lol...I almost started a thread on what to do with the 5 or 6 old tip snips(like the ones in the top of your picture). I used them to over the years for cutting shingles. Those days are over and I'm downsizing everything. Mine are currently in my metal recycle bucket.

Can you share how you do it?

Sure. All you're doing is bringing the rounded edge back to a right angle; there's all kinds of ways to accomplish that. If the cutting edge is straight, I'll use a flat file. If the cutting edge is curved, I'll use either a half round file, or a round diamond hone.

I can't either, I can't ever remember throwing any snips away when they broke or got dull........just bought new. I can honestly say I never seen anyone in the trade sharpen them.
Come this October I'll have 51 years in sheet metal Local 80 will be retired for 10 years.

I used to put an edge on my snips but when Wiss started putting serrated edges on the blades there was no point. I still touch up my straights and bulldogs. I will start getting my international pension later this year.

Finally gathered all my snips for some pics.

I've been a WISS and Malco fan for years, though metaldad gifted me a set of Lenox snips awhile back. Started using them around the shop for projects - damn those things cut nice!

WISS left, right, straight, and newer double cuts.
Malco left and rights ZIP snips.
Lenox left, right, and double cuts.
Various: small PEXTO, mid WISS, and large Malco aluminum shear.

That is a lot of snips representing a bunch of cutting. Makes my hands hurt thinking about it. Oh and I think I only have 4 or 5 snips.
