I went looking for the Milwaukee m18 set from the hot deals thread. Went to 2 stores and none of them had them.went to lowes for a few items and saw the porter cable set for 99.00. It's 20v and looked all right. Bought it and will try it at work.dont use battery tools a lot, but if I do I need a lil juice. Anyone have this set or experience with porter cable in general?

I have had the PC 20v drill, driver, light, and circ saw for about a year. They have done everything I have thrown at them. I like the light the best. I also have the Milwaukee 12v FUEL and a DeWalt. Of course, the Milwaukee is tops but the DeWalt is right behind it. If you are doing general household stuff, you will be very pleased with the PC. Be sure to get a light. Also ditch the bag and replace it with an open tote.

Thanks guys. I have Milwaukee m12 combo, love it. Up to 4 batteries for the set now. We use primarily air tools at work, but for a 100 bucks I figured what the heck. Worst case, one of my son's gets some tools. Need to look into the other tools in the line tho.

I have an older set when impact drivers and lith-ion first came out. Honestly they work fine besides the 2.0ah batts they came with. Ive probably abused them for 5-6 years with no issues.

Thanks for your kind words. I have neglected the website for the past few months because I have been Gladiator-ing my garage shop. You can check out the (slow) progress here on GJ--My garage Gladiator thread in the Gallery section.

Once I clear out a little more junk, I hope to get back into real woodworking. Good luck with your combo set.

It is my understanding that PC is basically a slightly stripped DeWalt that Lowes can sell for a little less. The cosmetics might be a little different. A lot of companies do this, going back many years. GE/Hotpoint, Kitchenaid/Whirlpool. It did not start out that way but now Stanley Black & Decker owns DeWalt and Porter Cable. It makes no sense to produce two totally different lines at the same price point to compete with each other. I would look at the similar DeWalt to see what I was giving up and the difference in price before buying a Porter Cable. I have an old Porter Cable NiCd drill driver that still works fine. I had one battery rebuilt a few years ago and put on a better chuck.
