If you’re on the fence about Tekton, this pretty much sums up why I continue to buy their stuff.
Agree!
with a big nod to Astro as well for also offering one up! (post 13)

I'd love to know from anyone here who is an engineer etc WHY are there so many different size fasteners? Is it purely so tool makers can profit?
Seems to me we could easily get by with say 8, 10, 13, 15, 17, 19 mm and a few of the big sizes, at least for automotive needs. Really how much difference can there be between 18 and 19 mm or 5 or 6 mm for small stuff? Also what genius ever came up with Torx? Just so rubes could shove an Allen key in there and round it off? How is Torx any different from an Allen head anyway? Sorry for the rant but you have to admit that IMO automotive and fastener engineering is just a scam to sell tools and force those with "basic" tools into the stealership to have their car serviced.
Sunex does have it- but OUCH! at $9.00 for one socket! A few bucks more and I could just get a whole 'nother complete Tekton set ! https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0076HI9KS/?tag=atomicindus08-20
I hardly ever lose tools, wish I could find that 8mm. It vanished last month doing the dreaded ****** drop/torque converter replacement on my 2003 Ford Taurus. The labor savings from doing that job myself vs. a shop has pretty much paid for all the tools I've bought in the past half decade.![]()

Class act

Definitely to both Tekton & Astro.
I know where I’ll be looking first when I need something.

I'm lucky. Family Farm and Home 3 miles away stocks most of the Tekton line. Good stuff. Kudos to Tekton and Astro for going the extra mile.

When I first saw this thread I thought they did sell them individually. Then I clicked the link to see they were impact sockets. The local Family Farm and Home store has some Tekton stuff but maybe I need to look a little more closer the next time in there to see what they do and how they sell it.
I have CrV impacts from horror freight, I'm not knocking Tektons CrV, just pointing out as you did that they are generally considered "better" for the reasons you stated.
Why? Because that guy acted like the HF sockets are trash and the impacts would be a disaster. They are tanks also.
Hey Scott,
Sent you a pm, but wanted to make sure this wasn't missed. Our call ended a little quicker than I was counting on. We don't offer that socket for sale, but for singles like that we can usually send out a socket to complete the set.
We are working to expand our socket program and hope to have 3/8 singles in the next year.
Give me a shout and I'll get you all set.
Dave
