It looks pretty straight forward to operate, but no manual.

I like manuals. Any ideas?

I checked OWW /VM and Googled it.

Thanks.

Better for metal than most 6/12 combo units, seldom do you find smaller disks that run in the same ballpark as 20" units.

Thanks guys. $50 is a screaming deal, this is one heavy machine.

I eMailed Enco for part info, it has a couple of white metal pieces that are broken. It's usable as is, but takes some fussing to adjust the wheel's grinding table.

I hope the Block heads don't ban me for bringing home a non-Block machine. :bitchslap

Ya, how about that too boot!

Taiwan is turning out very decent tools/machines. I have a couple of nice Grizzley woodworking shop tools.

I do wish the US was turning out price competitive tools good quality. I like shopping 'local'.

Yep spell check does not catch all the mistakes. And I get in a hurry a lot of the time. On an off note still looking for a block grinder around me still no luck. My brother got my dads.

Have one of these same units in my shop and it looks like the starting cap gave up the ghost... Unfortunately the fluid leaked out and ate away most of the markings on the cap. I can't read the MFD rating at all and the only bit of the model number I can see is "2131". Does anyone have a manual, spec sheet, or the ability to check what cap is in their machine?

Which block grinder do you have? What is the model number? They came in several sizes and variations. They all look similar. Sears Parts Direct probably would not have the value with the part number but they or E Replacements may have a usable picture to get the value from. One or both may even have the cap. The company that made the block grinders, ended up as part of Husqvarna group and some block grinder part numbers are in their catalog. Snoop around and you may find the info.

Oops I should have been more clear, I have the Enco 163-4700 (not a craftsman). Unless you mean this Enco was sold through sears or is otherwise the same as a Craftsman model?

OK, here you go.

This is a dual voltage wiring diagram.

Here's what I found under the cover of my Enco.

Here's the numbers from the start cap. I have found it's safe to be with in +10% of the MFD. Grainger, Amazon, etc ... will have these.

Would you happen to have an owner/operator manual?
:)

I found a replacement start cap that should work, on Amazon for $16.18 with free Prime shipping.

PTMJ400 - Packard Aftermarket Replacement Motor Start Capacitor 400-480 MFD 220 250 Volt

Caution: Be sure you know how to safely discharge a capacitor.

Torque man 2002 I noticed that V capacitor you show is marked 220 volts does the voltage not matter? If I recall correctly from my high school Electronics class or prior research the voltage would not matter but I am not sure reason for my question LMAO........................ Amen

I know this is an old post, but I have this sander and need to change it from 110v to 220v. Problem is the wiring diagram showing the correct motor taps under the cover is missing. I reached out to the parent company MSC, they were able to dig up the old manual for me but could not find the wiring diagram. Would you happen to have that sticker under the wiring cover?

*Edit* I see you've already posted the information in a post I couldn't see before I became a garagejournal member. I attached the owner/operator manual to that post as you had inquired about it there.

I don't know if anyone posted the owner operator manual, but I got this from parent company MSC.

I see you have found the diagram. I had forgotten I posted it.

While searching for a completely different reason, I came across the Grizzly owners manual MODEL G1183/G1276, that is very close (maybe identical) to the ENCO Model 163-4700.

These color and larger diagrams may be helpful, also.

BTW - My sander/grinder is a beast and is very loud. I'm wondering if yours makes a lot of noise. And it really needs to be on a 20A circuit, it has tripped a 15A lighting circuit breaker.

For full size or to download manual, click on image.
