Anyone warranty a drill? My older 3/8 drill started smoking today. Never had one do that before, got it 8yrs ago so it's done pretty well.

I have the C3 nailer and I love it. Sure a pneumatic is cheaper and lighter, but for the occupational work where you don't want to have to drag air hoses, let the compressor build up air, etc, etc... You can slap in a battery, choose you nails, and go...

It has two adjustments for depth, typically I have no issues with it driving flush unless I happen to hit a big knot in the wood, then usually a couple hammer taps will get them down. Never had mine jam either. Only downside can be the bulk. I've had a couple times where I couldn't get a good angle, but I made do. I don't find the weight an issue. It drives nails pretty darn quick, probably 1 per second.

But for the portability options. I've had projects in my backyard where having that little nailer made life so much easier. If I had a pneumatic it wouldn't have worked because I don't have enough air hose to go from my garage, around the house, and to the back... Also I've taken it to a friend's house a couple times for projects...

What size of brad can you drive at 1/second?
My wife has gotten into Pinterest projects since I gave her some C3 tools and is now wanting me to find her a brad nailer.
She is using pallet parts to make signs and picture frames etc.
I use 1-1/4 nails to hold the stuff together now so she would need to at least shoot that length nail.
C3 fans what say you?

Haven't used mine much. I can say in the cold garage it doesn't like to hit them in flush. When I tested inside it was working better. Also make sure to use xcp batteries in this beast. The staple gun is a bit easier to hold and also does brads but only 1".

Mine has developed a weird problem. In between every brad, I have to open and close the magazine, otherwise no brad is fired. A total pain. The depth is also a little inconsistent. I use mine for quick stuff that doesn't matter much. If I'm doing anything with trim on something that matters, I fire up the compressor and use a real brad gun. I have to say that out of all the C3 tools I have, I had both the greatest expectation and the greatest disappointment with the brad nailer.

I have the brad nailer and love it. I've probably only shot a couple hundred nails through it but it's been perfect.

It will do up to 2" IIRC....

I've only had a few that did not go in 100%, but it has two different adjustments on it for depth that has always resolved the issue.

Only downside is the bulk, I ran into a few issues with tight spaces, but those were rare cases (for me). Having it battery powered makes it so much more flexible in the location you can use it, not being tethered to an air compressor, or even a power cord.

I just use my regular little Li-Ion batteries, never had the need to use the bigger one, doesn't seem to consume that much power.

C3fans, thanks for all the info regarding the brad nailer.

I looked around a bit today and they are a bit too pricey, so unless one drops out of space for a great price she is going to have to use the pneumatic nailer

Maybe take advantage of the $50 back on 50 deals at Sears and Kmart? That gets you $100 (plus any freecash you might have) towards a nailer.

For those who have the shop vac, is there a non-Sears replacement filter? Perhaps a generic off Amazon?

Also, for those with the multitool, any recommendation for replacement blades? I picked up a blade at HD and it didn't have the right pattern and wouldn't fit.

Thanks.

It's $50 in points on a $75 purchase, but it's only for certain hand tools and it doesn't look like the nailer qualifies... But I'm sure there are other freecash / coupon deals one could use to get like $10-$20 off the purchase price.

I think the Craftsman shop vacs are literally shop vac brand re-brands with slightly different hose connections. Lowes stocks shop vac stuff, as does WalMart.

What fitting is on the multitool? Far as I know, there are only a couple of different setups.

I've looked multiple places and I can't find anything else that fits other than actual Craftsman blades. Grrr...

I was at my hometown store today, I noticed he had a couple blades for the multi-tool hanging with the other misc parts... If you really need them let me know (PM preferred) and I can grab them for you and ship them to you...

Anyhow, I was wandering around picking up a hose I got... Saw this little gem in the back corner... Has been sitting there since 2013, brand new in the box! :)

I had to buy it! It was on sale too...

Sweet!

I need me one of those but figure I'll have to pony up for the Milwaukee M18 wet/dry vac since the C3 is unobtanium.

So I've been waiting patiently for my replacement planer blade hold down screws. Got the email on Monday that they shipped and today the box arrived. Ordered 2 screws for $4 and got 2 complete blade assemblies which they sell for $38 ea.

Okay, I managed to kill my 1/2 Drill 5275.1 (it had an accident, not from abuse)...

Not sure which route to replace it... I don't really need any more batteries, I have too many as-is...

EDIT - After looking at the manuals it's now clear Sears has a misprint somewhere. The DD2101 in the manual says 465 ft/lb, and the 35704 bundle is a DD2100 drill. I think the only difference in the two is the handle, not the additonal 100 ft/lb of torque as per the website.

I can get a bare 5271.1 Rated @ 300 in/lb off ebay for about $30 shipped...

I can get a bare 315.DD2101 Heavy Duty w/Handle Rated @ 565 in/lb off ebay for $50 shipped...

Or I can get a 35704 Heavy Duty (no handle) w/XCP Battery & Charger Rated @ 465 in/lb from Sears for $99 - $24 in points = $75 OOP, but get $23 back in points... My local Hometown store has this in stock too I can go pick up.

I know I just missed the $50 back in points off $75 deal but my drill just died today.

What's the story on the difference between the 315.DD2101 & 35704? Besides the torque differences and extra handle... Any negative on the DD2101? I'm guessing it was just an older model that got phased out with a lesser model to save money (i.e. current 35704)???

There is also the brushless one on eBay but more than I care to spend.

Anyone live near Springhill, LA?

I would do this. Get the kit at sears and sell the xcp and charger for $75 on ebay. You get a free drill and points to boot (or get points from the clothing deal and get a free coat and drill).

Not a bad deal at all.

Think I could get that much for the battery & charger? I'll have to check ebay on that...

I looked at the SearsHomeTown store webstite... The bare drill there lists for $29.88 compares to sears.com that lists for $59.99 ... So I can use my points (but no freecash bonus) to bring it down to like ~$13 and I have a friend that travels in that area that can pick it up. But then the problem is I won't be able to go use it till I go down there to get it (and it's a 5 hr trip each way so I don't visit often)...

35704 / DD2100 kit is the same drill as DD2101. I have no idea why they started confusing things with the DD numbers in later years. The 565 in/lb is a typo. The correct number is 465in/lb, although in some advertising, Craftsman listed it as 515 in/lb if used with an XCP battery.

Yeah I've pretty much come to the conclusion that the DD2100 & DD2101 are the same drill just the extra handle (and battery combo) is the difference. I can't believe Sears never fixed the spec on their website, that could be a lawsuit right there... Though that would be like trying to milk a dry cow...

I have ~$20 in points right now so I think I'm going to order the bare drill for minimal OOP and not have to deal with reselling stuff and just let my friend pick it up. I'll eventually get it, I have my other C3 drill so it's not like I'm completely without.

FYI, anything you see priced at .88 at a hometown store (and probably Sears too) is a clearance price.

So I stopped by my hometown store just to see what he had in stock and prices... Funny thing, the heavy duty drill he has is the same model number as online, but it shows having the handle but the one online doesn't (as you can see in the pic a few posts up)... Shipping date on the box was Nov 2017 (but who knows how long it was sitting in a warehouse)...

Nothing on sale / clearance so looks like I'm going to order that bare drill.

Does anyone know if Craftsman made a C3 paint sprayer?

By far the most rare of all C3 tools. Maybe a couple a year pop up on ebay.

Yes, And good luck finding one for less than $300 on ebay

I've seen sellers ask that much, but personally never seen them get it. I remember one clown wanted like $500 or something a couple years ago. The last one on ebay didn't get bid up over $150. That was back in November.

Just saw an ad for an inflator, impact driver, one handed reciprocating saw, blower/vac, drill, one full sized lithium and charger for $50. If true this will beat out my planer deal by quite a bit. Should know in a couple hours.

Update: yes it was true and he also threw in an 8 pc craftsman deep socket set which used to sell for $54. They are a little beat up but still a great deal overall.

Wow, the saw already sold less then 5 min on ebay. Guess I priced it too low.

Yeah, that's an insane deal. One-handed saws generally go for close to $200. My dad just sold a new one he had for $240 just last week. They are really good saws. They have just as much power as the larger ones. It'd be interesting to pit one in a battle against a Milwaukee Hackzall.
