Could not find the "what did you do on your garage" thread, so I'll post here. Hired a local guy to clean snow off the roofs, I don't do ladders. Dude does this as a sideline to finance his daughter's education. Seemed like a noble cause.

Now, have a look....doesn't it look like Santa ended up on my roof?

I finished cleaning and undercoating the wheel wells on my 1990 MX5 Roadster. Then I did a quick detail on the rest of the car.

Got my shelves put together. Since the insulation and drywall is not done yet, I wanted to be able to move them away from the wall, so I got some heavy duty casters and mounted them. It will be nice to move them out for cleaning also.

Nice shelves,
I have one Galdiator and one Whalen from Costco, if you have the room you can take one or two shelve off and separate both racks and you'll have three for the price of two.
I did that and put bigger stuff on the floor like a spare V-8 engine, Transmission and my Generator..I did double up with 2x4 on the bottom to raise it a little..

Literally night and day. My ceilings are 12' 4" between the beams and 10' 6" to the bottom of the beams.

I had a lighting rep layout and spec the lights and I couldn't be happier.

My fixtures are Lithonia but I don't recall the part number. If youre interested in the same fixtures, let me know and I can look it up and send it to you. I think they were about $100 each.

That price is a bit out of my range for that exact model. Do you know the output of those lights? I purchase a 4800 lumens bright white 48" for my basement work bench and loved it. Of course menards sold out of them rather fast at $15 and when they were restocked they were $30. Ive been looking on Amazon and plan to install 6 to 8 this spring.

Don't want to lose my 'man card', but my girlfriend kept bugging me that she wanted to build a scratching post/cat perch for her 2 cats. I decided to spend the day with her making some good old fashioned tacky cat furniture. Whatever makes her happy. I have a bunch of extra old plywood that we used & slapped some stain on it. Hot glue gun'd some sisal rope on a square post. Put a solar deck light on the top. Did a stencil to give it some flair.
Cats seem to like it.

Changing plugs in a 2004 Impala LS with the 3.8 V6.

Back bank was crazy to get too, so I did the google search and found this.

So obvious ...

Costco generally has good prices on 4 ft LED shop lights.

Re: What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Quick chain spritz on the daily driver, and made myself a new chain spritz box.

This thing, threaded up between the chain and the rear wheel in front of the rear sprocket plus one of those corrugate squares (placed under the rear sprocket) catches 99.9% of all drips and blocks overspray getting on the wheel/tire.

I found the part number.

I believe they're 5000 lumen

Finished the wiring inside the stud walls and the insulation.
Then drank a couple beers, watched the 500 and cleaned up enough to get both vehicles back inside in time to grill some steaks. All in all, a good day.

Hired a company last summer to do gates for our new house. We reached out to a couple companies and they were the only one to come give us a quote so we went with him. Turns out he has no business building gates! Only one gate had a latch, the double gate for the driveway had no provisions at all for any type of latch. I took care of the double gates in the fall, still need to level them so they close properly and look right.

So for what I did in my garage today, I rebuilt the only gate he had a latch on after our nasty windstorm last night. Who knew a single tech screw wasn't going to be good enough?

Where we started...
G3mhaA_f75yBRgTvqeVRmFV5qAuBerGViBG4U7Bdu4AlUi7ZO3r1isWYNbztCW97gEaXmL1Kk7RknzEUw6EbqH-M30y3gAkfNteOP8C3F0QlvJZ8KeEU5T5SmPQMJUgMVFAKDNQeMDnUWuob7ruou_ba1guQwrETEdcZf3TMp5nCD5yFBq6WcTRASpi-IouF7IzFIJ5_3QYc4ja4dJtf6QKtBo90CBCQ2EpGiaoIzNPVozTp8H_wbjcLsv-QNBEdX9FkJSQ1gBrCz85NVlyB3lvJcAiXXHN9wmC3ngHeyFBkpxrHduc7rg-_xouvi5FOzzWjii2X6EX_4TEANi_jVevfi8VgUb9YHaeBtx8DvqkaAkgkVAtHBzFwSz6qDYkmG8ldPnjf0ar_jLycHJCOs-U8YgcnrYuh3wfZD_EDHm7QE6ZoYY_3I5rwu8v8HWTIzUyJIZOairSFPqVef3JFQyu8lJKNf-X4NKjaHjY1Vl0u7UYKIHE9ugcWUX5W0XKX16zYAe8obd3ocK316yEQTbZOxVkRtWwj0M4sl0mYmMliyVDlWh9zQUuQTj-s4n-ZQCj3o4CIkFA5vWC_8xTuo53HmaL-LTe9UBEZZ4g=w355-h631-no

The twisted stripped mess of a latch...
Wy9MOhCi0GjVRiuETWB9UwJ72rn4LBPqvTRNi2CuM53iZHz7UcwAk5mukVIuWLcGvDd1dBivdpR_h1vqQVi9i1odCa-bRbkzDIxgnDU2arpOV2JZSsgsAXi0qpIp2BC2tZ3aRtHpYLcPzh_nla8TpJWhNXeLl1bIj71nYyQ44E_AoVo5BrDX-HE1NtX7N4o4Dern-uR843xefsQ2hs9limjU4BWOU-ipFxB3L7jUn89m1Gyk9CEH0fOFFoiaNsETIYoBMKOEEmwWnvmqGPHnGx8Q4scb-uBuEMblZEPqAv5Io2DjMuKcfP7vuMRnF8YPwaqD-6UUZL1BFGibKlLrU4MUK_a5oqjRnb-SUJN9oPrEF_GJ28joCQvXAkhcitb9CBLSq74OQhWBnTlFJmsQMfEO9ODH-bZwFFtvnM-XKdvwmwZcN33Ee7Pqi6pCHrBa3ntF_Wn-BrY3N_1osvZyl1DzVIiKXEEj9kZzN6UWAg8jCH25160MRycuz1sM-kAZIr20T7Y89BIoVtLwIeVwOyGKKUYWTQjOwqSdZ3Q-UFlxvZh7XR82q6HRYEsxMkJAYtwX20Psd_MIf0DeR-vqnQoXKaWm4clFZ33FBqk=w760-h631-no

Now it's centered in the opening with grease-able barrel hinges, stops to keep it from opening with the wind and a proper latch. Wish I took a before picture, it was offset to one side with a massive gap on the other. The guy was a horrible fabricator. I should have done them myself but didn't have the time and wasn't wired for my welder yet.

For giggles, here are the front gates, I have already reworked the walk through and will get the doubles cleaned up this spring. Like what he left for holding the gates? Cotton rope, I put the leftover bucket of stucco there. The gate on the right is nearly half an inch taller in the center of the panel than it is where it meets the other side. I would have called him out on it but if he was comfortable walking away and calling this done the fix would be no better.

He made the gate too narrow, when I installed the latch the bolt just grazed the bar it was supposed to latch in. As an added bonus, the hole it was supposed to engage wasn't in line with the latch.

Paint, carpet and new softener.
Painted the floor with Rustoleum Rocksolid, painted the walls and put new carpet and water softener in. Now the cars have a nice place to sleep.
Did the floor last weekend and let it dry for 3 days. It says you can drive
on it after 24 hours but wanted to wait longer.

Emptied out the Turbo Van, signed off the title and watched it drive away. Happy trails, ol' buddy. I'm gonna miss you.

I hate selling "special" cars, I get too attached to them. But it was time. We didn't drive it much anymore, and we need the space.

Is it something you can double nut?

The nuts don't loosen up, the slots on the skids are for bigger carriage bolts than Snapper uses, so there isn't a lot of surface for the serrated flange nuts to grab and the skids slide up on the hopper. I used my new Milwaukee M18 Fuel impact gun on them this time instead of just tightening them by hand with a 1/2" combo wrench. If they move again, I'm going to get longer bolts and put serrated belleville washers or contact spring washers on both sides of the skids.

Made a wooden plug from a paint stick to fill a stripped hole in a cabinet so the factory tech could replace a screw that the installer messed up.

Just another job done with paint sticks and "Bubble Gum"

I did a quick paint correction on my Wrangler. It’s an 07 with 140k that I recently purchased and it looks like they washed it with a wire brush. Because it’s more of a toy and DD I wasn’t super concerned about getting every imperfection out..

What I found was these jeeps have liits of tight areas that my Cyclo polisher was not great at getting to.

Also used bedliner in a spray can to touch up the fenderwells IMG_2355.JPGIMG_2354.JPGIMG_2352.JPG

Just finished up fabricating a 12 ton finger brake press.

PRYdOc.jpg

Nice, I have a 19" press brake that I build, at times I wish I had "fingers" for some things, I make brackets for my Jeep, log splitter etc etc. A very handy tool to have in the shop. I have a 20 ton air over hydraulic jack on mine, I have bent 3/8" x 6" steel on occasion :shocking:

Got a little zap from the battery charger earlier so I tore into it today. Found a bare wire going in, fixed the cord, blew it all out and oiled the fan since its been making some noise.

Got internet into my building today. Mounted two Ubiquiti Nanostation M5 antennas to bridge the signal 250 feet from the house to the building then installed a switch and access point inside.

Removed the starter and filled the oil on an old 350 SBC that's been sitting around. Was going to compression test it, but I didn't get around to it.

Oh, reorganized my tool cart to get the rest of my sockets from my main box to fit in there.

I bought the DIY finger brake from SWAG. They have larger ones for 20 ton and above.

Renewed my faith in Ariens. Bought a used 2011 Ariens compact 24 snowblower a few years ago and lets just say i felt it was no better then the low end garbage they sell at big box stores. Leaks oil, cheap China bearings that are exposed to the elements and froze up. Wheels bonded themselves to the axles, and it got tossed around by heavy snow pretty easily.

Well a few months ago a friend of ours passed away and I purchased his Ariens platinum 24. I knew he took care of it because like clockwork every time i pulled mine out to get it ready for the season, or put it away for the season, he would pull his out and followed my procedure to a T. I remember being a little miffed when he bought it because even though I got a great deal on a used one from CL, he 1up'd me and got the platinum!! He would rib me every once in a while on heavy His mother and I chatted for a while when I went to pick it up, and she said he would be happy knowing I was the new owner.

Long story short I was baselining the platinum 24 in the garage yesterday and comparing it to my compact 24, and i will admit that there is a huge difference between the two. In this case, you get what you pay for.

Finally got around to my modding my Harbor Freight Welding Table. Followed Tim the Toolman's mod directions on youtube -
Basically cut the table in half and add 1" square tube extensions. Extensions are drilled to allow different heights. Just undo the wing nuts and raise or lower. Table height in the pic is middle setting at 39". Will raise to max height of 45". Looking forward to no more back ache after welding.

I made this outdoor table to be put near the fire pit with some scrap wood I had. I am no woodworker but enjoy doing woodworking projects that aren't so precise. I bought a planter for $4.00 that I incorporated into the table as a small ice area for the beers.

Looks great to me!

On my end, I unpacked some moving boxes still in the garage in preparation for the garage remodel (detached 2-car 18' x 20'). The garage remodel project has officially commenced! :bounce:
