Thank you. That’s one of the things that made this DI system so attractive, the bypass feature. You only want to use the deionized water for the final rinse.

I will post a video to my channel once complete, these are just a few shots from this afternoons work on the cart.

Thanks for stopping by and checking out my projects thread.

All the parts for resin columns are pretty easy to source, that bypass head is a common part. I recommend lubing the o-rings in the valves once in a while with silicone grease, they seem to stick and then the o-ring rolls and jams up. The o-rings on the inlet/outlet ports are the same size as the ones in the valve btw.

As far as resin life, regening a column isn't hard, the worst part is sourcing or building a venturi to draw the acid/caustic in. Then you're just limited to the resin's mechanical life until it gets beaten into dust and plugs your strainers.

Only had about an hour tonight so I bent up a base and welded it onto the cart.
d1473cf76af7b861081d329214525d8a.jpg

Then grabbed a piece of .870” 4130, bent a 30-degree angle on it and coped the end.
dc8f8f8d4a26cdfc40b97049a9774517.jpg

Welded it to the top of the hoop for a handle.

Hopefully I can get a chance to pick up a strap and a bicycle hand grip tomorrow and finish it up.

Thanks for looking.

Thanks for the comments Cam. I try to hold a consistent level of work but I will admit, there are times I fall short and get frustrated. Unfortunately, not everything turns out like they appear in my head, probably no different than anyone else.

It was nice talking to you on Sunday and I hope I was able to help.

How did the wheel repair turn out? I was going to give you a shout today as I was curious but I know you were thrashing to get ready for the show and didn’t want to bother you.

Step 1: draw up plans
Step 2: write a check
Step3: send above items to Mike.

I’ll start on my plans for various projects I need done. LOL.

I like step #2 Shorty. I also like checks that are generous with lots of zeros, I don’t even care what the first number is as long as there’s plenty of zeros that follow. [emoji12]

Better cap those feet Mike!

I think the handle needs that.

I do realize that what I think in internet-land doesn't matter in regard to the decisions you make. In the interest of open and honest communication I'm only attempting to make your OCD twitch. Mean-spirited, I know. Shouldn't do that to a guy post-paint.

It's a damn nice cart Mike. Another job well done. You and @apexish (JD Green from APEX Fab) are inspiring me to get a dang welder cart built (finished) for the Miller 211 at work.

Nice job on the cart Mike. That setup is on my list to get, I hear you on how long it takes to get one of those beasts clean.

Don't feel bad if you think you sometimes don't hit the mark. I know every project I take on starts out ready for space travel but find most turn out barely ready for the sewage plant. :headscrat

And it was my pleasure, thanks again for the advice and the conversation.

But sadly I'll have to let you know tomorrow how it turns out. Sunday's project ran over by a few extra days and I have no choice but to pull off some type of successful repair tomorrow before I head out. :dunno:

A little inter-web "jabbing" is always expected and in most cases appreciated Travis.

I was going to weld a plate on the bottom of the feet but opted against it as it was surely overkill. I haven't had the best luck with any of the plastic of rubber feet as they don't hold up well to dragging around on the concrete, especially brushed concrete like my drive has on it.

The handle actually has a bicycle handle on it now and will post up some final pictures shortly. I would encourage you to get a welder for home, I would bet you would be surprised how much you would use it for even some of the littlest projects.

Thanks again for the comments Travis and I appreciated the call the other night. It was nice talking to you and I wish you the very best my friend.

I think it looks great! I wish I had the capability of building stuff with pipe and welding. I was thinking of buying a omnipro 220 from Harbor Freight since it seems cheaper than a Lincoln and its very versatile and I don't know what I am doing :)

I want to build a fire escape like pipe ladder that would store up high but I can lower - actually two of them - one for my mezzanine and another for my electrical equipment. I keep a ladder next to the equipment which needs to be moved away but I constantly need access to the equipment. The other problem is there is a window there so It would store above the window. Perhaps I will draw it one time :)

I've seen carts or dollies like this that have a rubber foot screwed to the bottom. They seem to do a nice job. I can't remember what had them on it but I will do a google image search and see if it would be helpful....

I'm looking forward to trying it out and seeing just how much I can reduce my washing time and actually I'm hoping to get better results as well.

By the way Dan, love the new avatar.:rocker: I hope your enjoying your new coach my friend and I would love to meet up with you on the road somewhere sometime.

Thanks for the comments.

Like I mentioned earlier, it is amazing how much a welder can be used for even the smallest of projects around the shop, let alone on big projects that I absolutely need a welder for. Many times a project can be completed by other means but I still choose welding as the means of connecting parts because I think it looks cool.:D

Thanks for the following along and the info.

You'll likely receive a number of calls as time goes on :lol_hitti Also I have thought a lot about the welder and other tools- as we discussed the other night. A welder will likely be one of the sooner of the big ticket items I get as it is so useful, I am wrestling with myself on whether to get one like a MM 215 or 210MP or just single function welders. The more I consider it the difference in price between a 211 and 215 is so little that one might as well have the options.
I knew the feet were overkill and also had an inkling you weren't leaving a bare handle. Off to Jamaica for me! This is one of the last things I'm typing before boarding the plane.

If we ever get to your area I will be sure to look you up. Seeing Idaho is on the list for this summer's trips along with the usual dune trips to the coast. Utah and Arizona are next I hope. Moab and the Great Salt Lake are at the top of the list for me but the wife has her list too. LOL

I have to do a major rebuild to my shop so I can fit the new coach in it. Old bay was 36'x15'x12' eaves with a 11' door, that won't cut it. I want it indoors by next winter with any luck.

Dan, if you ever plan on being anywhere close to our area let me know and we will do our best to meet up with you somewhere. I don't need much of an excuse to go to Moab:lol: but I'm open for other places as well.

I hope you and your wife enjoy many miles and many smiles with your new rig, it sure looks like a beauty.

You are correct that there are so many projects that can be made with a welder and some imagination or internet motivation. It's hard to beat the feeling when someone asks "where did you get that?" and you can answer "I made it."

Nice work as always.

Maybe add some metal loops to keep the webing from sliding up or down?

I'm keeping an eye on it but it is pretty snug and doesn't seem to want to move even with some assistance.

IF, and that's a big IF, it does move around down the road a simple fastener will secure it in place. I tried to keep it as clean as possible so I would rather not put anything on it if I don't absolutely need to.

Suggest swapping out the cart's wheels for some big fat gnarly knobby tires. Of course it won't help in any way but it would look cool!

Thanks Justin. Yeah, I don't see that helping much. I guess it could spread the weight out over a larger surface area and protect my new concrete.

The wife doesn't care for my thoughts however. The other one she doesn't particularly care for is "it's easier to beg for forgiveness than ask for permission" when I purchase something.:D

My wife's funny some times. Stresses over spending $20 on something but then didn't bat an eye buying our motorhome. :headscrat

I set up my new towbar this morning. I recently sold my early edition Roadmaster Sterling towbar and replaced it with the new Roadmaster Night Hawk towbar, which has an 8k pound capacity.

Rather than starting the coach and pulling it outside merely to mock it up I pulled my Jeep up behind my Duramax and mocked everything up in the shop.

Jeep pulled behind my truck.
6863161f5d4e5b07d1ea3e7f500e4859.jpg

Upon attempting the first connection the first thing that I noticed was that the end connectors are approx. .025” wider than the ones on my old Sterling so I used the mill to remove that .025” off of one side of each block.
776eef2032afb141e617a51d7825bc9a.jpg

Removed from milling vise and deburred.
b242623a74e7beffbbea71475df1ae38.jpg

This towbar came equipped with a 7-pole plug at the RV side and a 6-pole round at the toad end. I have my Jeep equipped with a 4-pole round electrical connector so I swapped the 6-pole on the toad end with a 4-pole. This towbar has strip LED’s along the arms that illuminate when the running lights are turned on. Seeing as how we travel at night on a few occasions I view this as a safety feature.

Connected, electrical complete and all ready for many miles of flat-towing the Jeep behind our coach.

Mike, another great job. Is that black (looks like nylon/canvas?) wrapped up on the tow bar a rock shield of some kind? I have never flat towed anything so I learning and filing this away in my memory for later use!
