Good to hear from you Lyndon, not so good to hear about the knee.
Make sure you get a second and third opinion, too many of these bone doctors do em for the $$$$. My ortho refuses to do mine, and it's a lot worse than a lot of people who have them done. New one is only good for up to 10 years......
Cheers lyndsay

You should see a Dr Courtenay at St Vincent's Private in Sydney. Not only does he do the surgery for "No Gap", but the instrument inserted has a 50 year guarantee....
Lyndon, thank you for posting. We miss you but if it's only 731 days to parole, we'll try to be patient.
That Sydney show was a tool addict's dream. The shows I get to see sell Chinese seconds and rejects.
To me your most interesting acquisition is the Renovator. I get that it's an "
Extra Pair of Hands" but I really want to see a "
hands free construction project" because that would make my "fun-to-watch" projects look boring.
Bob - I'm yet to use the "Extra Pair of Hands"... but can advise that at present, I have discovered that it won't fit my bench... Go figure!
Bob,
That vice looks a lot like the Zyliss vice that I bought years ago at a Woodwrking Show in Richmond, VA. There is a used one on eBay

You can apparently order one from here new, but they have really gone up in price!

Good to see you have been busy in many ways and not just MIA from the forum. As for the knee all I can say is good luck.
Thanks for the update Lyndon
'Feast or famine' eh? it is still good to see you doing well and setting time aside for the shed and GJ. You have some very nice new tools to boot. Though I'm not quite sure on the purpose of the Renovator doodad. Seen one sold here under the Zyliss brand as mentioned. Looking forward to see what you use it for.
Know all too well how hard it is to maintain a balance that is a little bit less skewed towards the ones that pay you. We're about to go through the mother of all restructures and it is going to be a 'fun' few months ahead over here with more frequent travel implied. The good news is it should get warmer soon and downhill to Christmas and you'll be over the hump once those kids are married.
PS. Your photos show fine here.
Hi Lyndon, what a tool score ! You have been busy on all fronts.
I also went to the working with wood show ( Friday) and saw there were 2 vendors for that vice system, I actually watched the demo ( I think it was the other vendor) so I could see what to do with the Zyliss vice I bought on eBay many years ago.I did not have the budget credits to spend up much but it was interesting , new show owner and venue (but IMHO not nearly as good as the last few years).
Good to hear from you mate!
And very nice new toys
Good to see a new post from you Lyndon.
I've seen the Renovator thing advertised on TV, they look pretty handy - but too much $ for me.
I think you will get a lot of use out of the "extra pair of hands", my mate says it is the most used piece he has when he is working by himself.
Good to see you check in Lyndon!
Thank you,
gentlemen one and all!
It's very late Friday night here, and I haven't said much for a while. But a lot has been happening.
Health Front: Ok, so my Dr of the last 25 years (and my co conspirator at many F1 GP's) suddenly retired, leaving me the need to get a new Dr.... The one recommended by the good mate (& suddenly retired previous Dr) was discussing my previous history..... And decided that to investigate my "Chronic Fatigue Syndrome" it was best if I got an iron test, involving a blood test. 1st one was done in June, with a result of 22..... I didn't know what that meant, but the good Dr had to do one again a month later. So, early this month (OK - so 2 months later) I did it again. This time my score is 14....
Well apparently the acceptable scores are between 30 and 300. Only pregnant women are supposed to get near 30. Healthy, virile meat eating men are normally between 150 and 220. So, my iron levels are down, and dropping.
So - this Wednesday just gone I got an Iron Infusion. If it doesn't perk me up enough I can get another one next week.... We'll see how that goes.
On another front, Irene found, all on her own, a car that she wanted to replace the Jetta with .... she desperately wanted a bright coloured car, and this is what she found :
And we picked it up last weekend :
She's very happy. Now we just have to off load the manual 2013 Jetta.....
And by golly it's a good thing. And goes like a wounded cat. 2 litre turbo, all wheel drive. Will be a lot of fun.
In other news, I have changed to a contractor status at work. This is order to use up a shed load of tax credits available to me from my old shelf company, and as it turns out, my abilities in the area of HVNL (some of you will know what that means), has meant I have already picked up another client in this area. So, retirement looms in 2 - 3 years, but I'll be happy to continue to consult for a few more years after that, so long as it's by long distance from a caravan somewhere on the "long lap"...
Anyway, we have Irene's Dad's estate sale tomorrow, that will be very sad.
And the the V8's are on from a new track in SA on Sunday that will be very interesting. (Is the juxtaposition of the last 2 paragraphs right????)
And new tools are on their way here as I speak (write)..... Will show more after they get here.
(I'm still uncomfortable about the last 2 paragraphs....?)
So, sorry for the long delay, but I am busier than a nine tail cat in a room full of rocking chairs at present....
Have fun one and all!
Lyndon
Which way to bed, again?
