Good source for Oetiker clamps?

I'm not exactly sure what size(s) I need, but its got to fit over 3/8" transmission cooler hose. OD is about 5/8 or a little larger.

I see multi-packs on Amazon for around $50. Can I do better? Thanks!

The clamp sizes are metric, so 5/8 = 16mm. You want the clamp to be as small as possible and still fit the hose when its on the barb.

I bought them off Amazon, dont remember the price off hand of the set, 10packs of one size could be bought as well.

keep in mind there are stainless and galvanized ones, different widths etc.

So that you know you're comparing the same ones

BTW I have a proper pinch tool but a CV joint tool works equally well.

I bought these two kits, combined them into another box, and added more of specific sizes that seemed to get used often. They are the single ear CV style clamp in stainless.

I also had picked up the Knipex crimp tool with the side ear, comes in handy at times.

Oetiker used to get their hand tooling from Knipex. A few years ago they built a plant in Branford, Conn., where they now make their own tools. I have the side crimper. Unless it is a wide clamp, the side crimper also has end crip jaws and will do end crimps equally well. They are a a World wide company but the tools are Made in USA.

Those 2-ear style clamps are not good on rubber hoses. They leave a loose spot that will eventually leak when the rubber loses elasticity.

Go for "stepless" 1-ear Oetiker clamps.

FYI, 1/2" PEX is 5/8" OD. So, if your hose is really 5/8" OD, you can go to the hardware store and pick up the Oetiker clamps made for PEX connections in a 10-pack for far cheaper than you'll pay for a large assortment.

I havent really had a problem with them leaking, as another poster said use the smallest that will fit, i go up a size or two so it still compresses the hose but the ears are fully crimped. Or basically touching eachother.

I've purchased mine through either my local NAPA or McMaster Carr. Either one has had good quality clamps and reasonably priced.
