So, speaking of Lowe's deals. I bought a sheet of formica the other day using a gift card I bought online.
The sheet was drop shipped from the maker and was... not the right sheet at all. Wrong size, wrong color, etc.
I emailed Lowes and they ignored me. They did send me a message in response to another e-mail that might have been directed at the formica sheet; they basically said you can't return special order items. Well, **** you, I didn't get the item so it's not a "return."
I was going to pass by the store anyway, so I took it to get them to order me another one. The girl at the counter called Lowes tech support and they put her on hold for 30 minutes. They said they couldn't do anything, so she hung up and called the manager over. The manager picked up the phone and called tech support. They put her on hold for 30 minutes. Finally she gets through and she chews them out, and they said, hey, guess what, we weren't kidding. We can't do anything. Uh huh.
The funniest part was where the store manager chews out the tech support guy and asks to talk to a manager, and then the tech support asks to talk to the store manager's manager. So that doesn't work anyone.
Because I paid with a gift card I can't just call the credit card company and reverse the charges.
I can't get a refund from Lowes because they don't "do" refunds if you pay with a gift card. You either get nontransferrable in-store credit or you get nothing.
And apparently it takes 1.5 hours for someone to finally decide to just buy me another one on the store's dime and fix it later. Gimme a ****ing break.
Just a heads up about how those discounted gift cards and/or Lowes special orders work, and why Lowes keeps those coupons arond -- if Lowes wasn't significantly cheaper than Home Depot I sure as hell wouldn't shop there.
