I was able to get the Audi to the my tint guy on Friday evening. I picked it up Saturday and I am very happy with the tint. I also ordered a oil service kit and it arrived this weekend. Great kit with all German products and a magnetic oil plug. The oil definitely needed servicing. When I picked up the car from the dealer a couple of weeks ago, there was some duct tape on the air cleaner snorkel. I removed the tape and I found out that nothing was broken, it was just not fitted back together correctly. :wtf: That is when I discovered that it needed an air filter and pre-filter. I ordered that stuff over the weekend.

Did some more work on the Audi last weekend.
I replaced the Air filter and pre-filter which were in pretty bad shape.
I cleaned and painted the calipers, which makes them look so much better.
When re-installing everything I clean and lubed all of the hardware.
I also cleaned the rims more thoroughly since I had them off to paint the calipers.

I can't believe it's almost June and I am just now getting back on the siding project. The weather has been a big factor in this. Also, my wife has me working on a main bath renovation. :wtf:
I made some progress on stripping off the old stuff on Sunday and Monday.
I actually removed the upper cedar lap boards too, but did not get a shot of it.
This ladder work is slow going. I found some rot on the trim boards from the steel siding, but nothing too bad. That will all get replaced with vinyl anyway.

Oh that does not look like fun.

OK, so if I see that correctly, they had siding (red) then put an underlayment on top of that then more siding?? :headscrat

I also did a long over due shop project this past weekend. I finally moved my parts cleaner down from the wood shop where is has been for the past three years.
I was not sure where I could put it in the shop where it would be out of the way. My end locker cabinet is mainly empty with a few things in the bottom.
I did some measuring and found out that my parts cleaner will fit in there.
How perfect is that??? So, I brought it down and installed it, then added a LED light. This is a great set up for me  I wish I would have done this sooner, no more running to the wood shop every time I need to clean something.

Yes, the house was originally 12" Cedar lap siding painted barn red. Then, in the 80's it was steel sided over the old siding and they put 1/4" foam between the two for added insulation, which I doubt did much of anything

On Saturday I was able to get every thing stripped off the gable end and stripped off of the first section of wall around the corner. I also got the new corner cut and mounted, then I installed some house wrap. My chief nail puller got in the shot. :) She was out pulling nails from the cedar so that we could throw it on my trailer.
I was going to try and get the first few rows of siding mounted on Sunday, but I realized that I didn't have enough starter strips. :(

Since I could not do anything with the siding on Sunday, I went inside to finish more of my main bath project. It's getting there, slowly but surely.

I was back on the siding project this past weekend. If it would have stayed dry I think I could have finished the gable side this weekend. :(
Trimming the windows slowed me down some and all the ladder work is a real pain too.

Since we had rain all day Sunday, I moved back to the bathroom. I just about finished that room up. I just need to paint the ceiling and add a couple of outlets to the vanity and then I'm out of there.

Thanks for the compliments on the bathroom.

My dad and I were fixing up his tractor in my shop and now it was time to take it to him to do some work. Since I had to deliver his tractor, not much got done on the house.
While I was there for the weekend, my wife and I got a chance to ride some gravel.

Looks like you spent some time biking in the Shenandoah Valley. My neighbor and I just returned from there this past weekend. We took a week long motorcycle trip from VT to VA. Passed thru the Skyline and did 100 miles of the Blue Ridge Pkwy. Beautiful! Came up route 11 and spent a night in Woodstock, VA. Some nice countryside down there. Up to Pottsville, PA and did the Yuengling Brewery tour and dropped in at the Pocono Raceway infield to watch some cars practicing.

Yup, that is the Shenandoah Valley in the background. We rode up the WVA side and crossed over to VA on our ride. Woodstock is not far from where my dad lives. Sounds like you had a fun trip.

Back on siding the siding this past weekend. I got the final pieces of trim finished on the gable end.
Then, I stripped all of the old steel and cedar of the entire back of the house.
I finally am done with stripping off the old layers.
I built a false wall at the left corner of the bedroom wall to hide the radon fan and piping. I was able to get the bedroom wall sided and the bedroom window trimmed out. I just have to but on the final trim piece and that section is done.

I am really starting to see some light at the end of the tunnel. With any luck I will be able to finish this up in July. :bounce:

Loving the color. "This close to the finish, you've got to power through to the goal line" someone's football coach said

My daughter was going to drive up for a visit this weekend and we were going to take care of a few maintenance items on her car. I ordered the tool to remove the CV axle and I also ordered a new lower rad hose.
Then this happened. She was hit by a full size truck. She is fine, other than some sore muscles. However, I think the car will be a total loss.
I bought the car new and it has held up amazingly well. At 150k it was just starting to need a few maintenance items.
I guess we will be looking for a replacement instead of wrenching on it. :wtf:

The insurance company did total the car. It held it's value fairly well considering it was 10 years old with 150k on it.
We did some car shopping and found that the Mazda 3 was still the best value out of the cars she liked.
We gave her all of the insurance settlement and we used that to lease a 2018 Mazda 3 touring. We gave it a quick wax in my shop before she drove it back home to Maryland.
Now that she lives 3.5 hours away, it feels good to know that she will be fully covered if she has a car problem for the next three years.

The garage turned out really awesome. With the ceiling height that you have. Would you consider putting in a two or four post lift?

Yes, I had a lift in mind before I even started the build. I wish I would have known about the scissor lifts that can be inset into the floor, because I would have gone with one. Since I built the floor without the inset, I plan on getting a four post at some point.
I have just been so busy on the rest of the house, I haven't had time to think about the lift. :wtf:

Even a four post lift would be really nice to have. You can double stack cars or work on your car at a more comfortable height.

Understandable about being busy with othere projects going on.

We had some great weather this past weekend. I was able to make some fairly good progress on the back of the house. I opened my second to last box of siding just as I was finishing up for the day on Sunday. I estimate that I will have a box and a half left when I'm done.
I wasn't going to use this siding for my wood shop, but since I will have a bunch left over, I may make it match the house.

The pictures were shot in the afternoon, I did make it to the top row before stopping for the day.

Well we had an exciting week and weekend. The weekend of the 14th I took off from the house projects and went and rode the tandem with 77 other tandem cyclist in Lancaster. It was fun to meet other tandem teams. Then as soon as we got back my older dog broke his toe and had to have surgery. It's great fun trying to live with a super active dog that is supposed to be on activity restriction. :wtf:

This past weekend I did manage to get some more siding done and the trim around the windows done. Since it rained a fair amount this weekend, I also spent some time inside finishing off some final things in the kitchen and hallway.
I also ran a water line to the garage and installed a hose bib so that I can wash the cars and trucks without getting out 50 feet of hose. This will be so nice after I make the final connection to the system and get it going.

It has been slow going the past few weeks with all the rain we have been getting here. I have been making some progress. One row of siding and some trim and I will be done. With that being said, I do need to finish the back porch and the copula to be truly done.

Saturday I finished up the trim, lighting and even the new doorbell.
I still have a few things to work on, but the basic exterior of the house is done.

Unfortunately, I have plenty of other projects to work on, but it does feel good to get this one off the list.

Thanks guys.

I was able to spend a few minutes on Sturday and get the porch gable done. Here is a shot looking from the old garage back to the corner. Now all I have left is the cupola.
:)

Since my exterior is basically done, I was able to get some time in the shop again. I finally mounted and hooked up a couple of my hose reels that I have been tripping over for about a year. I mounted the 25 footer in the back of the shop by my workspace. The 50 footer is by the garage door, so that I can reach outside. Unfortunately they are only hooked up to my portable compressor because I still don't have my big compressor up and running. Maybe soon?

This past weekend I was able to get back to the shop again, I painted a couple of doors. I painted the interior door with some implement paint I had hanging around, it's Massey Ferguson Gray, I'm not sure if I like it up against the gray on the wall?

I also finally got back to the compressor project. I found the correct belt and modified the belt guard to work. Then I plumbed the line feeding the tank. My new pressure switch came in mail, so I wired that up and gave it a go.
It works... I'm not sure that I am happy with how fast it pumps, but I will give it a try. I just need to get a few black pipe parts in order to hook it up the existing hose reels.
