jet/wilton 4002 belt sander

I picked up a jet 4002 for next to nothing awhile back. seems to work descent. it makes alot of noise when its running and come to find out the v-belt is trashed. cheapest I can find one is 30 dollars. anyone got any better insite? it is a very short v-belt. think pull off and take to napa?

You will need to determine what belt design that is, as well as the length. The M-19 designation in the photo is probably not the real number, just a stock photo of a belt. Are there any markings on your belt?

It may be a metric belt. They are available, but not as common as standard belts. There may be a chance that an American A belt (.500 x .3125) will fit, since a 13mm belt (.5118 x .3937) is almost exactly 1/2" wide.

Have you tried a local store that carries Wilton/Jet? I have had good luck finding parts this way.

Take to your auto parts store. Best to go to an independent store. Otherwise be prepared for getting asked what year/make/model/displacement/floor mat color car it came off of. Then get puzzled looks with no resulting solution.

I will take the belt off of the sander this weekend and see if I can locate one locally.
