I am not sure how it happened, or why, but I got $30 in free cash on Wednesday and spent it on some USA Craftsman pliers and I got $30 in free cash again today which I had the wife use to pick up some clothes. All told, we purchased $74.58 worth of stuff that was on sale and paid a grand total of $14.53. Heck, I paid $2.00+ for the 3 piece pliers. Haha.

Not sure how this helps Sears, but it doesn't seem like a good way to make money.

Sounds like you were one of the lucky recipients of the crazy generous $x off $x offers they occasionally bestow on some accounts for no apparent reason. :) It might as well be random, other than if you have a recent store closure or natural disaster. Good that you used them quickly, as sometimes Sears changes their mind and yanks them back (as happened this week to several people who received $20 off $20 freecash surprise points offers).

The company is constantly losing so much money (something like a billion dollars a year) that they'd be in the red without ever having given away a dime of points... if you're curious, from what I've heard, the premise for funding this kind of stuff is it's an alternate use for the advertising budget that they've been spending less and less of on things like TV and print ads. Hoping you'll tell all your family/friends/coworkers what a great deal you got, and they'll go to Sears too but be less diligent about deal-hunting.

I got a problem with a Sears store.

Does anybody have the info for Office of the President or how to escalate from the online customer services number?

Get up to $100 CASHBACK in points on qualifying items sold by Sears.
Expires on 03/13/2018
Members, get $20 CASHBACK in points when you spend $20-$99.99, $50 CASHBACK in points when you spend $100-$499.99, $100 CASHBACK in points when you spend $500 or more. Excludes Drug & Grocery, Gift Cards, Land’s End, Marketplace, select home appliance items, televisions and items sold by Kmart. Offer not valid with any other offer. Purchase requirement before taxes and after other discounts and must be made in a single transaction.
Points awarded next day and valid for 7 days. Online only.

After being extended to 3/14, the online cashback offer has now been extended again, through 3/17. At this rate they might just keep it going all the way till 3/24 like the in-store offer??

I was wondering if that would happen. At 1am (EST) the home page no longer shows the offer, but I see if something is in my cart, that is shows I get 20 back on 100. I'm wondering if I can order another $20+ and just get it back in points without going through the hassle of contacting someone to argue for them.

I wanted to take advantage of the offer, so I grabbed a pressure washer hose at $22. Hopefully it's decent!

Yes, it looks like it will let you do another 20 off 20 order now--I guess the time extension reset the counter!

Now see if I can find something else I can use for $20.

Yeah, I already got my $20 cashback in points from my order last night (ship-to-store), and the offer is showing again today up to the final checkout page.

Yesterday I picked up the 3pc pry bar set, with a bottle opener filler to get $25 and free shipping, paid like $36 out of pocket with tax and $6.** shipping on the pry bar (wasn't free even with $25 order). Today I picked up the damaged bolt extractor kit for $25.**, used $5.** in points that I earned on the pry bar purchase to keep the order at $20 and am supposed to get another $20 in points. Not sure what I will use the $34.** towards. Maybe a few of the rubber garden hoses.

So what are you guys looking at for about $20? I have a couple hours of items I’m considering but it’s at the point of what I don’t have?

Some of the Craftsman stuff I like around that price point are the sets of locking pliers with cushion-grip handles, and some of the larger hammers.

Question for you folks,

Does the $20/$50 in freecash not show up until you actually "pick up" your order?

Reason I ask is I ordered something today at a store in Texas, but won't be out that way until next week on business, the item is totally out of stock in all of California. If I can't pick it up until the 26th, and Sears isn't doing the promo anymore at that time, am I going to loose out on the points?

I'm not double/triple dipping like was mentioned here, this would be my first $20 point reward.

Yes, I'm pretty sure orders for in-store pickup need to be picked up to get the points. And I'm pretty sure that you should receive the offer that was in effect at the time you placed the order, not based on what's in effect at the time you pick it up (otherwise, even people with much shorter turnaround times on their pick-ups would have been complaining about that situation more often - e.g. ordering on the last day of an offer and picking up the next day is common). If it doesn't work, you have a solid case to call/email/chat about to try to get the points manually awarded.

^^^ That... I pick up stuff at my hometown all the time, the points don't show up until after it is 'picked up'. But be aware once you get the points they are only good for 7 days afterwards. My points showed up almost instantly after picking up, so I went ahead and made another purchase in the store to use them right away.

I ordered something Tuesday and it is scheduled to be delivered today(Friday) and the point showed up last night, and I immediately used $20 to order something else

That's because you ordered it for shipment. As soon as the item leaves their warehouse it leaves their custody, thus transfer considered complete, and points are awarded.

The reason I think I am screwed is it's going to be over a week from time of order to pickup. These points normally expire after a week. Thus the timer is actually counting down now and I will be at the end of the week by pickup, thus no points.

What I am going to do is cancel the order and then use the points I used to pay for something ship to home. Then use the $20 for what I wanted initially.

Points aren't activated until pickup then you have 7 days from when they are added in your account... You are good, don't cancel your order...

For people who haven't used the current online $20back$20/$50back$100 offer:

Knipex 16" Pliers Wrench XL $118.85

That is already the lowest current price I see online. If you have a $15 on $100 or less surprise points (pretty common) then You can buy it for $103.85 and get more than $50 back, for a net of about $50. Amazon lowest ever is $96.26.

If you don't have the surprise points you should be able to use a coupon, like $10 off $100 storewide or tools, also pretty common.

That is a great deal. You just need to trust the points system and that you won't need to make phone calls etc to actually get the points back. I've been burned too many times now.

I decided that the 12" is big enough for nearly any job I come across as a homeowner/hobbyist. The 12" has a jaw capacity of 2-3/8". The 16" has a jaw capacity of 3-3/8".

If you need something that giant. You could also get the Made in the USA Craftsman 18" Pipe Wrench that is on sale for $23 with $20 back in points. Either do store pickup or add a 2 buck filler for free shipping.

Thanks to the new $20 back offer I bought this and a couple T-shirts shipped.

Will spend the points Sunday.

I'm hoping they'll extend the $20 cashback in points offer again on the 18th, so we might be able to do it again with the Family & Friends discounts. ;)

I really like my plier wrench, and totally agree with you, but I still want the 16" version :lol_hitti

Adding that into my list - maybe one day if I win a lottery...

I'm curious if you've seen any advertising yet to confirm F&F is coming up this Sunday? (I'd guessed it would be, based on the dates that the last in-store bounceback coupon can be used.)

PS: Sounds like they've giving out another round of bounceback coupons this weekend too. Someone posted in the other thread that they got one today for $12 off $12+.

Someone told me they use the Knipex pliers wrench to squeeze in roll pins. The parallel jaws work better than other pliers like channel locks. Of course, you could also use the pipe wrench for that task ... as a hammer.

No advertising (budget went to I guess), but the over burdened employee the other night told a guy NOT to buy a snowblower, because the price drops lower a couple times a year. Hmm, guess this employee didn't hear about Sears doing absolutely horrible. then as the guy was walking away, he said he can save 10% on Sunday with the F&F event. So did pic up on that bit of news.

Looks like they have limited time to stock now

I bought the wife a pillow. $30 after freecash, then I was supposed to get $21.40 back in points. Well, after my wife had slept on that pillow for 3 nights and I still didn't have points in my account I chatted and got them added. The agent said something about how normally their "backend rewards team" takes care of points issues. I tried to ask them who I should contact next time but they ended the chat. Do you guys normally contact someone else or just the normal chat on sears' site?

Yeah, I didn't mean TV/print ads, they definitely aren't spending on those in most markets. Just stuff like emails, signs, website banners, etc.

Bingo, sounds like that confirms it!

Reminder for anyone thinking about shopping on Sunday, the F&F discount gets applied as a virtual coupon, so it prevents using any other coupons unless an employee is willing to do a manual override for you. You can still use surprise points freecash offers, though.

Your options for complaining about not receiving points are:
- sears.com chat
- email [email protected]
- call SYW (there's a phone number somewhere)

Any of them can help you or not, depending on what rep you get.

"Backend" means a team with no customer-accessible contact method, I think; IDK how that's supposed to help anybody.

I normally do the chat, seems to be the quickest and easiest...

My HomeTown they were putting away the snowblowers the other day and about to wash off all the lawn mowers...

Yup, that's why I was hoping for an extension on the cashback in points offer. Though, I can't remember if my coupons were blocked online during the last F&F event.

As I've posted about a couple times before, you definitely can't use coupons on an F&F day, the F&F 10% off gets applied to your transaction as an automatic coupon that can't be combined with other coupons. An employee who didn't realize that's how it worked had told me the day before an F&F sale a few months ago to come back on Sunday, and assured me that the other coupon I wanted to use would work with it. When it did not work, he manually adjusted the item's price down by 10% and removed the F&F coupon so that I could use my other coupon, but only because he had promised me personally to make it work that one time.

It seems like, longer ago, they used to actually have the prices on F&F day 10% lower in the system like other sales, so you could use coupons with it. But not with the way it works now.

I went and made an in-store purchase today, using my $5 off $5 offer (from an SYW game several days ago) that expires Monday. Didn't receive a $x off $x bounceback coupon, but did receive a $5 off $10 offer good next week. So now I need to use both that and the not-combinable $10 off $10 bounceback coupon I got with last weekend's in-store purchase, before the end of next week.

And here's a tip for anyone interested in buying one of the Craftsman Sidewinder tape measures. I got the 25ft one last year and got the 16ft one today (they are more bulky than normal tape measures, so I decided I wanted the smaller one too). At the time I got the 25ft, the first one I picked up off the shelf worked fine. But today, there were something like 7 of the 16ft ones on the shelf, and only 2 of them worked properly (on the others, the auto-lock wasn't auto-locking and the retraction was sluggish). So this is one of those items you definitely don't want to order online (whether for pick-up or shipping)... go in-store and test them before you buy so you know you're not getting a dud!
