Not familiar with your heater or thermostat, but if it is a line voltage wall thermostat or if you can adapt it to use a wall thermostat, I would replace it with a regular thermostat that turns down lower.

See if there are any dip switches that set the range of the thermostat. A lot of PTAC units in hotel motels have limits so that they cannot be set above 76 or below 68 to keep the room in a comfort range. Those also usually have also have freeze sentinel settings that turn the unit on even if it is completely off to keep the room from freezing. Those are usually set at 40 degrees. Motels clerks used to have to go by usually sometime after midnight when the clerk remembered it to turn on units in unoccupied rooms to keep them from freezing.

How well does that heater work? How big is your space and how much you think it costs to operate? Looks like nice unit

I have that same heater. there is a way to run your own thermostat and bypass the internal one. Mine will go down to 45, so there must be and issue with yours.

These heaters are rated at 27500 BTU

7500 watts for 1 hr is 7.5 kilowatt hours, MY ele co charges $.012 per KWH.
for 5 hr's of usage it cost $4.50

Here's a great cost per usage calculator.
