Anyone have updated pics? new arrivals, install?

I am still working on prepping my building. few touch ups with the mud work still to do before final paint, but I did get the whole thing in primer yesterday.

Mines with RL carriers with the last update that was leaving California.

Got 1/2 my cabinets today...other half tomorrow. Partly my fault, apparently my home depot account has my old house number and not my current cell phone. Not sure I would have picked white but for 1/2 the price...its a winner

I was hoping to have an update by now in regards to having the cabinets installed. Unfortunately my help has been pushing me off for a couple days. Hoping maybe tonight I'll have some help, fingers crossed

I did take a quick video a few weeks ago of when I got everything unpacked.

Finished all the little things I could do on my own. Repositioned my compressor and got it wired up again, trimmed out the ceiling and framed out and trimmed the windows and doors. So I brought everything over and put them in position. Going to try to get them on the wall today

For those that have received their cabinets, can you guys post a picture showing the texture of the gray doors? i just want to verify if the doors are a matte finish or more of a satin/semi gloss finish

Doors are glossy... Not a high gloss like automotive paint, but a gloss powder coating.

Watch the quick video I posted you can get an idea of how glossy.

Here's another picture. You can see the reflections of my pallet jack and compressor in the finish15e28022f0b03e6d1d7c52f1e0c6ee0a.jpg

What is so special about these cabinets? They look very nice, but even at $2239 they seem expensive.

Forgive my ignorance here.

18 gauge steel. Soft close, heavy duty ball bearing drawers, 24" depth.

Go price out any other cabinets... Husky, saber, menards master force.. these are a steal at this price. At another 1000-1200 they are priced fairly

I guess those features aren't really worth the price for me in a storage cabinet :dunno:

I mean that's the same reason you don't see companies making cabinets out of 1/2 inch steel plate either. There is no market for it. most people aren't storing massive amounts of weight in a garage cabinet.

Its not like I'm storing 5000 pounds worth of gear per cabinet... Not like that's even possible when they are wall mounted anyway.

My heavy item tools go in my toolboxes ( which I can see needing me extra storage capacity and 18 gauge metal for as well as the soft close and strong drawers), but I'm just not seeing it in the cabinets.

Hopefully everyone gets their orders

For some, these are more than just storage cabinets. They can house tools and such. These aren't overkill by any means. If you are shopping cabinets, I personally don't see anything that compares value wise.

I look at what people pay for tool boxes... Maybe 4-5000k

To each their own, but 2200 for 21' worth of cabinets, countertop, hardware and shipping is a bargain imho

Out of fasteners. Using spax, rather than the lags

If I'm being on honest, the bench height is a bit tall for me, maybe 3" too much. I have it up 8.25" off the floor. I have 8" block, so that's how it has to be30f8b78f256b69f37a972c71f0954756.jpg

Looking good! Is there any gap between the two countertop pieces once installed?

I don't know yet. I actually have a few more lowers coming next week. What you see there installed will have 5 lowers when I'm done. I have an 84" piece on its way as well. I won't know for a few days.

What I see at this point is that it sits pretty darn flush with the edge of the cabinets. If there is a gap, it will be very small

I meant to qualify my question with something along the lines of "after you get the countertops installed..."

So yes, I'd be interested in seeing how closely they fit once it's all together.

I wish there was someplace with them on display so I could see these in person.

Gotcha. I should have a good idea tonight when I get another one up. I can set them in place and get an idea how the seam looks

Finalized my spot for my last big cabinet and mounted it up last night.

Also, having them off the floor gives me a lot of room under them for things like saw horses, ladder... Maybe my level. A good trade off for the work top height being a tad bit too tall.

I have 4 more lowers coming. I know some are coming tomorrow, just not sure how many. I'd like to get all this install done, so I can get to working on my car.

Nice install! I have been looking at these cabinets and others for a while now and from what I can see is they are a great bang for the buck. I have been unhappy with my current setup for a long time(toolbox, one steel cabinet, workbench and random **** everywhere) and simply out of space. When we got the house the garage had a whole wall of decent wooden cabinets that are great for hiding all the normal household stuff that ends up in the garage like christmas decorations, kids toys and storage, etc. As we all know these **** to hold any type of weight or tools of any kind. great for longer term storage but you can not work out of them. I need something I can store tools, car parts, paints, chemicals etc so I have stumbled across the newage line. Everyone seems to be happy with the 18ga proline series and I wish I could see them in person before dropping 2k on a set but that might not be possible.

Anyway my question for those with this setup. I have a snapon tool box that is flat out of space which I was thinking of upgrading until I remember how much the stupid things are(and I own two!) I have two options, built a cabinet set around the box which on paper should work ok. Box is 24" deep and 54.5" wide. So this could fit in place of two base cabinets. The height is a little taller then the base cabinets at 39.5 which casters but I could raise the workbench top or remove the casters to make up for it?

My other option is to sell the box(never thought I would sell a snapon box for something like this!) and get a set with more drawer storage for tools but I could have an issue with longer and taller items with the drawer configuration. My question is do you think the drawer configuration of the tool cabinets is sufficient for mechanical type tools along with being quality enough to be opened and closed frequently? Why dont I keep the box and get a cabinet set as well? Quick answer is I only have about 13-14ft of wall to work with so I either need to build around my tool box or replace it.

I do apologize if this is the wrong thread for this but I figured I would add to this discussion rather then a new thread. Thanks for any input!

If you are used to a snappy box, not sure this will live up to being a proper replacement.

As far as the drawers they are proper deep, but not sure they will accommodate things like longer breaker bars or pry bars.

Really only you can determine your needs and then the best way to meet those needs.

Well, I measured wrong. I'm 6" short of what I thought I had. I think I'm going to make a spot for a stool by pulling one of the short cabinets out altogether and cutting the countertop to make it fit, guess that makes it a good thing that I got a wood counter top instead of the metal.

These are nice cabinets and all. But they'll never be able to replace a tool box. There isn't even remotely enough flat area to accommodate a decent lay out. They're great for cased items but nothing super wide. I'd suggest framing your box with a set up and getting some uppers.

The more I think about it I am coming to this conclusion as well. Being used to an actual toolbox I’m going to find a hard time organizing into just the drawer cabinets. Having pry bars, long ratchets and breaker bars they will never fit in the drawers. Measuring the snap on box without casters gets me really close to these base cabinets and I can simply build a frame/stand for the toolbox and built a cabinet set around my box. With the exception of it being blue and not matching it should(on paper) fit together size wise pretty good.

I'm done hanging my Cabinets. Plan on doing a little custom top for the last corner that's open. I need to clean up, but here's the end result41eaaa3c7b182eab6b4a9f66344e7ebf.jpg833637241c14d16fff22dad6bfb6ba14.jpgd2bfd8e8106bbdacd9124584268c917d.jpg

Looks nice Zivman!

Storing things under the cabinets might save you some room, but being able to run a shop
broom under the cabinets is SO nice for cleaning up. But thats coming from a wood/metal shop standpoint, you will figure out what works best for your situation.

Congrats on the new setup.

definitely nice for cleanup. also, i live in mn, and as you can see, everything ends up a sloppy mess. I can't tell you how many times ive washed, and squeegee'd that floor over the last week and it's still a mess.

I picked up my last piece for my corner counter top. need to borrow a buddy's track saw to cut out what I need out of it. just too big of a piece for me to run through my table saw

I've got half installed. Had to cut down the countertop and mount the vise. The others should be easier, they're just going to sit on the floor except for the top cabinets.

I've got half installed. Had to cut down the countertop and mount the vise. The others should be easier, they're just going to sit on the floor except for the top cabinets.

These cabinets look great. We're moving into a new house in a couple of weeks and I think I'm going with these. One question for you guys who have them... I will have a utility sink in my garage and was thinking about using a base cabinet as a sink base. Based on what you see with these, would this be an ok modification do. I'm my mind I think it would look great to have the sink base match the rest of the cabinets.

You definitely could mod them for a sink.
