Amazing Job! #retirementgoals

Just 30 more years of work and I will have the time to do these sorts of things :D
Well I've got at least 10-15 years to go myself before retirement.:dunno::lol:
2-3 hours a night every night after work and all weekend long gets a lot done!

Been plugging away at the railings and I built a set of steps!
Only 39 more spindles to go and that huge upper level part of the work will be 95% done! Whew!

So glad I went with black spindles instead of the 2x2 wood ones and the cedartone wood. Lot of money but worth the look![emoji16]72f2c38dce0e929af73144bb051d53ac.jpgbe3a5d4e0c4eb170c2918eabd0b6e420.jpga066058743667d9b0dffa160da7a7f97.jpg47cf1020c6e63c7992083cb905594854.jpg7822a3f41905a784f81031857220f9f0.jpgae3cd8835335a1044668729bb29ebfe2.jpg

This place looks incredible. I have to make sure my wife doesn't see this or she'll be looking for one of her own. Look forward to seeing more progress!

My wife doesn't think so...! :willy_nil
WOW. That upstairs area looks great. What plans do you have for that ?
Our daughters wedding is June 2 - in the barn. After that, we'll most likely apply for a Special Use Permit and start renting it out for a variety of parties, events, etc.:dunno::thumbup:
Wow. That place is looking awesome! I'm jealous haha
Thanks for stopping by!
Awesome job! The stairs and upstairs really look great!
Wow! Nice job! looking good
Thanks!

Thanks guys for checking in and the comments.
Picking up the rest of the spindles tonite and finishing that up this week. Spent the weekend cleaning up unneeded stuff and preparing for the main floor work to commence.
I hope to be 95% done with the inside work by April 1 :dunno: as I have a lot of work to do outside yet in April and May. Wish me luck!:willy_nil

Great thread, and great work! Must be nice to have the wife also participating, it's not just you going to the barn on your own. Because with the progress you have made, and a job, I don't see that you stay at home just passing time without doing anything special ;)

This is an awesome thread ! Really enjoy the updates. Keep up the great progress.
Thanks for the kind words!
Looks great Laine, just looking at your pictures makes my wallet hurt!
:lol_hitti We live week to week like most other folks, so ya - same here!
Actually cheaper than renting a hall locally though and the money stays on our own property for improvements. Win, Win!:D

Thanks. I work on it every night after work from about 5 -8 and any spare minute on the weekends. She's a lot of help doing the little things that take time - freeing me up to spend that time doing more of the major things.
She's got 4 of the 9 chandeliers cleaned and ready to hang. And she'll also be doing most of the painting inside the barn in the few areas that need it when we get that far.:D
We'll take a much needed break once the wedding is over!
Here's a pic showing those chandeliers while they were "in storage". lol
The Barnyard by
Another 'Party' garage on the forum.
For sure! :rocker:

It's been warm here the last few days melting the 16" of snow that fell 2 weeks ago. Not that big of an issue except for the fact that the barn floor leaks when it pours. I've fixed some of them that I can see but other places it comes up right in the middle of the floor where it's broke through a weak part of the concrete.
Add to that the giant 2 foot diameter hole in the roof due to the cupola that flew off last Spring and it's not pretty. The cupola was tarped off but they used a cheap 3 dollar blue tarp that was trash in 2 months so the rain now comes right through it.:mad::(
I'l get a pic when I get home tonite and show ya the mess.

Here's the after pic of one of those walls I posted last week that said I would improve upon.

And this is the backside of the same wall. I didn't have the heart to cover that gorgeous brown look so I just turned it into shelves.:dunno:

And the wall immediately beside that one I started covering in the same wood. I also took the man door out off this wall and put the window in.

Started to put some steel roofing up on the walls where it needed it.

Wow, your wife did an amazing job on that wall, that looks really cool!

We have a couple of those wheeled magnets at work, they get used a couple times a month on our back lot. A total life saver.

...is there storage area inside that enclosure under the stairs?...if not, that would be a good place to "hide" some stuff.

No. I thought about it but I've never been a big fan of under stair storage and hate getting down that low anymore to find ****. I'd just as soon close it off and forget about it.

Good to see you stop by Rusty1. I bought that blue 51 truck off you years ago. I shoulda kept it..lol:headscrat

...Yes, I remember you buying that Chevy p.u.,...been following your thread here from the beginning,...really enjoyable thread. I really like the fact you're saving those old barns, too many are going away....hope to see you around this Spring.

Cool. When the barn is done and I get my gas pumps out on display this Summer, you can bring the whole club by for a meeting, photo op, whatever!

Love it when a plan comes together!

Sadly I had to cut the sawmill apart as it's dimensions wouldn't fit under the slab but I'm still happy with the results so far.0a630d95098a1b8004cca9c0309aa5ef.jpg0d020b888fc7bf239fe284311fe0ea6e.jpgb396fad24b08f170a933bb021acb93be.jpg3786dc214f9c572c9af6a203389d3be2.jpg
