Lets see the fishing lures in box #3. :)
Get a nice new one, like a Hazet, for wifey to keep all her glues, tints, removers, applicators, spot putty, Nair and extra fingernails and eyelashes stored in. She'll never utter a word when you bring in more........ but may steal one or two for stuff in the kitchen, first aid or sewing kits and accessories.

Not a problem.
That is called a commitment.

I think my wife agrees with you, at least she said something about me being committed. :lol_hitti I remember reading somewhere about a date that Kennedy changed away from the two kits tags to the more modern version I posted on the box above. Does anybody remember that?

After looking closer at the old logo i just realized what “kits” in Kennedy Kits meant.

Hello,

What era are these Snap On cabinets from? I'm guessing 60s-70s. Anyone have experience with these?

I just bought these yesterday from an old retired chevy tech. I already have another top exactly like this, now if I can find another bottom I could have a matching set. Paid $100.

I haven't bought a tool box in a long time due to a severe lack of space, but I couldn't leave this little Kennedy behind for 15 bucks. It was chalk full of electrical stuff too.
I think it'll get a re paint and hold my vintage 1/4" drive stuff.

Box finds plus Tools.

Had stopped by an estate sale late in the day and picked up a few things. Not much left to look at but found some assorted sockets. However, when I was there a guy in line next to me tells me about another sale down the road that has tools and boxes for good prices. So you can't pass on a tip like that so off I went.

Long story short there were many tools still left and no other customers around. Just the seller and I. The two boxes pictured were near one another filled with tools. So for $95.00 I now own a nice Proto Professional carry box and what I think may be a MAC top box along with all the tools within each box.

Any opinions on how to ID the (MAC?) box? Its very well made and the drawers are solid. J Just has the wrong paint on it and some rust staining.

The tools were a mix of junk, Older store brands, MAC and Snap On. Not a bad day I think..

Catfishdan- you may be surprised to learn your box was originally a fishing tackle box! Apparently Kennedy had a more diverse market than just machinists & industrial maintenance guys back in the earlier 20th century.

Be careful as the drawers are just plastic with steel faces, also don't stack anything heavy on top of it as it won't support a load well. I had the same one, got for free but it was smooshed from storage. It was full of tackle that had melted into the plastic, cleaned it out mostly and gave to a female friend for her crafting supplies. She was stoked to have a "real tool box" after I showed her a pic of my Kennedy stack at work, lol. For light use should be fine.

Edit: nevermind, yours appears to be steel. However the box I had, had identical spring loaded latches and pulls.

Maay I be the first to offer a hearty YOU ****!

I see green handle goodness and what looks to be a Proto 3/8 set in the bottom drawer, all good stuff.

I couldn’t place the make of these boxes by the picture but the price was right so I went to meet the seller anyway. Was very happy to see these doors drop down!

Picked up this Kennedy 1117-AL Aluminum tackle box on Saturday. It cleaned up nicely and I found the original key in the envelope inside! :bounce:

At first glance, I thought that was very similar to a beat up Kennedy I picked up not to long ago, but there are significant differences. Nice looking little box, though. Good scores overall.

That looks great. Nice work. Can you estimate the hours you have in the refinish work?

Nicely done. I'm going to do something similar to mine once I decide on colors. You used spray cans?

That meme reminds me of when my dad bought a box of plumbing fitting at a yard sale, and found what he thought was tube of plumbers putty wrapped up in newspaper. When he opened it up, there as a black 2' long *********** inside.

Used to work with a woman who had a unique personality. I'll call it aggressively feminine. She quit and a couple of us were picking through the remains of her office for staplers, USB chargers and whatnot. Right before opening the bottom drawer of her filing cabinet one guy says, "I wonder if there's a ***** in here?"

Yup.

i tried to send you a long winded PM put it may have timed out and you didnt get it.
that chest is an odd & cool one. note that i didnt say it's rare or desireable.

what's it "worth"?? i'd say 50 to 100 clams..depending on the audiance of course.

could go for more i'm sure if it was put out to the right group of interested buyers or a large group like Ebay..ya never know what might happen there.

Found this interesting little box while cleaning out an old house. Did not think too much about it at first, until I cleaned off the name plate on top of it. According to my research, Walker Turner began sometime between 1927 and 1929, then moved from Jersey City in 1931. The Driver Line was their initial product and was sold through various department stores like Montgomery Ward, Sears, SS Kresge, etc.. It seems to be a light duty multi-tool, sort of like an early very lightweight ShopSmith, for home hobby use. While this may not be your standard box for small tools, my guess is it was the box some part of their Driver Line tool came in, so is technically a vintage toolbox. It does look like the original lock and keys, which do work, are laying in the bottom.

31 is where my records pick up walker turner. You may be right about the earlier time/location. The Driver line was a Sears trademark brand that ended about 32/33
