Just enough room on that stubby Nepros handle to fit a nice length cheater bar on.

You can purchase those from the Vessel US distributor for $50, I've made several purchases from them in the past.

This may very well be the best option for these particular tools. I usually find that USA distributors of Japanese and European tools charge more than overseas stores, but Amazon Japan does not appear to sell this and the first Rakuten store I found them at (could be others) is actually a bit more expensive. https://global.rakuten.com/en/store/mutsuura/item/10495968/

The one thing I like about Amazon Japan vs. Rakuten is that Amazon tells you the shipping cost before you purchase, and Rakuten stores in my experience calculate it after packing your order. This separate transaction can delay shipment by a day or two, and unless you know the weight of the tools you can only guess how much the shipping will actually cost.

EMS shipping from Japan is not inexpensive. Amazon has always been quicker and cheaper, probably due to the volume of items they ship.

Got some new tools from Japanese amazon. Got the nepros wrench for 55$ which seems to be the lowest I ever saw it. The nippers are made by fujiya and are cheap but the metal seems good enough not kieba quality but still good. The engineer pz64 are great quality but I do not know for sure if they are made in Japan. There is no indication of county of origin on the pliers or package. DSC_0232.jpg

Pretty hilarious that people can order things from Japan and arrives quicker than my supposedly "2 day shipping" from walmart which took a week that is only 500 miles away (and my package was stolen, went 3 days without tracking updates and then said it was left at the back door). The new one still hasn't even shown up yet and it's been a probably 2 weeks since I first placed the order.

Looking at your avatar and reading this post I can’t help but get a bit of a George Costanza, “George is getting upset!” vibe.
I hope your replacement shows up soon. 👍

Thanks for the heads up. I was actually hoping to get the 330 series ones, I think it’s 3310PS set that have the hammer striking caps.
I will search around.

Amazon Japan has the 3310PS set for 70 bucks. I'm having trouble posting a direct link due to Japanese character issues, but if you go to Amazon Japan and search for B077S7FRS4, you should find it. Good luck!

Thanks Tanukiboy, the picture shows the non-striking cap, perhaps its just the wrong image, does the listing mention striking caps? See image below for the ones I am after.

Thanks 1foxracing, however I am looking for these ones in particular:

I think you're correct that the picture at Amazon JP is wrong. According to the description at Rakuten, the 3310PS set has striking caps (machine translated as "A penetration type to be able to beat with a hammer. With star-shaped nut."). Here are some pictures of the 3310PS set from Rakuten that show the striking caps:

I think that they are the striking caps on Amazon as I just ran the description through google translate and it comes up:

Convenient set covering all sizes of woody penetration driver.
Convenient to keep with a strong hard case.
-5.5 X 75, - 6 X 100, - 6 X 150, - 8 X 150, +1 X 75, + 2 X 100, + 2 X 1510, + 3 X 150
Stubby (not penetrating): - 6 X 15, + 2 X 15

So I think by penetration they mean striking?!

Thanks tanukiboy.

I got to use my Vessel Woody screw drivers trying to tighten a hose clamp in a vat of oil. I gotta say they really work. The Wera screw driver I was using with a cushioned "non-slip" handle was completely and utterly useless. Couldn't get any torque at all. The Vessel worked perfectly.

I heard it through the grape vine that Frank (frankstools.com) may be getting some Vessel 3310PS sets in, by special request. Just a heads-up for anyone else here in the states who can't easily obtain them. :)

After some deliberation, I just pulled the trigger on another amazon.jp order. The ****** federal government is reducing the GST exemption threshold on imports down from $1000 to $0, to cash in on the online market and supposedly help local businesses. Amazon's reaction to this is going to be to geoblock Australian customers from their other global sites, limiting us to Amazons (terrible) Australian one. Boo.

Having to pay the GST (10%) on stuff is annoying but not the end of the world. Limiting us to their .au site however - with its poor choice and inflated prices - ruins things totally.

Anyhow, as a most likely final amazon order and to get in before the 10% tax comes in I have some nice unusual japanese (and other) stuff on the way! :D Rakuten from here on in I guess... a bit less convenient to use, higher shipping prices in my limited experience so far, but slightly lower parts prices somewhat compensates.

Looking forward to some PB Swiss, Vessel, Anex, KTC and Koken... :bounce:

FWIW, I was told by Vessel rep that all Vessel cross point (+) screwdrivers are manufactured to JIS specs.

Just want to jump in here and say that the JIS standard is backwards compatible with Philips head standard, but Philips is not backwards compatible with JIS. You can, of course, use a Philips driver on a JIS screw, but it will cam out and destroy the screw head.

If you own a Japanese motorcycle then a set of JIS screwdrivers is a life-changing experience...

I also want to say that I have a set of the Vessel JIS screw drivers and they are an absolute pleasure to use. They are, by far, my most used tools and I use the hell out of them. They still look as good as the day I opened the box.

Best tool purchase I've ever made.

Vessel Statement on JIS Compatibility:
'The Phillips tip of VESSEL screwdrivers is designed with less tolerance than the JIS or ISO standards. Therefore, the VESSEL tip standard is within both the JIS and ISO standards. i.e. it complies with the JIS standard as well as the ISO standard.'

So here is my Japanese-made arbor press, made by Kabako...I've not been able to find a lick of information about the manufacturer, but it sure is a stout press.

Very well, regardless though, the vessel drivers have made destroying the JIS screws on the vintage motorcycles a thing of the past.

If you don't have a set yet, getcha some!

DIN 5260 is the latest and greatest standard, compatible with both Phillips and JIS screws. True JIS screwdrivers are a thing of the past, just like the JIS standard. But today, there are 'JIS compatible' screwdrivers, like the current Vessels. Wiha and PB Swiss also conform to DIN 5260 standard so they are JIS compatible. Snap-On does not, AFAIK...

I don't believe the PB Swiss conform to DIN 5260. They are only listed as conformance to DIN ISO 8764-1. I do know about the other brands. I use PB Swiss exclusively for PH and have a set of old Vessels to use on JIS/DIN 5260.

RE: PB Swiss, that could be. I did some research on this a few years ago and seem to remember that PBS were JIS compatible. I could very well be wrong.

Snap-On instinct tips are made to work on everything.

Hmmm, I have some motorcycle wrenching buddies that prefer the Vessels over S-O PH tips. Not sure if they were comparing Instincts though. Did S-O design a new PH tip for the instincts?
