit your *** on the way out!"

:lol_hittiWell said!

Watch out you don't get yourself defanged by the site owner. While his post pissed me off there's no reason for us to dwell on it, the guy hasn't responded back, he probably read the responses and did what he promised he'd do, leave.

Maybe there are tech schools in the bible belt utterly unlike those anywhere else on the planet, but I have a pretty strong suspicion that someone who's so sheltered and unworldly that he can't risk exposure to adult content, even on a board as tightly modded as this one, is going to find it quite the eye-opener!

+1.

As some of the guys i used to work with would say "If you don't like it, go 'ome."
 Although I'm 99% certain you self-censored there ;)

If the OP would like me to reopen this, I will. Otherwise, I think enough people have had a chance to respond...it's starting to get too personal.
