Anyone know where to get parts - need 1 tool rest and 1 look thru window
ebay? best bet is to find another one and hope it has the parts you need.
Nice looking grinder!

I picked up this little but stout 1/4 HP one this week; I believe its a bit older than the rest I have (is that a 12-55 date on the front?). It doesn't appear to have come with side shields as there is no where to mount them, nor a quench tray. I was comparing it to the later model 1/3 HP one that I had sitting around; similar in size and shape, but the older one is noticeably heavier when you pick it up. Spins up smooth and seems to be in good shape, other than the cord needing to be replaced.
I'm trying to decide which one to keep for a brass brush and polishing wheel setup. Maybe both?![]()

That is bobioz1 setup so I'm not sure. I've seen 3 grinders on proper pedestals this week so don't give up.

No. Just the snap ring and inner collar that came on the grinder I believe. I’ll have to take a closer look at it. It’s been mounted on 2 different grinders this way and works well. I do think a trued up shaft collar is a good idea though.
lafester shortly after you posted "don't give up" I once again checked my local craigslist, and could not believe my old eyes. The posting was 1 hour old. Made arrangements to pick it up this morning first thing. Here is a photo. It's missing a few things like the eye protection, right wheel cover quenching, tray etc., but it runs fine. I really wanted it for the pedestal as I have a mint 1/3 horse already. I'll keep checking for E-bay for parts. So I am a happy camper.
Lafester you have the knack I was wondering if you could PM me the lottery numbers for this evening![]()

Yep, in 2 years only saw one guard come up for sale on eBay...
If you want to sell... let me know.
lafester; That one above is super clean, I got one in a block deal, kinda rusty though but it runs...I suppose this has been posted before but this just popped up for sale.
Very tempted to grab it but it's kind of pricey... but none of these sharpening sets are cheap. Sure looks like a block with a belsaw label.
Just looked around and see they have been using blocks for a long time... very nice

Bobioz1: I was told these are Craftsman tooThe one on the left is a Jet. I shortened it to match the others (kinda sorry I did). It’s stable enough. The one in the middle I like best. Can’t remember the brand.
Check my post above... maybe you both could use parts off of it?
Someone go get this if it's still available:

3/4HP (listed as 1/4HP) block with heavy duty base and Craftsman stand for $75 near Pittsburgh. If no one else does, I may make the five hour round trip to get it for myself.![]()

Actually Sears (Craftsman) was a customer for these grinders and did not make them for anybody, not even Sears. The ones whose part number begins 257 were made by Paramount Alleghretti/Poulan, now part of the Husqvarna group. The ones starting 397 were made by Delco. Dayton is a house brand of W.W. Grainger. Palgren is owned by Hansen. They all buy stuff and slap their name on itMine is a Dayton. Palmgren sells one that looks the same too.

First time I've found one > than 1/2hp near me. Not the 1 hp unicorn, but still nice. Definitely followed me home!
Laf: i've paid up for those round top commercial 1/2 HP's so probably over a benjamin and less than 2 of them would be my guess, but depends on how much inventory you have in your area. if it had the metal shields i'd probably buy it or one like it cause its one of my favorite models.

You can do it!Only a 3-4 hr drive for me. If i wasn't already going an hour the OTHER DIRECTION to get a different block grinder today I'd probably change my plans!!!
OMG take my money!!!! Someone buy that if you live close by!
Sure wish I was closer! One step below new in box I think.
The ad is still up

Not for long![]()
Laf: great idea using the original Craftsman planer stand for your BLOCKMEISTER II. if you have the room to put extensions on the buffer side I would unless you don't need more access to the wheel.
Blockmeister II lol. Maybe if I ever find a block worthy of the name I will do a full restore on it. These are actually lathe pedestals but could easily be used for a jointer, and probably were in many cases.
Lafester,
I looks great! I've had mine for a few years and, while I still like the belts, I do find that I use the side wheel more often. I did get the side table. HOWEVER, like everything Multitool, I had to put in better bolts to make it secure. With the original hardware, the table was always moving off of 90 degrees. Bottom line is that I like the side table and miter gage and use them a lot, but be prepared to do some tweaking to get it working right if you decide to get one.
Is there someone reproducing the labels now that sector9 created a few years ago? I'd just like to buy one of these if someone is making them.

Anyone near Waco, TX interested in this 1/2HP? Surface rust detracts from the appeal, but all guards & shields appear to be in place.
They're asking $50
Lurker here...I bought this one, actually had this thread tagged for reference and was like "hey, that's my grinder!"
Runs great! Now to just add it to my yet to be restored craftsman bandsaw and 60s atlas drill press.
ETA: It's dated Dec 12 1973.
