Hey guys I cleaned up a couple more. Here is a Prentiss Bulldog No. 56 6" jaws, it looks like it was almost never touched. By far one of the cleanest vises I have.
The second is a Reed 203, this one is also in very nice shape. The slide has no chisel marks in it whatsoever. Lastly, I saw a large 8" vise at auction last week and didnt think I would win it but after a long wait and a certain amount of money, I won a Reed 108R. The jaws on this thing look great and the slide doesnt look like its been used for an anvil like most vises. A guy at the auction took a look at it for me and said it truly was as nice as in the pictures. Im driving down to pick it up tomorrow morning. Ill upload more pictures when I get it.

On grinding the welds flat to the sides, then the angle "cap" at an angle to the edge of the original jaws, and popping the angle off, then having a look-see at the original jaws. It might no be hard to fix up.
