Rian I know you are asleep now but that is damn cool!

Bret

Thank you, I assume you are talking about the Imp.

Couple of clips about these giant slayers.

And in car race footage Imp vs Imp.

Took a day off Friday to get a load of yard work and hedges done as my back is so knackered now that I cannot just do it in one long push.
I had planned for Sunday to get into the garage to start on the front fenders.
Not happening in the end. Got a movie date at 2.30 today with Joy, much more fun.

Only one Bootfair now.
Today’s mini haul.

Beer bucket for Craig £1.00
Weird Norwegian mug 50p
Gruffalo mug 20p
Toy for dog 50p
Bottles of nails 50p each
CD’s for myself 20p each
Snail Brand spanner 50p

Rian, I assume Criag is going to use the bucket for ice to cool down a few tinnies. If it's his drinking mug it might be time for an intervention.

Very nice scores at the boot fair and those jars of nails are perfect. My neighbor stopped at a hardware store that was going out of business and walked out with a hundred pounds of nails. He tried to pawn them off on me when he moved but I declined. My nail collection is small and old and I try not to add to it.

The construction nails.

The little nails.

The nails I'll probably never use (Iron Shoe Nails?).

And some non-nails (Copper Belt Rivets?).

The oddball nails in my collection were gifts from neighbors when the husband passed away and it was harder to say no thank you. Luckily they didn't leave behind 5-gallon buckets of nails.

You know those shoe nails are horse shoe nails.
Andy, I know there are miniature horses but those shoe nails are 5/8-inch (15mm) long so they must be for a "teacup" horse. It must be like the Poodle sizes -- Standard > Miniature > Toy > Teacup.

Which I have seen turned into jewelry and art.

I do not see them.
They should look like this.

Like this?

Like that. [emoji106]

Simon and Andrew, that's gonna be some tiny tools to bend that tiny nail.

Rian, back to your regularly scheduled posts -- apologies for the hijack.

Been trying to kill this cactus for three years, and it keeps on giving.

Last night.

This morning before 06.00

Life is good.

Prozac May have a big job ahead of him.

PaulY called me this morning to offer me a rather large, non functioning wind out awning.....

To be collected over in Essex stuck through the open sunroof.

Not a lot, but much to show.

Driving up to my home tonight I saw some krap on the pavement two houses down.

Went to investigate and brought some stuff back, all covered in bird poop.

Included three old paraffin lamps, a chain and hook and a steel pin.

Also a 450watt Random Orbit DA Sander, identified by JohnnyBravo after a quick check on the part number.
Just needs a backing pad.

Strange front end.

Dennis continues on his own, building his replica gas station.

Still looking for and gathering bits to decorate it.

Thats it.

Took a day vacation yesterday and did a load of garden work, as well as cutting my and Mickeys hedges. The heat was a killer, but it is all done.

Bootfair in the morning and hope to get some time on one or both of the truck fenders to clean them up to see what is hidden under it all,

Thanks for checking in.

Rian, your yard is always nice and neat, like out of a Better Homes and Gardens magazine. As with work, you have the touch!

Rian, the screwed on piece is a weight that keeps the machine from throwing you around. My Porter Cable has different weights for different size pads (6-inch or 5-inch). If your machine seems to orbit too much, it might need a bigger (or smaller) pad. I'd try a 6-inch to start.

YUP !!!!

You can NEVER have enough tape measures, spread everywhere.

And having two in one spot is not wrong, even three is good.

Nope, left and right handed certainly makes it more interesting.

If only people could see the truth.

You almost had a visitor yesterday/today. But I ran out of time and I am currently on route to airport. Just taking a tea break right now.
Maybe next time I am in England????

Thank you Ric,

The garden certainly is part of my mental health repair kit.

LOL, Bob! Adequate for your needs, of course!

Sorry for the hijack, Rian, it was late and I was feeling goofy.

Never an issue.

I will try whatever I have laying around in the garage, then spend if needed.

or 150mm....

Thank you Dwight, it has been an unwell plant for years, got sick indoors, and then banished in case it got others sick, seems to like surprising me often, bit like reminding you nothing is,ever too late, or too much hassle.

Well, what do you get if you combine a clown, well, a plate spinner.....

A truckload of beer

Bacon.......

The Missouri Mayhem Terminator.

And some black lines that may just matter.

All headed to go inspect progress here.

Progress......

A old skinny cat with a sixth sense suddenly stuck like glue by your side or on top of you.

Must be a road trip.

Strange weekend, I was busy nonstop, and all I can show for it is a clean house, garden and bathrooms, plus a confirmed house sitter and cat sitter for September, all the way from Republic, Missouri.

How small is this world, it is where Dennis’ son Adam grew up.

PS. Bootfairs sucked big time today, spent a total of £2.20 on three items.

Better luck next week.

Oh, and did over 150 miles in Prozac too with Joy and moving stuff about.

Evening mate ,

Nothing wrong with a tidy house and garden, and helping others.
Not long to go 'till the road trip now, have you sorted your route out yet?
We did a boot sale last weekend and made about £150, but if I charged everyone a £1 who took a photo of the split screen, we would have doubled our money:lol_hitti

Have a good week .

Bit disappointed with your finds this week, generally enjoy a longer browse through your boot fair booty on a Monday night my time! Better luck next week.

Rian, it sounds like you should offer up a sacrifice to the bootfair gods before your next expedition. You are fortunate in that you have the perfect altar for sacrifices in your backyard. Hopefully this will improve the results of your outings, and worst case scenario, you fill the stomach.

Morning Mate,

Trust me, your disappointment is small compared to mine.

I get up by 06.00 to feed the cats, mug of tea and then drive off to the two Bootfairs, one is 4 miles and one 11 miles from home.
So whenI get nothing, or get a 20p Crocodile 11 miles from home, it is an expensive trip.

Also finding tools and machines has become almost impossible, there is such a massive group of Eastern Bloc people all trying to find the golden egg that that this goose that is England is said to have laid, that they literally unpack the cars as people set up, shove you out the way and grab stuff, now I cannot deal with that sort of behaviour which means I tend to go about 30 minutes later than what I used to, resulting in less prime stuff. I also live in an area that is certainly not well off, so the quality of stuff is lacking.
Load of baby clothes, plastic toys, and some old deceased estate shed clearance stuff. Rarely a gem.

The whole vibe and content of Bootfairs has changed the last 3-4 years, and I keep wondering if it is even worth going anymore. The fields are rarely full anymore now, with a 2/3 full field being a good day.

Hi Eugene,

If only a sacrificial offering would work...... Harley?

As mentioned above, there is just not as much content at the two I visit.

Friends like JohnnyBravo Thread: http://forum.retro-rides.org/thread/200406/wheels-on-wagon tend to go to other Bootfairs and find much better quality stuff.

I just live in hope.

Sorry, mate, I was trying to be a bit funny I certainly didn't mean to bum you out. :shocking:
I just thought a quiet week was had. I feel your pain, we have the same issues here on the other side of the world, at least in the big cities, we chose to leave it all behind and move away where the people and the area are like it was 40 years ago. Think quiet coastal /rural England.
Maybe next weekend you will hit the motherload! :lol_hitti

And congratulations are in order, 4000 posts!

Random acts of kindness some call it.

I say “Just because I can”

Recently bought a book at a Bootfair for my guest bathroom, one of the Chevy truck forum guys saw it and commented on it, so I offered it to him, he accepted and I put it and a Queens Jubilee coin in original presentation pack in the mail to him in Texas.

Yesterday the mailman delivered an envelope with some license plates, and a covering letter from Karl (Aggie)

Thank you mate.

Pulled from another thread, only in the USA

Weirdly, at the same time a “Come and collect it if you dare” card was put in my mail.

When I broke down last year in Arkansas, I was rescued and helped by Charles.
He sent me a parcel too.
Being a good, older Christian man and totally honest, he did a complete customs declaration on the contents.
Ultimately this was the associated costs, clearly quite unrealistic but I appreciate the gesture.
More than £20.00 in import duty and a handling fee for the post office plus of course parking and a trip into town.

Contents, along with a coin.

Covering letter from Charles.

Mate Bryan sent another pic of his Imp

This years Road trip should be a Humdinger, with various visits to factories and members from other forums, including Andy in Oklahoma who collects all the Alluminiumhe can lay his hands on, as well as brass and bronze, which he then melts down to produce amongst others, hammers, trivets etc.

His thread here: https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=334140

Headed to the USA with a clown as a travel partner is a bit worrying, but looking forward to this one.

Meet Craig, my travel buddy this year.

Seems to run in the family too.

PS: Craig is looking for various parts for his 47-50 Chevy AD trucks, Suburban and Fleetline.

Ideally he needs patina’d parts as his vehicles are all well worn.

I will post up his wishlist/what he is looking for when he gives it to me.
