I wrote a Python script thats only 50 lines long. It gets the store price of something at all lowes stores nationwide in only 6 minutes. Works even if the item is no longer on lowes website. It's limited though, only gets the store and price. Would anyone want it? I'm thinking of publishing it somewhere. The best thing is it doesnt use a browser, so you can browse the web without it lagging you.

Count me in as interested!

Guys, do NOT search nationwide with scripts. That is abusing the system (unnecessary database abuse) and system admins do not like that. This is how online price checkers get shut down. If you use a script like I do, only search the stores close to you, where you are willing to travel to. Use common sense, if you live in Texas you're not going to travel to California for a wrench.

Search "Lowe's Price Checker script" and you should be able to locate the code.

I've found many deals using this code, but don't be a ***** and get it shut down for everyone.

I noticed this too. HD *always* asks me why I'm returning the product (i.e. damaged or just not used / needed). Lowes doesn't even ask, they just take it and stick it in their carts with all the other stuff. I *do* tell them if it is damaged, but more often than not I'm just returning something from a project that I did not use. I find it is always easier to buy a couple extra and return what you don't need than to run short and stop working to make a trip just for a couple little things.

Lowes has a nasty habit of putting damaged and returned items back on the floor. I returned a damaged microwave, went back to that Lowes a week later, and there it was back on the shelf. I told the person in appliances about it, she just shrugged and said we'll look into it. 2 weeks later, it's still there. I've also had numerous items that I purchased that you could tell were opened and obvious returns. Funny thing is, I have never had that happen at Home Depot.

Cool! Supposedly there are some Translucent White ones near me, was thinking of building a bigger green house and these would work well...

I've published my Python file. It searches all lowes stores and returns the price of an item. It would be easy to have the script get the quantity, etc. All that info is in JSTEXT, i just havent figured out how to extract that data.

You need to install Python 3x, and modules such as beautifulsoup. Then all you do is edit the .py file and replace the SKU. That's it. It only takes 6 minutes to search every lowes store. It's not dependant on any browser or plugin. You can use windows task scheduler to schedule it.

I think you probably mean JSON? Not sure what JSTEXT would be. I'm not a Python guy, but there have to be a ton of ways to parse JSON if it's not already built in.

This. I pulled my Lowes Price Checker because it was getting abused so bad.

How do you know it's being abused? Do you receive data and traffic reports when a script is ran? I'm not very knowledgeable about scripts and programming.

Lowes started IP blocking people for using it.
This. I have 2 friends that ask me to order stuff because they cannot log on to lowes from any device they have. They get denied when they try. Pinging 2000 stores in a few minutes from one ip address is easy to catch.

Same boat.. used one of these scripts about 10 months ago and now none of my computers are able to access lowes. I spoke to an IT buddy.. he said this very normal.. lowes has a service in the data center to off load traffic where it see's the same ip so many times.. similar to a DDoS attack???.. after a while they add that ip to the dont service list. all i get is access denied now..

I looked through java script today for Lowe's, it was a github for a year or so, so it is not new. I noticed there is a long list of zip codes toward the end of the code. You could simply comment out the portions that are not in your area. That way instead of pinning all the stores in the nation you only ping the ones that you want.

Just checked the script, looks like Cazz wrote it, it is dated 2015 and 2016.

The people saying you will be banned for running a script are liars. They have their own agenda. If your IP is blocked it will be blocked for at most 10 minutes. Even if Lowes banned your IP you can always get a new one. Don’t believe everything people tell you on this forum.

Cazz didn’t remove his script because people were getting banned by Lowes. He removed it because he wanted it all for himself.

Oh and in case you guys don’t know companies use what’s called proxies. Walmart alone has over 100 proxies that serve API request. The thought that someone running a script would DOS Lowes site is the stupidest thing I have ever heard. Lowes probably has hundreds of proxies for their website. A stupid script is not taking it down lol

I don't know who's right or wrong about any of this, but I found some statistics for context: https://www.similarweb.com/website/lowes.com says Lowes.com got 92.08 million 'visits' in the last 6 months, and each visit included an average of 5.37 pages viewed, which works out to an average of over 2.7 million page views per day. That sounds like a ton, but if I'm dividing it correctly, that's only 1,900 per minute. So this kind of traffic bump is probably pretty noticeable if they choose to look for it and if they choose to do something about it.

Those statistics sound way low, maybe they are only counting unique IP addresses or something like that. Those statistics are also based on public traffic, so they are seeing only a fraction of the actual traffic.

Most people are using VPNs for privacy reasons, so blocking an IP address doesn't affect anything.

It's unlikely Lowes would detect or do anything about script use, unless someone were running scripts constantly and continuously.

Re: 2017 Lowe's deals/sales/clearance thread---REBATES

Has anyone else has issues with Lowes' recent 11% rebate? Last month I was at Lowes looking at countertops and the sales person told me to buy it that day to get the rebate. I wrote up the order, and confirmed the rebate with the front desk upon paying. Just got my rebate----it was denied, said it was not covered!

That's over $100 and I was pissed. I had also applied for 2 more receipts under that rebate and another was denied, this time for $100 in wood trim and masking tape. The only one they paid was a lousy $2.01! I don't get it, all the receipts had the 11% rebate listed on them and Lowes only indicated that those items were not covered (my store clearly was).

Anyone else have these issues? Aside from calling the rebate center---which will likely do no good---what recourse would I have? I would not have bought >$1K in countertops that day if not for the rebate savings, and I cannot cancel them.

I too have been having blocked IP issues. Even using VPNs. It's like they somehow blocked my entire mylowes account. I even tried a new account, kept same name, address, CC #s etc. and I still can't place online orders... Haven't tried to create with using new data, yet but... Those who think they are tracking this, they most definately are. That kind of increase in pings will deifnately get noticed eventually.

That's weird. A VPN should give you a new IP. Figured a VPN would work in this situation. I guess not.

I've read in the past where people had similar situation as yours. Calling up rebate center got it approved and processed...

GUYS - If you want to talk scripts / IP blocking, please do it in a different thread, this is for posting deals, not bickering...

So, speaking of Lowe's deals. I bought a sheet of formica the other day using a gift card I bought online.

The sheet was drop shipped from the maker and was... not the right sheet at all. Wrong size, wrong color, etc.

I emailed Lowes and they ignored me. They did send me a message in response to another e-mail that might have been directed at the formica sheet; they basically said you can't return special order items. Well, **** you, I didn't get the item so it's not a "return."

I was going to pass by the store anyway, so I took it to get them to order me another one. The girl at the counter called Lowes tech support and they put her on hold for 30 minutes. They said they couldn't do anything, so she hung up and called the manager over. The manager picked up the phone and called tech support. They put her on hold for 30 minutes. Finally she gets through and she chews them out, and they said, hey, guess what, we weren't kidding. We can't do anything. Uh huh.

The funniest part was where the store manager chews out the tech support guy and asks to talk to a manager, and then the tech support asks to talk to the store manager's manager. So that doesn't work anyone.

Because I paid with a gift card I can't just call the credit card company and reverse the charges.

I can't get a refund from Lowes because they don't "do" refunds if you pay with a gift card. You either get nontransferrable in-store credit or you get nothing.

And apparently it takes 1.5 hours for someone to finally decide to just buy me another one on the store's dime and fix it later. Gimme a ****ing break.

Just a heads up about how those discounted gift cards and/or Lowes special orders work, and why Lowes keeps those coupons arond -- if Lowes wasn't significantly cheaper than Home Depot I sure as hell wouldn't shop there.

I got blocked so first thing i tried was a VPN but it was blocked also. I believe I even tried TOR with no luck. The block was removed after a day or so, but if you dont want to be blocked, i would limit the amount you use this.

Where did the Lowe's deal thread go? This one is hijacked. :shocking:

not missing much anyway....I place a online order and guaranteed phone call back later saying order is canceled because they don;t have it....its point where I just ignore Lowes deals most of time.... I think what happens is the employees or managers take the orders for themselves and make cancellation phone calls....

Its almost better to just go to store and get them....

Still waiting on these bad boys to drop more in price near me...

https://www.lowes.com/pd/IRWIN-Vise-Grip-8-in-Long-Nose-Pliers/50401958

Currently $15.99 and 114 in stock... I have no idea why two stores had so many and every other store had none or just a few...

If you have Prime, keep an eye on Amazon. Just by pure luck, I ordered one for $9.99 the other day! When I went back to let you guys know, the price had gone up again...sorry

I had been wanting one, but I didn't want to pay $16-$20 for one.

Yep, German made. Super nice, and got me into buying some NWS pliers (I have a feeling NWS makes the Irwins actually). There was a ton of posts on these a ways back. A few stores near me still have them, but the price actually went up. $11.99 back to $17.99 :headscrat. If I didn't know the full price history, I'd still pick a pair up for anything under $20, maybe $25.

Been reading Irwin/NWS and Lowes will no longer be selling the German pliers anymore.

Once they block you your name address cc etc is dead,
they block for life, same thing happened to me one rep let it slip it is a
lifetime ban. Its crazy they dont want to sell the items they have makes
no sense at all. They are just stupid about the whole situation.

The right angle ones wont come up online anymore... at least not for me. There is a semi-local Lowes that has 4 cutters and 2 right angled for under $5 a piece but its in the ghetto and I dont really need them that bad...
