Good morning! Anyone know if this deal is still going or how long it took for someone to contact you after you submitted the form?

I'm new to the site, but have been "lurking" to learn how to best set up my shop with a good compressor and lift. Thanks to everyone who posts on here regularly!

My VMX-7580V-601 arrived safely last week. Thank you Bendpak. :bounce:

I recently went to Home Depot and purchased the appropriate 8awg wiring. Wiring in garage is the orange colored 10-2 awg Romex connected to a dual 20amp breaker (40amp total).

My questions for you guys that also jumped in on this awesome opportunity, where did you purchase your ISO 100, non detergent oil?

Locally, I found two choices which both claim are ISO 100 certified and non-detergent oil. Is either choice ok to use?

Home Depot
https://www.homedepot.com/p/Husky-16-oz-Air-Compressor-Oil-HDA10700AV/100096995

Lowes
https://www.lowes.com/pd/Kobalt-16-oz-Synth-Compressor-Oil/3652078

The stuff from Lowes says synthetic blend. Is that ok to use? The instructions I believe state that single weight oil should be used.

Also, what air regulator are you guys using, and where did you get it? Any pictures would be most appreciated. Thank you.

I should get my compressor next week so I purchased a gallon of royal purple compressor oil online. I believe someone here stated that it required 4 pints but the manual stated an oil change after 8 hours. I think that Oreileys auto parts carry it if you don't want to wait.

The royal purple compressor oil is what you want. It's top notch and all I use.

Before the BendPak, I tried it in my older compressor and I swear it made it sound quieter as well. Just an extra bonus. You will need almost 1/2 gal

What about the promo you ask? Are the 10 units already sold? Is the promo over? Yes, and sort of yes.

We sold ten units within the first two weeks. Thank all of you for the confidence in placing your order. We are exploring extending this promo for EXACTLY TEN MORE UNITS for a total of 20 units sold below cost. Details about the time/date when this next promo is open to the public will be shared on this thread.

Before we move forward with the next (and final) group of ten, we will be waiting for the first batch of buyers to post their reviews and photos on this thread. Thanks NitroShark for the detailed write up. Hopefully we’ll be reading more reviews soon.

P.S.
For those of you who have photos but are not sure how to place them via URL/link (the proper way), please email us your images (along with your contact info) to [email protected]. We will supply you with exclusive URL's for each image that will be hosted on our website server.

Shipped my compressor to work. Was about a week before got it home on my small trailer. At the time I was painting my shop addition, and the roads were real crappy. Installed new service entrance today, now working on my boiler. I'm excited to use it, but it may be a little while before I get it set in place and wired up. I haven't unwrapped it yet but it seems to have arrived in perfect condItion. Didn't plan on purchasing a compressor this size for 6 months to a year from now, couldn't pass this up. I've been researching 7.5 hp compressors for a couple years. These units are an exceptional value at full price. Thank You Bendpak!!!

My compressor arrived yesterday and I had the truck driver load it onto my trailer. I then proceeded to figure out how to get it offloaded.

20180227_121940_zpsq6beoepg.jpg

It was wrapped and crated very well so there shouldn't be any mishaps or scratches during shipment. My next move was to remove the exterior crating so I could attempt to get it off of the trailer.

Man is this thing heavy! 850 lbs according to the shipping label! I was able to make some ramps with lumber and by supporting the centers with cribbing, was able to pull it down the ramps using a come-along. I recruited some help as it was top heavy sliding down the ramp. I should have purchased a Bend Pak lift first to help unload this! Once down the ramp, we walked it into it's final position. and unwrapped this beauty.

I performed a quick inspection, screwed on the two mufflers, added 1 quart of Royal Purple compressor oil, and temporarily wired it up to perform the 30 minute break in. Thank goodness Bend Pak included the wiring diagram update because there is a lot going on under the electrical cover. I had the power and disconnect all ready as I completed it the week before using a 40 amp breaker and #8 wire. I flipped the breaker, opened the tank drain, then flipped the starter switch to on. All I can say is wow! Man is this thing quiet! I actually thought something was wrong because if was 3 times quieter than my last compressor. I ensured the motor was turning the correct direction, the oil level was good and waited 30 minutes and shut the tank drain. It filled up the tank to around 170 psi in exactly 5 minutes!

Today I completed the wiring using the bottom knock out and connected it to my Milton filter/regulator and my Rapid Air shop lines.

My initial impressions are that this is one solid compressor. It's well built and well thought out. During the break in, the heat produced was significantly lower than any compressor that I've used. That should help significantly with the moisture issues.
To be honest, this is way more compressor that I will probably need but I wanted a two stage and couldn't pass up this deal. We'll see how durable it is but by the looks of the cast iron pump, the motor with twin belts and all associated hardware, I believe that this is built to last. I will provide a future update after I put some hours on it and put it to use.

For those lucky souls who smartly submitted a SIGN UP FORM, you will be receiving notification soon about the status of the offer. We are proceeding with the next round of ten units, (for a total of 20) then this offer sadly ends.

For those who did submit a form and may have been beyond the 20 unit extension, although the giveaway pricing will no longer be made available, a special Garage Journal price will be sent to you.

Thanks all of you who trusted BendPak to deliver yet another incredible product.

Jazmin Ramirez contacted me last Tuesday by e-mail and by phone. Very courteous and efficient.

Not sure when it will hit here, but can tell you, really looking forward to a real compressor!

A week to the day between order confirmation and delivery. Super!

The freight forwarder was excellent as well. The fellow delivering the compressor had to back his rig down the 900 foot driveway. He was skeptical on the capabilities of my JD, so elected to use his pallet jack for the little trip to the shop space. A little assist from the JD in the soft gravel:

Clearly, not it’s final resting place, but in a few days, should have it moved where in needs to be.

Without hijacking the thread, can someone PM me and help me figure out how to rotate my photos that I've uploaded to start my review? They're fine on my computer, but uploading them rotates them 90 degrees and I've received no answers from the site moderator. Thx!

Well, I got the call on a compressor today... Unfortunately, family needs come before my wants, and I had to respectfully decline the offer. Hopefully one of you lucky SOB's enjoys my "almost had it" compressor! :dunno::D

I made the first round offering but declined as I have an 8 HP gas power 40 gallon unit some weeks ago. I am glad Bendpak is offering a second round as I now decided to go with using electricity to drive the compressor. I was looking into IR and Quincy brands prior to this promotion to sandblast with (resto and mod on a 1972 Toyota FJ40).
I got a return call from Bendpak today and will hopefully post the delivery and install pictures and feedback in 2 weeks.

Thank you Bendpak for this offer.
The unit is a beast in size and weight.
I opt'ed for the residential tailgate delivery as my friend's pickup truck would have meant having a ramp or another forklift or tall crane to unload.
It was double stacked on a pallet so I used two 6 foot 1/4 thick 2 x4 steel rectangular tubes and slid them like forks into the top pallet. Wood blocking on one side and a car jack lifted the top pallet up while I pull the bottom pallet away.
Then the task of dropping the blocking on each side until the pallet was on the garage's apron.
I had purchased 5-inch polyurethane 1/2 inch stem heavy duty casters from Amazon to use to set up the compressor in its final location in the nack of my small one car garage.
And the height of the caster was just right for me to be able to slip into each foot of the compressor when I rocked each foot over to the edge of the pallet.
Yes, the unit is very top heavy.
I used the car jack to hold up the last foot off the pallet to install the last caster.
Using some hard rubber disks and some large outside diameter washers added to the caster's antivibration design (soft rubbery wheels).
The unit barely made it underneath garage's 7-foot header but it rolled very nicely into its final spot for plumbing and electrical hook up.

The compressor is overbuilt and very quiet.
I have some pictures but am not smart enough to upload them right now.

I'm finally getting to the compressor! Felt like a kid with a boxed toy that you can't touch until Christmas, but I'm finally getting there.

Has anyone figured out the size of the threaded knockouts on the bottom of the electrical box? I'm trying to run a flex conduit to the box with my 8 gauge wire, but the knockouts and threads are between 1/2" and 3/4".

Thanks in advance!

Dishpointer,

Thanks for the info. I was looking at your photos and it looked like you went into the center of the box, but not sure. I have two knockouts top and two bottom, but again they aren't 1/2" or 3/4" so I'm not sure what to use to take advantage of the threaded knockout.

I guess if all else fails, I can drill out a knockout to 3/4" size and not use the threads provided.

Thanks for the reply!

It's a PG (metric ) thread.. made for cable, but that is not to code for a 7.5 HP installation in the USA.

I drilled mine out to fit a (USA) imperial 3/4 NPT liquid tight flexible nonmetallic conduit.

I used a 1/2" threaded end, added about 1 1/2" of conduit to a 1/2" X 3/4" bushing and glued it up to the end of the 3/4" watertight whip.

Thanks for getting back to me on this. In the mean time, I went to a couple of electrical supply houses with the Teco Magnetic Switch info and everyone just scratched their heads.

I initially thought about drilling it out to fit 3/4", but after my initial look at the inside of the housing, it looked like the knockout area was molded from the front radius to the back of the housing at an angle. I'll have to check again to see if I can get it to work. Dishpointer's set-up adds pieces, but definitely would work.

Thanks again guys! I'm anxious to get it fired up and broken in.

Most industrial electrical stores won’t be use to seeing “PG” threaded connectors. They are used mostly in machinery control applications where SO rubber cord is utilized. Look at all the other connector on your new compressor. They are all PG metric-thread/style.

I wanted to use #6Cu and connecting lugs so ¾ NPT was my choice. You can Tap it out I used a ¾-14 NPTF.

If you choose to use ½ NPT the existing PG hole is too large in the ID (to tap 1/2NPT) so you will need to rig up an adapter setup like above.

Hope that helps you out a little more..

I used a sealtite fitting into a 3/4" coupler. On the compressor side of the coupler I used a reducing bushing with a 1/2" ****** inside. I put the ****** through the box & fastened it into the box with a nut. It worked fine.

As for some feedback on the compressor....
After some extended use, I'm glad to say it is working great.

It has fed a lot of spray guns, sanders & use of cut-off tools without a problem.

Directly from BendPak...

From our engineer....."Actual Knockouts are PG-16 which is threaded and the ID is 21.25 mm."

Too bad they don't include the adapter with the compressor.

Adapting is what we do...LOL I'll work on the connections using all your ideas to find what works best with the pieces available. Thanks again everyone!

Re: BendPak V-Max Elite air compressors (GJ members only)

Well..... glad to see it wasn’t just me who couldn’t figure out what that damn size was....lol.... I think I have bought and returned about every type of electrical connector there was out there trying to figure out the size of that hole!

Thank you for posting what the size is, I just ordered one from Amazon
