Thank you sir, I'm fully capable of being inconsiderate and rude as well. I chose not to be like that tonight.
Honestly I didn't know if it was a Sir or Ma'am but I thought it would be rude to let the door slam shut on him/her. I guess I found out
JBL: with as big of spaces as you have in your shops you probably should have a few commercial racks for both inside and outside. for inside the house if don't have enough room for the teardrop pallet racks (commercial racking like Home Depot uses) i'd get Warner's 6 foot tall 6.5 foot wide and 2 foot deep shelving like the pictures I posted. 2 racks make that set up and they usually sell at Costco (do you have that store in your area) for about $150 per rack and 3 times a year they go on sale for $125 if you can time it right.
i put my 4 foot wide racks alongside my bride's car maybe 30 years ago and I'll probably just buy another 4 foot rack for $60 than mess any with her side of the garage.
keep the wife and family happy as you can while you still have a good job and a farm to run is a magic act and sounds like you've got everybody somewhat happy (even time to pet the chickens too) so keep up the great work.
No Costco up here yet but I think one is going up somewhere closeish to us. We have a few sections of the commercial stuff at Dad's place that we store everything from tires to wheat seed on. That stuff wasn't very expensive and is worth every penny !!
Keeping the wife happy is the largest challenge as we all want to do our own thing at times and I struggle finding time for just "the two of us". We're planning on going to a Minnesota Wild hockey game mid-jan so that should be fun. For her at least. I couldn't give a goats rump about hockey but I do like spending time with her
"one of the ladies said "Thank you but I am fully capable of getting the door myself""
In my book that was no lady...
I agree. What happened to being nice because it's the right thing to do
Wow! I didn't know that was one of my options...
My Grandmother always told us that when someone was mean or nasty to you don't do it back. "Kill them with kindness" instead. It does feel good to know you have risen above their bad attitude and haven't given them the satisfaction of being nasty back to them.
Wow.

Too bad you didn't say "lady, next time wear your hat that says I am capable, then I'll know to slam the door in your face".

It's kinda sad that being polite to ladies is looked down upon more & more these days.
Haha. My Dad had a hat that says "I'm retired and don't give a ****". I could make a few that say "I'm rude and don't give a ****" and hand them out to people like that
why not just be nice regardless of their gender?
That's how we were raised. You never know when you'll meet that person again or who they are. It's always better to just be nice.
Agree. It doesn't cost you anything and people who have a difficult time accepting kind gestures must have been raised by a pack of wild animals. Domesticated animals are definitely more civilized.
Being rude is something that I think gets passed down. I've been caught saying that I don't care if my kids end up ugly or stupid as long as they're polite and respectful. Polite and respectful will get you WAY farther in life than being smart and good looking.
That being said, I think our kids are pretty cute and crazy smart for their size but I do have a bit of a bias though
JB: keep opening doors for gals and even guys and I bet you'll get more nice comments and/or smiles than the SNIPPY ONES.
sure there are people out there with big chips on their shoulders, but there are a lot of us that are happy to be here so let's just let those others die in misery while we enjoy every minute.
cheers and keep petting those chickens!!
I have been thanks WAY more times for holding the door for people than I have gotten scoffed at. I am one of those guys that also waves at everyone I meet on the road as well. When someone doesn't wave back you know they're not "from around here"
That guy Drivesalongway is on to something !!
